  1. Wanted to add how much I hate YouTube videos where the bass isn’t DI’d or recorded properly so you get the sound of an amplifier into a phone mic and acoustic sound over the top. Horrible.
  2. I thought they all sounded quite different. But then of course they do. Wasn’t a surprise to me in the slightest.
  3. Lovely, nearly bought that myself! Can’t beat black/maple imo. Enjoy!
  4. I received this the other day. I’m a bit funny with filters. I love them but also find some of my favourites have a certain flaw which stops me using them. Mostly that’s when pushing the open envelope leads to a ‘whistling’ artefact instead of a squelch (like my fave FX25) or a loss of volume and/or huge spikes in sub bass (also the FX25!) I prefer a band pass filter generally, finding that they cut through the mix better and sound squishier when pushed. But then you need a clean mix too which you don’t always get. My recent adventures with a faulty Meridian Funk-U-Lator got me looking again and then this came up on Bc. It strikes me as a hugely versatile filter. Normally I find a good filter has basically one setting that works with a given instrument, but this gives a lot of flexibility from the various switches/bands/sweep ranges. The thing is, this think ‘bubbles’ and sounds ‘wetter’ than anything else I’ve tried. Slapping an A string for example literally feels like I’m spanking a wet balloon. The resonance control lets things bounce about even more, all the while retaining the low end. When pushed hard the filter wobbles and farts, making the useful range of the sensitivity control pretty me much from 0-100. Add to that control of the tone cutoff and you can really cook up some great sounds. Quick pic It also works well from an external battery Also I got an EHX bassballs again after selling mine years ago. Actually now I ‘get’ it and think it’s a great sound that works really well, especially with the distortion on. Having lots of fun with that. ped
  5. Yes the LEDs are useful. I have to say nothing I have tried is a patch on the compressors in the VB99, but for a portable tiny box this does exceed my expectations and I prefer it to the FEA for my particular instruments and use.
  6. Thanks, yes but ideally I want to use the battery connector I've already made so just need it to hold the battery. Also metal preferred
  7. As you might know I ended up selling the pedal. In the end I found the 'attack' setting a little slow even at the fastest setting, meaning I wasn't able to use the pedal very well for limiting, which is my main use for a comp. I have since bought an MXR M87 compressor and early impressions are very positive. It works better as a limiter and the noise is, I think, less than the FEA although I don't have them see by side to compare. I think the MXR will work better for me overall and better suits my 'style' of playing, on balance.
  8. I bought a pedal from Tiernan; it arrived quickly and was exactly as described. Great comms throughout. Cheers!
  9. a 9V battery holder (which holds the battery flat as opposed to on it's side They can be had for 49p online if you buy a million, or £5 on ebay!! Cheers ped

    Zoom L-12

Cheers yes it looks just the ticket for me especially having several headphone outputs. I like that the L12 has a compressor but thinking about it I reckon the L8 might be enough for me and I can use a comp pedal instead. And it takes batteries which is quite handy. Reminds me of the olden days when me and my friends used to have a Zoom MRS4 which we’d share between us (sometimes by post) to put down our individual track then post onwards to the next person.
  11. I’m afraid you must now upload photos of yourself reacting to things
  12. Looks like the cops are doing F all about this so far so he might as well start murdering people
  13. With strings and case and £50 cash in the case
  14. I think if anyone opens the parcel they’ll see it’s pink and quickly send it on
  15. Bought a pedal from AJ, posted next day (I paid on Sunday), arrived the day after that! What more could you want! Thanks!
  16. I put your last post into the 'Wanted' forum. Thanks
  17. To be fair @Rich does suffer from a very crumbly scalp
  18. Err guys who’s topping up the biscuit tin? There’s only two malted milks left
  19. Yeah I hope so. Better than being stuck in a van or something. It’ll all be worth it, you got this
  20. Any news @Ricky Rioli? I don’t want to rub it in but I’ve been playing my SB1 today (decided today felt like a P day) learning some George Porter .Jr baselines 😁
  21. Always one of my favourite albums when growing up (along with Kamakiriad by Donald Fagen) George Porter Jr on bass mostly, also Tony Hall. Great New Orleans vibe - quite different from anything else he did (mostly big band stuff) You're welcome! Click top right to hear other tracks from the album. All winners!
