  1. So just doing the maths and it seems that if the unit draws 100mah then a rechargeable 9V battery with 850mah will last about 8 hours (probably less if you do lots of twiddling). Tempted to try it as a backup and for travelling, any things I should know beforehand? I'd just get a centre negative adapter with a battery snap on the end.
  2. Good service from the retailer, who was it?
  3. They look pretty good but I' have thought the reason to put them on a backing plate would be so that you could adjust the spacing, however it looks like they aren't adjustable.
  4. IME, a lot of trial, error and experiences playing the exact same setup in the studio, at home, live and at jam sessions I now feel pretty confident that what I hear through my 'headphone rig' sounds exactly the same as my bass does when recorded. And because I'm so happy with the sound with it in a mix, I've locked that sound in and haven't changed it at all in years. Live I know that the speaker and amp will colour the sound a little but generally my own rigs have been powerful clean sounding rigs and when I borrow one that isn't I know what to adjust to get it sounding as flat as possible, or at least good enough. I NEVER play through an amp at home (my Blackstar U500 has barely been used at all) because I don't like the idea that neighbours might hear me plodding away and I couldn't;t concentrate or relax knowing I was making a racket. Plus, everything in the room vibrates with each and every note and finally I don't like hearing the acoustic sound of the instrument 'clacking' away over the top of a quiet amplifier. Using headphones you hear your bass like it's been recorded and nothing else - sure you can add a touch of reverb and 'room tone' but mixed with a floor board/bassboard you get all the 'feel' along with the advantages of being practically silent.
  5. And just to confirm, am I invited
  6. Thanks that’s very kind - if my best offer on eBay is declined I’ll let you know (don’t think I can withdraw it now)
  7. The Roland UM One interface isn’t actually in stock in most shops - there’s a two week wait in most places. If my eBay item doesn’t work out what other interfaces would you recommend, and sorry I’m sure that’s been covered before but I haven’t had the time to read through the thread (but will over the weekend!)
  8. Nothing on my Vigier (no truss rod, dead flat and immovable since 1988). I've asked Patrice Vigier about how the necks are constructed which should be interesting. I wonder what's inside!
  9. This: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/141834/Roland-V-Bass-Vb-99.html?page=49#manual Don't know where to start really!!
  10. Scott Dixon cases - mine is a slightly cheaper version made by Fender I think under licence.
  11. Hi guys Just approaching the rabbit hole and would appreciate any thoughts along the way. As I have mentioned I'm bidding on a Roland MIDI interface. Now the VB99 has a MIDI in/out but also connects to my computer by USB. I wondered if there was any way to control the FI (using the desktop software) by connecting it to the VB99 by MIDI? I suppose any knowledge here will rest upon knowing the VB99 MIDI capabilities and although I feel like I know it inside out I just haven't ever played with the MIDI stuff on it before (never had to as poor pitch to MIDI is why I use a GK system in the first place)
  12. Very informative post.
  13. Couldn’t you use the box for the body?
  14. Just bought a FI pedal from Any - easy and quick, just how I like it! Cheers Andy ped
  15. Excellent. I do the same with the VB99 although it has a USB interface. Although I often forget to use the software control as the physical controls are so tactile and useful.
  16. 😂 you've worn me down already, I'm bidding on a Roland interface. I'll probably 'drive' the pedal from the software more than anything so that should be pretty cool. Also found it here for £34 in case anyone else is looking
  17. Sounds great - I haven't looked at how to use the computer software or importing patches yet (I'll need an interface of some sort I believe) but don't worry I'll get there!
  18. It's here and I've given it a quick whirl, seems great so far although as it will sit on my desk rather than on the floor it can be tricky achieving a double press on the program button. And due to where it will 'live' in my studio/office is it OK to leave plugged in for long periods as the display is always on or should I unplug the power supply in between use? I have some fave patches at a quick glance which I'm looking forward to playing with: 23 41 72 86 89 91 As with lots of synth pedals I'm not sure how much I'll use the 'crystal' type sounds but already I love the squelch of the envelope filter - for a while I've been searching for one that squelches when pushed rather than whistles.
  19. I think they do it to take advantage of discount listing days and plan to edit in the actual pictures etc at a later date. Kind of annoys me though, I mean, if you don't like the platform don't use it. Everyone wants something for free these days.
  20. Hopefully you paid using PayPal so just put in a claim for goods not as described. I’ll chase the seller my end and restrict his account until he replies to you, if it helps. Yes the user Christian was banned for lying about being involved with the company (it was pretty obvious to us all that he was the owner no less). Says it all.
  21. Technically they aren’t available yet! Sign up if you want some!
  22. Weird. I have a BH800 which doesn’t kick in for a while but when it does it sounds like a regular fan, no high pitched whistle. I recently got a GK MB200 too and the fan on that is almost silent when it’s running. I think there’s something wrong with this one like maybe the fan is slightly out of alignment or a dodgy bearing
  23. Wow I had no idea such a thing existed!! Big thumbs up to Ashdown again. Always such great customer stories on here and it just goes to show how the small things which take thought and care are worth their weight in gold.
