  1. Thanks folks let’s keep the banter off this thread so we can keep it useful 👍🏼
  2. Hi mate yes apparently so, although I haven’t tried personally. I’m sure it would be more than close enough. The scale length and different electronics are more likely to offer a slightly different vibe but in the same ballpark. I had a passive OLP with graphite neck that was absolutely killer and the electronics in that were as basic as they come.
  3. Yeah it’s a bit random and I know some Moses necks have been problematic but if it’s a good one it could be quite cool!
  4. It’s fair to say I’ve played this more than anything else recently! I’ll let you know if I see any good ones. What model and colour ore you after mostly? There’s an interesting used one at Bass Direct with a Moses neck which might be worth trying!
  5. Hers is an ‘86 I believe. Not sure if it will be a slab body or not. I think she has a white ‘classic’ model now too.
  6. That looks great. I really like the black crackle finish to, and have the same on my SB1. A very flexible bass - you could also look at the K-mod which allows single coil modes. I'm eyeing up an '83 L1000 at the moment but really shouldn't! I saw this one on Classic & Cool and was really tempted myself.
  7. That's great! Also worth a look is the NUX Mighty Plug
  8. Trade offers by PM only please @Mark_ii
  9. The recipe has changed a few times over the years; I’m sure there’s one out there for you somewhere! I also think they magnify differences in strings somewhat, so that can add another factor to get the sound and feel you want. What did you find lacking?
  10. Thanks I’ll have a look when she gets restrung. Also need to do this with my Celinder as there’s no serial on it anywhere else! Better get the screwdrivers out 🪛
  11. You can set up your own activity feed and select the forums you want to include in your search. For example all new posts since last visit, every forum except off topic. When you select the filters choose ‘topics’ (that’s that they call forums for some reason) and choose there. I’ll show you tomorrow if you can’t work it out.
  12. My Vigier cost me £500 back in the day and I’ll never sell it. Think I’ve had it for 15 years now 👍🏼
  13. That might be your problem then! What operating system are you on?
  14. Amazing work Matt. Yes I noticed the ‘guitar’ - they probably couldn’t get a real one to stay long enough to get a picture. My father in law does these sorts of tests for gas injection moulding and always has something similar to this open on his laptop!
  15. Yeah that combo should cover a lot of sonic territory. And of course you have a certain little French number 😉
  16. It's the sort of thing they don't teach in school any more. I'm terrible at it - any time I approach my walls with a drill and rawl plug they end up looking like glory holes
  17. I haven’t used mine on a gig or practice yet, and have never taken my BassBoard out of the office - although it would be quite easy to take to a gig. But I think the backbeat is even easier and provides a more focused punch. It’s interesting to try different positions on the strap - I find it feels best quite low on the strap so it’s almost behind the bass pickup (but on the other side of your body!). At home I pump the music I’m playing along with through the bassboard too so I can feel the kick drum. Being much bigger with several drivers it’s able to reproduce that detail and my bass signal clearly, whereas my brief experiment doing the same with the backbeat muddied things a bit so keep that bass signal only. That works much better.
  18. There’s nothing quite like ‘feeling’ the bass is there? Great setup you’ve got there.
  19. Also a tuner would be a good addition to the app but I use the PolyTune app if I need to
