As a member of the gliding club I’ve nearly crashed into a number of businesses on the estate

    PJD Guitars

Yes they’re based in the Pock industrial estate. They have a few basses (P,J and short scale versions of both) on their Instagram. It looks like lovely workmanship. Their take on the stray shape is lovely! Great to hear about them especially as they’re so close!
  3. Surely they could have adapted the Tesco Finest range logo for this one?
  4. Like most sellers on eBay feigning ignorance I should think he knows bloody well!
  5. Seller sounds a bit of an arse too. But hey it’s an investment opportunity 🙄
  6. Fluffy up to a certain threshold then naturally smoothed for a perfect finish?
  7. Bump, this also helps compress your pancakes
  8. Bump, it's the perfect gift for Valentines day!
  9. Well they aren't likely to take an email you sent into account if they didn't reply to it in the first place - and I don't think your consumer rights are enhanced in any way by sending a written record any more than what you said down the phone. And anyway - it was a general enquiry rather than anything sinister, so personally I'd pick up the phone if I wanted the instrument enough. It is frustrating when emails go unanswered, sure - but even running BC I get a decent quantity of messages that I often flag to reply to only to find that when I remember, the issue has resolved itself or the situation has changed. I imagine Bass Direct have a lot on their plate currently and they deserve our full support.
  10. Thanks yes I’ve messaged them and their luthier is a member here who has given me their technicians address. I’m hoping they can provide some schematics or something for a UK tech to use (although they might not need that?) I’ve bought some GK accessories like a breakout box from Keld Ampworks http://www.ampworks.co.uk/tag/pedal-repair/ So have emailed them. I’ll give Owen a try as they came as recommended also. It’s certainly worth fixing I think
  11. Ok that’s weird. The seller messaged in the end to say sorry to hear the problem and that he’s find out how to do a refund. In the meantime my case was handed to the reverb team who have just emailed to say they have refunded me and I don’t need to return the pedal?! Not sure if that’s because the seller said ‘keep it’ or not - but strange. So do we think it’s repairable? Any ideas who might be able to have a look?
  12. And then Warwick could copy the Spector made Sadowskys and balance would be restored
  13. I'm not convinced this pickup screw is in properly
  14. I had to take my shades off to be sure
  15. The bridge pickup is a jazz shape so guess it's a modification?
  16. I’m out
  17. Ah sorry I wasn’t referring to your posts. But the Musicman sound is 100% not a Jaco sound. I’m not going down this rabbit hole but it’s true to say every bass sounds different. That’s why there are so many types. Normally then someone says ‘so what, the audience don’t notice’ - again, not you necessarily - but I think actually they do (but they might not realise it) and even if they don’t, unless you’re slaving away doing it as a job and don’t care what you sound like that’s fine. I’d wager anyone with enough interest to join a forum about basses has an interest in the minutiae that makes it such a rich, varied instrument.
  18. There’s always one “it’s all in the fingers” guy who thinks they can get a Musicman sound from a Hofner
  19. Thanks, it's an interesting test of Reverb's policy - thankfully I paid by card so I think I am entitled to their buyer protection, whereas if I used Paypal they basically farm it out to them - which would normally be OK but I think it would be in Reverb's interest to give enhanced protection to people using their platform to pay. We'll see...
  20. Yes it's a great demo, there's another good one with a German chap playing a Marleaux. I really liked the sound of the octaver+synth side actually, but a real shame about the other. The envelope sounded nice - band pass I think, which I prefer as long as I can blend in some clean. Shame it was buggered. Reverb have escalated the claim now and were keen to learn that the item was sent loose in a thin cardboard box. It was really dusty, too, so probably not tested.
  21. Elixir rounds, light gauge. The Mwah never dies because they last so long, and I feel they are pretty kind to fretboards, too. If you were going to try flats again (though I know you want a round sound) then EB Cobalt flats come in a very light gauge and they have that round sound too, although they do mellow after a fairly long time.
  22. Radio silence from the seller (who sent the pedal loose in a cardboard box btw)
  23. Super Grundy!! Wasn’t neighbours a Grundy production back in the day?
  24. This came with a bass I bought. It has Schallers installed which I haven’t removed. It’s a little worn in but these are built to last a lifetime. I think actually they look slightly worn when new. I’m pretty sure it’s this one: http://www.harvest-guitar.com/en/Cow-Antique-The-Classic-oxid.html It’s a very dark brown with black backing/edges. Very high quality! Price includes UK postage
