  1. Hi guys A Two Factor Authentication (2FA) option has just been enabled for all members. We strongly suggest you take advantage of this option to keep your account safe from anyone else logging in as you, for example if someone obtains your password or login credentials (particularly if you use the same details on other sites). If you're not familiar, it'll mean that you'll need to carry out a second step when logging in (or carrying out any of the actions below) by one of two methods - either entering the answers to three security questions which you can set up yourself, or by using Google Authenticator which generates a code for you to enter when prompted whilst logging in to BC. Other 2FA apps may be compatible in the future but for now the software supports these two options only. Rest assured it's easy and helps secure your account which is becoming increasingly important. If you use the 'remember me' box when logging in, you will not have to use 2FA every time you log in on that device. Access your 2FA setting here https://www.basschat.co.uk/settings/account-security/ 2FA is required when: Changing email address - The user will also need to re-enter their password. Logging in from a new device Managing Authorized Devices Logging into AdminCP Updating two-factor authentication setup, changing the online status visibility, requesting PII data or account deletion. Changing password Managing alternative contacts Viewing, withdrawing or topping up account credit Managing PayPal Subscriptions Managing stored cards Editing personal billing information Managing addresses Any questions or concerns just let me know! Cheers Chris
  2. Oh wow that’s awesome. I can appreciate how big the Love Bomb is now next to the TINY big muff!! Have you got the Electric Mistress resting on something to get it slanted towards you?
  3. It’ll only draw the power it needs as long as the voltage is correct, so don’t worry
  4. Weird how the original companies don’t release these pedals themselves, people have been slagging off the bypass on the original for ages
  5. OK not quite
  6. Probably not that exciting but after using a Boss WL20 for a while I used a cable again the other day (A Fender tweed one) and remembered how annoying they are - not very flexible and they always want to coil in the wrong direction. I made a cheeky offer on two of these 20ft Gibson cables on eBay and got them (two for £50, they're £39 each normally). I have to say, I'm really pleased. They came recommended by a friend because they're quite thin and don't have the long rubber boot that you get on many standard cables. The jacks are by Switchcraft, and they have a lifetime warranty. Anyway they feel great, roll up small and definitely get in the way a lot less. Sound wise, I'm comparing to a Vovox cable I was given (that retails for £100) and there's barely any difference, in fact I think the Gibson is a tad brighter - maybe a tiny bit nosier but then it's twice as long as the vovox. And the pack is in BC colours, too! I actually think the orange is nearly the same 🤩
  7. Oh and whilst I’m here - I don’t think any strap makes a super heavy bass worth it. I’ve had to sell some seriously heavy basses because at the end of the day weight is weight and even some made my leg go dead when I played sitting down 😂
  8. I don’t know either 🤷🏻‍♂️
  9. I think the difference wood makes is a different difference to that made by pickups.
  10. I think it's true what he says - it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, as long as the player feels happy either way (like, 'this sounds warmer because it's rosewood!' or 'I just like the way this looks') then that's good. Same with our pedals - probably nobody else cares at all whether your envelope filter attack is adjustable or not. But in this day and age where everything is about convenience, similarity, efficiency and cost, I think we're lucky to have refuge in arguing about the nuances of something as minor as tonewoods, and if we feel empowered one way or the other, that's cool.
  11. I wouldn't mind so much if it was for things I was watching, but it does it for things I've merely viewed. As a seller I have been asked to 'message all viewers with an offer'. Conversely, sometimes I get 'watched item reminders' for items which I am not, or never have, watched.
  12. Tell you what’s even more annoying than a buyer haggling - the seller, specifically on eBay. Take for example yesterday I spent a good hour looking at Russian cameras on eBay. This morning I have six ‘offers’ from sellers, each comes with a notification, an email and a pop up in the app which I then need to mark as read (this is all in app, so doesn’t include any push/badges) and after that they still show for a week or so as offers on my home page which I must either ignore or decline, even if I had no intention of buying anyway.
  13. I started watching Radiohead 1997 instead this eve
  14. I tried to listen to Corinne Bailey Rae but just like when I listened to her new album I was left agog at the complete left turn she has taken. Awful imo. I feel like Olivia Dean has picked up where she left off.
  15. I think so, should last about 5 hours
  16. Just watching Olivia Dean on iplayer. Very good band, and audio mix is pretty decent. Worth a watch - not sure about anyone else!
  17. Haha well I make no promises. I got the Fuzz first (grey one) because I read about it somewhere and saw a video on YT. KGB stands for Keys, Guitar Bass (as I believe it did in the former Soviet Union). This video gives a pretty good demo, although his 'clean' sound is pretty gnarly already. But the fuzz is super thick and sludgy, and infinitely tweakable. The impedance control is soooo useful in changing the response. I liked it so much that I wanted the Distortion version, which the founder old me would suit my lower gain needs. This has selectable diodes, and each sounds very different - the Germanium circuit can slightly overlap with the fuzz if cranked. Where it excels is in breathy, cutting and warm overdrive - for that I use the silicon circuit and again the impedance control alters the way the clipping interacts with your playing. I think the pedal in the video above must be an earlier model as it doesn't have the polarity switch. I find that really useful, I run the fuzz at 180 so you get some massive cascading fatness without ever getting wooly or indistinct. When I had my tall font Sovtek Big Muff I was able to exactly match it's sound using the valco (voice 1, 110k, fuzz on full, tone at 9 o'clock and mix full). He gets nearly there in the video at 9:15 I don't think there's a decent bass orientated vido of the Dist on YT. I actually have the loop pedal, too - but don't currently have a use for it. What's also cool is that on the fuzz you can add tone, which is what you need to cut through, and on the dist you can cut top end, which is what I want at lower gain to add warmth. They're very well designed IMO. The more guitar orientated pedal the 'Bloodbuzz' is a clone of the Lovetone Cheese Sauce. I think that was their first, and probably why they use these enclosures. Honestly it's happened by accident that I happen to love the Valco and the Lovetone pedals over anything else!
  18. Cheers mate I've never been happier tbh. I never thought mustangs would be my taste in all honesty but I'm a total convert.
  19. ped

    Envelope filters

Sounds almost identical - I presume you can adjust filter parameters using the knobs?
  20. I’ve been playing mine in all sorts of environments for a while now and I’m 100% chuffed with it. Sounds amazing 🤩
  21. I mean, if I could afford it
  22. It looks like it’s original yeah, although normally there’s a bit more shrinkage. Tempted to have it for flats and keep rounds on the other 🤔
  23. I'm trying not to buy this at the moment https://reverb.com/uk/item/82944354-fender-mustang-bass-1966 £2880 isn't too bad, the only thing is that I'm not wild about tort
  24. You’ve got to know when to quit when haggling. It should be good natured and respectful but when it gets to this point I agree it’s a massive red flag and becomes really irritating.
  25. Here's a search for Vigier, most recent results first. You can use this to change the search to whatever you're looking for. https://www.basschat.co.uk/search/?q=vigier&quick=1&type=forums_topic&nodes=19&updated_after=any&sortby=newest&search_in=titles
