  1. Nice! You can always file down the string saddle with some abrasive cord. Works really well. File it down past where you’d like it to be then raise the saddle to suit.
  2. Normally when you try and compare two basses people say 'yes but different woods, different finish, different fingerboard etc make more difference than the pickups' So here's a way to show how the 60's and 70's spacings sound very different ON THE SAME BASS! Sadowsky have a pickup with switchable 60s and 70s spacing. Watch this vid. The text is wrong, but the first sample is 70s, the second is 60s and finally a parallel mode. As you can hear, the positions sound quite different!
  3. I don't think we can expect the mods to deliver stuff, but worth asking 😝
  4. The old (larger) Smith headstock is one of my faves, I love it.
  5. Prefer 70s. And I don’t think you can EQ the sounds of a pickup in a different place no matter what you do!
  6. Yup - the nice thing about here is that you can do it however you like.
  7. I’m going to jump on you anyway and say wind yer’ neck in and, as Kev says, play nice. Thank you.
  8. All seems fine currently - with emptier roads and extra drivers being drafted in I’m wondering if it’s actually quite a good time to order! Welcome to BC by the way, hide your wallet NOW!
  9. If it’s a bass I’ll always try and arrange a meet up half way. Driving the car is some of the only peace and quiet I get nowadays and I always prefer the buyer to try the goods first if I can. Normally a mutually convenient location can be found and combined with a day out somewhere. But I have posted before, it’s easy. Hard case (add the cost of a cheap one to the item price), foam and bubble wrap, bicycle box and tape. Unless I’m in a real rush though I’ll wait for a meet up scenario.
  10. That’s because I hid the thread
  11. I've noticed that too on some threads - not sure why. Probably a bug that's been fixed in the latest release which I hope @charic can install soon
  12. Here you go. Sorry it didn’t work but it’s the software we’re using that isn’t set up to do that easily. Cheers https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/411789-special-offer/
  13. As long as you send it insured and 100% insist on this as a seller then it’s a lot easier to send it yourself and makes it much easier to sell your stuff.
  14. Items under £50 are free but need to be manually approved so people don’t cheat. Just approved yours!
  15. It doesn’t disconnect that battery when you use the switch because if it did you’d get a loud pop when you switch on. I think. Also battery life should be thousands of hours in any case so just change it when you change strings or have a spare in your gig bag.

    Your Go To Bass

Excuse me but that bass only has one knob less than mine! And TWO switches!! But it's OK because you're a mod. Good work.
  17. Love the look of this thing. Any sounds?

    Your Go To Bass

15 years as my #1. In that time it’s seen off Alembics, Marleaux, Smith, Fender, Bossa, Bacchus, Musicman, Fender, Pedulla, Carvin.. even other Vigiers!! It’s comfy like an old jumper.
  19. Indeed - BC will cover it no worries. Let me know
  20. Thanks, I've taken the original down now so have hidden the update too - I'll hopefully have something else made soon but not sure it's possible with the software!!
  21. Hi folks I recently posted a discount offer for people to buy a yearly sub at 70% discount. It was meant to be for people who don't already have a sub, but unfortunately too many people paid when they already have a subscription, causing complications and a fair amount of legwork my end to stop renewals for two subs at once. It all got complicated and I've had to remove the offer for the time being until I can find a way of making it bullet proof for people who don't like reading instructions! Watch this space - If you had paid yesterday or today don't worry everything is sorted but I am not able to spend hours correcting issues where some ended up with two subs. Cheers ped
  22. I don’t think they have a tone control for some reason so lots of people add them. Yes the SB body is lovely, like a slimmed down and more comfortable P.
  23. G&L SB1 is the best P bass imo. Lovely things. Not just because I have one for sale!
  24. Luckily my bass is graphite so easy to disinfect compared to wood which is probably harbouring Covid-19 in its pores.
  25. I doubt even John Hall will be pestering this guy
