  1. I learned slap by jamming along with the baselines by rap pioneers like Grandmaster Flash and Funky 4+1. Although often sampled by similar artists, many of the best tunes had live baselines played over a groove and were amazing for practicing fills and space.
  2. Indeed, and you'd better have a red carpet handy. Let me know when and where and I'll let my driver know. Ideally the venue will have helicopter landing if possible.
  3. I'd be up for a NE bash too
  4. That’s brilliant - Ashdown have a superb reputation here for supporting their customers. 👏
  5. Trade offers by PM only thanks @Gianlu Beautuful bass, love it!
  6. One of my all time faves. I absolutely love the laid back groove on ‘make me wanna holler’ some of the bass fills towards the end of the track are just perfect. Also love the bit at the end of ‘faggot’ where it sounds like she starts to play over the rear pickup.
  7. Sorry I don’t understand - I’m just saying you should send him a PM instead of asking him to send you one. Might be easier.
  8. You could PM him 🤔
  9. Sounds like a Warwick. No distortion/drive necessary.
  10. That sort of growl comes from the bass, if we're referring to the same thing. Got samples? (referring to OP post)
  11. Thanks, deleted and banned yesterday after several reports.
  12. Thanks!
  13. I think the OP is talking about bass guitars 😂 How about a wardrobe guitar hanger? Instant ‘closet classic’ and pretty hidden away - also if they’re found they aren’t in cases so much harder to nick. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Closet-Guitar-hanger-CGH01-Hanger/dp/B00A3L4L6U
  14. Wrap the cases in cling film all over and several layers to stop any moisture getting in.
  15. I mean it’s not cheap but it’s probably what you’d expect for a Fullerton made instrument, the fact it’s a few inches shorter than a normal scale bass doesn’t mean it’s going to be much cheaper.
  16. I’ve always used extra light strings so extra light flats just felt right. If I try playing anything approaching 45 I feel like my hands are numb!
  17. @Ashdown Engineering get him!
  18. Hold on are we talking about a twisted neck or one that’s got too much relief?
  19. I don’t get it...
  20. A ramp does NOT compensate for poor technique. It’s simply a device to change the feel of a bass. Saying you don’t understand why such a good player uses one is like saying you don’t understand why a good player might use a certain string gauge. And you can absolutely dig in with a ramp. You just alter your attack in the smallest way and you can do just as much as you can with a higher action.
  21. The nice thing about a P with flats is that it almost feels like a different instrument - for a while I tried to get flats that sounded more like rounds until I realised that the beauty was in how different it sounded to anything else. If I want modern or zingy I'll use summat else. I've been almost exclusively playing my P/flats for a few weeks now but just busted out the Smith or some zing and it's an incredibly feeling to go from one to the other - I'm sure it makes you appreciate both even more!
  22. Thanks - I don’t have that info unfortunately...
  23. Are the Low Tension Labellas lower tension than the 760fx? Because the FX have a 0.039 G and the LTF have a 0.043 which I’d have thought would be higher
  24. Welcome to Mick’s eBay habit 😂
