    Your Go To Bass

Ah just found a vid on FB. He's making the bass sound better than I ever did!

    Your Go To Bass

Any links? Or do I have to be a member? He said he’d leave the puppets on the tuners 🤣
  4. My friend has a guitar. It’s gorgeous and the angled neck feels amazing.
  5. I think they’ll all have 60s spacing
  6. There you go - just like you cannot make a P bass sound like a Jazz bass, this is the same story albeit the difference (to most) is subtle.

    Your Go To Bass

Yes I agree there's something particular about the early ones; the mix of carbon but the bridge and pickups mounted in wood gives a great warm and precise sound. That Smith really was a special bass. I recently sold the 4 string that replaced it to Scott Devine who loves it but I'd have kept the 5 if I was more of a five string player!
  8. Indeed! I much prefer the look of a ‘paddle’ headstock and dislike small pointy ones. I know it’s a bit lame to show your own here but it wasn’t until I noticed how the ‘V’ logo fits with the shape of the headstock (particularly the top) that I realised how nicely it’s designed. The ‘scoop’ also mirrors the shape of the horns of the body. Clever and nice looking imo.
  9. Not really, it’s what they do in the factory. Personally think a bolt on neck should be in full contact with the body if possible. Bridges aren’t expensive and the mod would be invisible. But you do you.
  10. Yeah but somehow feels a bit of a bodge imo.
  11. Nice! You can always file down the string saddle with some abrasive cord. Works really well. File it down past where you’d like it to be then raise the saddle to suit.
  12. Normally when you try and compare two basses people say 'yes but different woods, different finish, different fingerboard etc make more difference than the pickups' So here's a way to show how the 60's and 70's spacings sound very different ON THE SAME BASS! Sadowsky have a pickup with switchable 60s and 70s spacing. Watch this vid. The text is wrong, but the first sample is 70s, the second is 60s and finally a parallel mode. As you can hear, the positions sound quite different!
  13. I don't think we can expect the mods to deliver stuff, but worth asking 😝
  14. The old (larger) Smith headstock is one of my faves, I love it.
  15. Prefer 70s. And I don’t think you can EQ the sounds of a pickup in a different place no matter what you do!
  16. Yup - the nice thing about here is that you can do it however you like.
  17. I’m going to jump on you anyway and say wind yer’ neck in and, as Kev says, play nice. Thank you.
  18. All seems fine currently - with emptier roads and extra drivers being drafted in I’m wondering if it’s actually quite a good time to order! Welcome to BC by the way, hide your wallet NOW!
  19. If it’s a bass I’ll always try and arrange a meet up half way. Driving the car is some of the only peace and quiet I get nowadays and I always prefer the buyer to try the goods first if I can. Normally a mutually convenient location can be found and combined with a day out somewhere. But I have posted before, it’s easy. Hard case (add the cost of a cheap one to the item price), foam and bubble wrap, bicycle box and tape. Unless I’m in a real rush though I’ll wait for a meet up scenario.
  20. I've noticed that too on some threads - not sure why. Probably a bug that's been fixed in the latest release which I hope @charic can install soon
  21. Here you go. Sorry it didn’t work but it’s the software we’re using that isn’t set up to do that easily. Cheers https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/411789-special-offer/
  22. As long as you send it insured and 100% insist on this as a seller then it’s a lot easier to send it yourself and makes it much easier to sell your stuff.
  23. Items under £50 are free but need to be manually approved so people don’t cheat. Just approved yours!
  24. It doesn’t disconnect that battery when you use the switch because if it did you’d get a loud pop when you switch on. I think. Also battery life should be thousands of hours in any case so just change it when you change strings or have a spare in your gig bag.
