  1. Just hidden a bunch more posts. If we can’t keep the updates clean and above reproach then I’ll lock the thread. Thanks to the mods who have been helping too.
  2. What’s your involvement? Did you get scammed too?
  3. The main difference is the pickup location. The 70s has a wider spacing, with the rear pickup closer to the bridge. That gives quite a different sound to the 60s spacing.
  4. Nothing to do with that at all - I just do not want to pin any advice which I do not fully understand or endorse, just like I don’t advise people on fees for importing items from non EU countries. It’s all up in the air, and will continue to be, for a while yet (Globally). Anyone looking to import at this time is responsible for checking or finding out for themselves.
  5. That’s one conclusion
  6. As mentioned elsewhere I am not going to publish any advice or guidelines that suggest I know the deal because I think private sales won’t be affected. Let’s wait and see.

    Aguilar AGRO pedal

Totally agree - there’s a lot of scope with adjustment of the presence and contour controls. I like how the presence brings out the front of the note with a clear ‘clack’
  8. More legal threats at 8:30 this morning - Xmas day! He must be rattled. BC office is close until late Jan.

  10. Well they did seem very happy on the phone!
  11. Set your compressor to allow the initial attack before kicking in (attack time). Might help
  12. Digikey have a massive selection.
  13. If I was after a 60s spaced jazz this would be it. We both know how good Atelier Z basses are!! Every bit as good as the usual suspects. Better than most!
  14. I think it’s best to have your own sound, 100% - but it’s also great to own examples of the classic main types of bass so when inspiration hits you can plunk away on a P or slap a Jazz. It helps keep things fresh, they’re great to own from a collector/historical interest perspective and they help keep your signature sound grounded by way if easy comparison. That was my excuse anyway.
  15. I have received an email asking for the thread to be taken down on grounds of it inciting hate (email from Mick obviously). It would be much obliged if everyone would check their posts and change any remotely offensive language to something like ‘silly Billy’ or ‘naughty man’ ASAP - I’ll try and do some later if I get a chance. Cheers
  16. We’re climbing the rankings on Google for any terms related to Mick. Mick Mason scam - #1 Mick Mason Bass - #3 (but new thread name not indexed yet) Mick Mason Sansamp - #1 All good stuff
  17. Once again please don’t post things about his hopefully imminent prison time. I don’t want to lock the thread.
  18. Please keep the comments non liablelous(!) guys, thanks
  19. He's now using Reverb https://reverb.com/uk/shop/gear-garage-5891 I have reported him and provided the link to here and the guy at Reverb seemed semi interested but not really - as long as he's paying, right? 🤷‍♂️
  20. I've updated the first post with some info - @prowla has kindly agreed to sum up the scam and add relevant links etc in the next few days, so new members and people who look for info on him online can see everything in one place.
  21. Yes welcome @DIYorDie, hope you stick around to chat about more pleasant topics!
  22. Anyone got a clear picture of this guys handsome face that I can plaster all over page one?
  23. Haven’t you heard, he’s too busy gigging, unlike us keyboard warriors!
  24. Title updated for max visibility. We’re putting together a post to pin at the start with all the key facts and names of those scammed.

    Aguilar AGRO pedal

I have been after a specific bass distortion sound for a while now but as I don't really have cause to use it, and because buying pedals is quite a gamble and trying them in store is either impossible or difficult to judge, I've never really got round to discovering the pedal I need. I used to play in a funk metal band when I was at university, and we went on a trip to see Cult of Luna play in Birmingham, where I heard the bass distortion sound I wanted. It seems to me that too many distortion pedals add fizz on top of the signal, rob it of punch or make the bass sound blend into the guitar too much and consequently drop out. I wanted a bass distortion that sounds similar to this: To me, it distorts and breaks up the bass, making it dirty and fat but really thick and growly. Then I heard this demo, which features some rather bored looking youth playing a jazz bass (always my bass of choice for distorted sounds). He is downtrend a fair bit here which helps match the sound but this particular part of the demo had me interested: So I got the pedal and it sounds really great, especially like I say on a jazz - something about that hollow broken up gutsy sound just sounds great in the mix (although I've only been playing along with backing tracks through my headphone setup) So yeah pretty pleased with it. Aguilar have sorted the pedal box too so that you can use right angled cables, where before I think there was an overhang. Cheers ped
