  1. Brilliant looking forward to seeing it. My own Vigier is a bit of a triggers broom as you might know but the magic of these basses is in the ‘chassis’ which works as an amazing platform for your chosen electronics.
  2. Not sure RE the pickups but I’d love to see some pics of the refin process!
  3. Been playing ‘Like a Prayer’ this afternoon. Never really listened to it before but great fun.
  4. Done. Think it was in jest but still. Thanks
  5. I know what you mean but if for example you're using a brass or well made, robust nut then the string exiting at a sideways angle has no ill effect any more than the string leaving at a downward angle which people regard as beneficial. Aesthetics aside, of course.
  6. I think it look like it's broken!
  7. I love this one. Currently up for sale if you want to buy the ultimate P in classic black/maple combo!
  8. Can I trade my skills for yours please + cash your way 🤣

    Your Go To Bass

Let’s see some more ‘go to’ basses! It’s interesting to see that for several people, your ‘go to’ is a relatively cheap instrument. It just goes to show that a great bass is the one you feel most comfortable with, or the one you normally have to hand. I must admit I feel more ‘loose and relaxed’ playing a bass which owes me less than a super high end bass. I guess it’s a bit like driving an old banger which you’re comfortable to park anywhere. There’s something inherently fun about that.
  10. Good game. Shows how flexible the Lakland is.
  11. I don't have S on my tuner - I always wondered what I was missing!
  12. It only makes sense if people think a Sadowsky with the preamp off doesn’t sound like a Sadowsky, which of course it does. We’re back to the whole ‘EQ can do anything’ myth; someone will be along shortly to say it’s all in the fingers!

    Your Go To Bass

We’re hoping it goes viral 😂
  14. EQ can only do so much with what you put in - and it can't change what you don't put in. Therefore you can't get a 70's snap from a 60's position whatever you do, except modelling.

He's got the bear on the D tuner too

    Your Go To Bass

Ah just found a vid on FB. He's making the bass sound better than I ever did!

    Your Go To Bass

Any links? Or do I have to be a member? He said he’d leave the puppets on the tuners 🤣
  18. My friend has a guitar. It’s gorgeous and the angled neck feels amazing.
  19. I think they’ll all have 60s spacing
  20. There you go - just like you cannot make a P bass sound like a Jazz bass, this is the same story albeit the difference (to most) is subtle.

    Your Go To Bass

Yes I agree there's something particular about the early ones; the mix of carbon but the bridge and pickups mounted in wood gives a great warm and precise sound. That Smith really was a special bass. I recently sold the 4 string that replaced it to Scott Devine who loves it but I'd have kept the 5 if I was more of a five string player!
  22. Indeed! I much prefer the look of a ‘paddle’ headstock and dislike small pointy ones. I know it’s a bit lame to show your own here but it wasn’t until I noticed how the ‘V’ logo fits with the shape of the headstock (particularly the top) that I realised how nicely it’s designed. The ‘scoop’ also mirrors the shape of the horns of the body. Clever and nice looking imo.
  23. Not really, it’s what they do in the factory. Personally think a bolt on neck should be in full contact with the body if possible. Bridges aren’t expensive and the mod would be invisible. But you do you.
  24. Yeah but somehow feels a bit of a bodge imo.
