  1. The bridge pickup is a jazz shape so guess it's a modification?
  2. Ah sorry I wasn’t referring to your posts. But the Musicman sound is 100% not a Jaco sound. I’m not going down this rabbit hole but it’s true to say every bass sounds different. That’s why there are so many types. Normally then someone says ‘so what, the audience don’t notice’ - again, not you necessarily - but I think actually they do (but they might not realise it) and even if they don’t, unless you’re slaving away doing it as a job and don’t care what you sound like that’s fine. I’d wager anyone with enough interest to join a forum about basses has an interest in the minutiae that makes it such a rich, varied instrument.
  3. There’s always one “it’s all in the fingers” guy who thinks they can get a Musicman sound from a Hofner
  4. Thanks, it's an interesting test of Reverb's policy - thankfully I paid by card so I think I am entitled to their buyer protection, whereas if I used Paypal they basically farm it out to them - which would normally be OK but I think it would be in Reverb's interest to give enhanced protection to people using their platform to pay. We'll see...
  5. Yes it's a great demo, there's another good one with a German chap playing a Marleaux. I really liked the sound of the octaver+synth side actually, but a real shame about the other. The envelope sounded nice - band pass I think, which I prefer as long as I can blend in some clean. Shame it was buggered. Reverb have escalated the claim now and were keen to learn that the item was sent loose in a thin cardboard box. It was really dusty, too, so probably not tested.
  6. Elixir rounds, light gauge. The Mwah never dies because they last so long, and I feel they are pretty kind to fretboards, too. If you were going to try flats again (though I know you want a round sound) then EB Cobalt flats come in a very light gauge and they have that round sound too, although they do mellow after a fairly long time.
  7. Radio silence from the seller (who sent the pedal loose in a cardboard box btw)
  8. Super Grundy!! Wasn’t neighbours a Grundy production back in the day?
  9. This came with a bass I bought. It has Schallers installed which I haven’t removed. It’s a little worn in but these are built to last a lifetime. I think actually they look slightly worn when new. I’m pretty sure it’s this one: http://www.harvest-guitar.com/en/Cow-Antique-The-Classic-oxid.html It’s a very dark brown with black backing/edges. Very high quality! Price includes UK postage
  10. Oh definitely, however if this one makes a noise it’s fine as it’ll only be used to charge something up every now and then. As long as it doesn’t kill my face it’ll be fine
  11. Sorry guys I've just weighed the (big) box and will have to make it £30 posted!

    Zoom B1on

Perfect condition. Battery powered powerhouse. Terrific little unit - for the price it’s a must have for practice, travel or zoom meetings. Price includes UK postage. No box.
  13. Really awesome looking and sounding chorus with two fixed speeds, or both can be used together. Sounds great in bass and lots of other instruments. Brand new condition, boxed with paperwork Price includes UK delivery.
  14. Fabulous distortion pedal. Boxed, as new. Really tasty Grundy distortion which ads a real bite and cuts through the mix unlike many others which get lost. Screw for battery compartment a tiny bit rough (it was super tight) but otherwise mint, never taken out of the house! Price includes UK delivery
  15. A fantastic compressor with built in power plug. One of my faves - extremely transparent and flexible with great build quality. Very low noise. Has foam on the bottom, slightly marked. Pedal is in excellent condition and is boxed. Price includes UK delivery
  16. This pedal was built by a member here. It works via battery (but can be adapted to take a supply, I had the chap who made it convert it for battery) It sounds great but is a little bit temperamental, I think because the circuits aren’t secured in the enclosure. Probably easy to tidy up and use. Priced accordingly. Price includes UK delivery
  17. Great pedal, so easy to use. Excellent condition with box, manual and USB cable. Price includes UK delivery
  18. Up for grabs is this lovely sounding compressor. Amazing quality and very tweak-able. I did a review of it here recently as I was looking for the ultimate comp which has a battery power option. Price includes UK delivery. No box. Cheers ped
  19. Easy if you have an envelope filter
  20. There comes a time when a musician gets so good that they go over the edge and start playing with odd instruments. Like when Dave Weckl started using bongos. I think this is a good example of pushing the envelope too far. It’s not for me!
  21. Congrats it’s a nice place to be, to know that you’ve found a suitable bass after trying loads out. What strings are you using in your Musicperson?
  22. Tbh I think ‘The One’ happens over time and naturally despite what you think it will be based on specs and price. The One is the bass you know inside out, have used live and in the studio, you’ve learned it so well that you can hear it in your head and know how it’ll sound every time.
  23. I bought one of these recently after seeing some excellent demos online. It arrived today but the envelope side of the pedal makes a scratchy fuzzy racket. It’s a shame because the pedal sounds great on the demos. I also note that the dry bass sound doesn’t come through when using the envelope so maybe something has come loose inside. Ive requested a refund (bought via Reverb) so we’ll see what happens.. Here’s the demo anyway: Real shame it’s broken - doubt it would be easy to repair?!
  24. I don’t talk to mine
