Did the old cover come off easily?
-
I’m looking for a portable recording mixer with the following things: - four plus headphone outputs built in - compression and reverb assignable to channels I looked at a few things but the Zoom L-12 fits the bill perfectly. The smaller L8 would work but it doesn’t have the effects and isn’t much cheaper. Just wondered if there’s anything else I’m missing. Cheers ped

Tbh Larry is entertaining and a great performer/story teller but like Bernard Purdie I suspect most of the stories are complete bullshit (but still fun)

Why are dealers posting in the classifieds?
ped replied to dave_bass5's question in Site Issues and Questions
Feel free to flag any that you’ve seen - if I can find a web shop or commercial presence they will get the boot. I suspect there are several who definitely come under the HMRC definition of a trader but as a one man operation I am not able to do anything if they say they aren’t and I can’t prove it either way, which is frustrating but no way around it. Another idea would be to limit the number of sales per year but that would require some adapting of the software which isn’t happening for the foreseeable. I’m banging my head against a brick wall most of the time these days -
Why are dealers posting in the classifieds?

They shouldn’t be - let me know if you identify any and I’ll have a word. For clarity, I classify a dealer as someone who has a commercial profile on eBay and/or Reverb and/or a website shop. Without those I’m afraid all by myself I’m not able to prove one way or another and I know there are a few sellers who get through basses more quickly than I do clean pants but like I say flag it if you find it! Everyone shut up and watch Koko

The book arrived today. Thanks for the heads up. Fred will love it!! Here’s an especially poignant passage from the book:

I’ve just seen episode 1 and recognised one of the prison guards, turns out she was one of the two motivational speaker providers who recruited David Brent in the Office!
-
Just watching ‘Roadkill’ with Hugh Laurie (he’s in it, not watching it with me) and he’s wearing some Beyer DT770s in the section where he’s in a radio station studio 👍🏼

And my phone is 188g - I was miles off!

Hi Dan, they are pretty light actually - I'd estimate about the same as my iPhone, maybe a bit less. The exact weight is probably on the website. Failing that you could attach some balloons to your ATs!

When you paste the link it might paste it in a different font which will prevent it embedding, so look out for a little bar that appears at the bottom of the reply window where you can click ‘paste as plain text’ which will then sort it

I think the 80ohm are best for most applications. I did consider the 120ohm (I think?) because I’m plugging them into studio gear but often I’ll use them for music out of my computer too. The cable is really long - I’ll measure it for you later but at least 2m I think. Also it uncoils straight and doesn’t want to curl up which is so much easier. Ive been listening with my headphones most of the day today and they definitely go much lower and higher than I’m used to which is t immediately obvious because they sound so natural. I sometimes find that ‘boosted’ and ‘boxy’ bass can give me a headache but these are very ‘wide’ sounding like listening to speakers in a room rather than headphones. Really happy with them - they’ve kind of confirmed just how good the Bose cans they replaced were, and shown that my suspicions about them being very accurate for bass were true, but they add a certain sparkle and balance in the mix that sounds ever so slightly ‘nicer’ to listen to.

About 21 of those Kilos are superglue

All done! Basses now correctly spaced... I had to get a bit creative with what little foam I had, literally nothing could go to waste. I might get a big block of neoprene and do a neater job one day but for now this is solid.

I have no idea what's going on Did Lukather really play bass on that track? Thought it was Louis Johnson
-
No, it's completely blocked in by part B! I've given up - I don't think the lock will be used anyway; I'm sure someone could get into the case if there really wanted to. Instead, in an effort to reline and foam as much as the inside of the case as possible, I've foamed over the lock mechanism. The case is 100% snug and safe for my three basses now (I'll update with a pic when the glue is dry!)

Thanks folks. The slider (C) doesn't move at all, it's blocked by the flap (B) which sits over the numbers. Flap B does move up and down a little but it blocks C the whole time. Part A is the axle that runs through the lock and is sprung at the far end, but C still doesn't;t move because B is always in the way....

Hi folks I'm doing some fettling of my 3 bass flight case and it occurs to me that I've never used the combination lock. It doesn't seem to engage at all, the numbers spin but you can remove and close the lid, changing the numbers doesn't;t do anything. Is there a way I am missing to set the code and engage the lock? Here's what it looks like - nothing seems to move despite there being a little slider on the back that I assume is meant to work like a little bolt perhaps to set the lock - but it's blocked by the tongue which grabs the male part on the lid and although that flexes forwards and backwards it's always blocking the little lever... I don't really NEED it to work but thought it would be fun to work it out anyway! Cheers ped currently locked inside a case

Fingers crossed it won't be long now. Can't wait to see it!!

Yeah it does sound nice - it’s definitely a more ‘plummy’ sound than the 70s spacing. I just don’t gel with it as much.
