  1. You might have seen that I recently went to sell this bass, but I started playing it again and rapidly removed it from sale. Not sure why I did that, I suppose I was feeling guilty for having recently spent some money on a watch and my man maths said it would be paid for by the sale of this bass. Deep down I knew it wouldn't happen. Also I managed to reduce some bills by calling up and saying 'I'm leaving' and paid off the council tax finally. Messing about with my phone I took a couple of snaps, thought I'd post here to share some SB-1 love. The sticker near the jack is a tribute to my first bass, which had an actual warning sign cutout placed in front of the bridge, as I was still of the mindset of a sign stealing youth. I suppose it's a stage we all go through along with taking the odd traffic cone on the way home from town. Cheers ped
  2. I'll slide it under the door! I'll have to be careful not to mix it up with the other parcels containing faeces I have to deliver today
  3. Give 'em a go I reckon. You can see the grub screw holes in. the enlarged pics.
  4. Good find! Get three! Just check they fit though as shaft size is a bit bigger and although they’ll have grub screws it can cause them to sit a bit wonky if they don’t fit perfectly (assuming the shafts are 6mm exactly)
  5. A few times - it's AMAZINGLY fast. I'm pretty sure one order took less than two days. You can sometimes find the knobs on eBay or similar but in the end I went with Digi-key and will use again because they are so quick. These knobs aren't cheap wherever you get them really. Looking back through me emails I bought four knobs costing £25 and the shipping was £12 and £7 VAT. Maybe a group order would be of interest to people on here, or maybe you can find a UK manufacturer who uses them and see if you can buy some from them?
  6. Okayyyyy time to move on guys. Go in peace and be excellent to each other.
  7. They are made by Kilo International and are the JD style https://www.digikey.co.uk/products/en?Keyword&v=226&KeyWords=JD series I believe the correct height ones are the JD-75-4-7 although I don't have a Sadowsky to compare them to. There's a slightly shorter model I have had in the past (fitted to an early Smith)
  8. Because along the way people become more entrenched and divided when people try and police they way others think and tar entire groups of people with the same brush. I long for the days when we could poke fun at each other and laugh, poke back and take things as intended or just have the ability to not find things funny without having to say one is offended. Actually I think that’s still pretty much how the world is except a vocal minority who aren’t doing their cause any favours.
  9. This. Most people who play bass or guitar are male and this one thought he’d write an article about sneaking stuff past his wife which he thought might be amusing. It’s just fluff and easily ignored. And should probably be taken with a pinch of salt too. I showed my wife and she just said ‘we’re not as daft as you think we are’ with a grin. And that’s the appropriate response imo.
  10. Nicely done - I always thought sunburst works really well on a Musician because of the shape of the scratchplate. Enjoy!
  11. Had a play this afternoon. It seems to drive the board every bit as well as the TC, and after a good 30mins of playing the fan hasn’t kicked in either and it’s not even warm. Good so far. Switch on the front is immensely satisfying after years of reaching under a monitor and invariably scraping ones hand or knocking said monitor off balance. Happy days
  12. Thanks for that it definitely would have been a better idea! The MB200 just arrived. It’s about the size of a paperback! I’ll give it a whirl over the weekend and see if it can come up with the muscle to shake my chair as much as the TC does.
  13. Glad you like it. I used to have an LMB-3 for years but now I use the simulation of it in my Roland VB99 which is the same but with more settings. In general I much prefer limiting to compression, it allows your dynamics to breathe but gives you that nice clear bottom line which helps your sound sit in a mix like it was lowered in by a funky chinook
  14. I don't see that at all if I'm honest. Every day there are threads full of helpful advice. It's perfectly natural once the question has been answered that users start to wander and go off topic, but that doesn't stop the next person jumping in and asking something else - or if it does then people apparently feel quite happy to start a new topic and get a lot of advice and help very quickly. I think we're much better at that than Talkbass. Typically it can be hard for long term users to see this as they become so familiar with the members and ways of the site that to them it looks like nothing is new and that things should be in a WIKI or some such (a typical response on TB is 'use the search function') but a revolving door or Q+A is the lifeblood of a forum and I'm very pleased with how welcoming and friendly people are here. Mods don't need to step in because there's nothing to do, the place moderates itself (sometimes even in OT!)
  15. Sorted - next time it'll be quicker to PM a mod and they'll do it right away. Cheers!

    Ads

Thanks, those ads are hosted by an external partner. They shouldn't be using odd sized formats though so I'll check again. Thanks
  17. IME there's no way to limit what happens naturally on the forum - a new poster would be just as well to join in and ask for info or start a new thread.
  18. I don't think I am either, at heart - but have come to realise that it's a great tool to have in the box and an excuse to buy flats
  19. Darkglass products in general make me feel old
  20. I did wonder about that but then I saw something shiny I could waste money on instead - of course your suggestion would have been far more sensible. Do you have an example of such a cable for reference?
  21. Thanks - actually the fan noise doesn't bother me that much as when playing I have my headphones on but I do sometimes listen to music and pump the bass through the board as it sits under my office chair and feels amazing. So it could be annoying in that way. I have bought the GK 200 thing and will see if it has enough power to drive the board at the levels I tend to use (fairly low)
  22. Yes all I need are your bank details, and if you give me your login information for said account I can make the transfer happen really quickly. Looking forward to your correspondence.
  23. Ok take your pick https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143553561582
  24. Thanks, no not really, in fact in a weird way it doesn't actually matter what the amp sounds like as I'll never hear it!!
