  1. Interesting you say that. I tend to play mine with a totally different hand position, side on the bridge, and use three fingers and palm muting. I’m used to a really low action so I don’t find any issue with hammers but I’m using standard strings so probably just used to them.
  2. Les ‘built in’ and more ‘stuck on with foam tape’ 😂
  3. At your service! 23” is far to long for me 😂
  4. Very not. 😂 The problem being that it would require ads to have extra fields to be filtered into and you know how long it took us to get a location field sorted - it’s unbelievably complicated unless at some point the software providers add support for it at consumer level.
  5. They're searchable, and clicking on one will show other topics with the same tag. In a tagged thread. ones with similar tags will be shown in a preview on the RHS of the screen. I suppose also they're a quick way to highlight key things about a topic. They're designed and implemented by the people who make the software so we're limited in what we can do by their design, and it's not something important enough for us to break out and custom code for specific behaviour just yet.
  6. I don't think we can make tags mandatory so it's currently up to the seller to take advantage of them. However I am looking at adding one selling tips to payment receipts and will mention about using tags in there.
  7. I can't remember what happened to mine but I bought it from a session player in London. I remember getting the Oxford Tube coach to London and how I opened up the case on the way back to try it out, I just couldn't wait! It was a great bass - one knob was missing which had been replaced by an EHX type one from what looked like a Q-tron pedal but I did;t mind for some reason and left it. It was a PJ setup, barts. I still think that all my base shave been bought and sold as a result of that one - I haven't had to significantly dip into my bank account because that bass was the initial capital and I've traded well over the years. I must say I am not so fond of the MVP shape now - but back then I loved it. Funny how tastes change. The other bass I got from this guy was shell pink '57 RI Precision, again a good price and it was alright but somehow it just never worked for me and I sold that on quickly. I think I bought a Marleaux with the funds.
  8. Episode 4 May 2019: Episode 4 contains a chat with bass player Jimmy Simms, who has played for Amy Macdonald, The Saturdays, Bryan Ferry, George Ezra and many many more. His touring and recording schedule is non-stop, and in this episode he talks with us about balancing work with family, being a gear nerd and accordion factories.
  9. You'd think the technology isn't far away through - latency shouldn't be an issue with enough bandwidth. Would be really great if it happened soon. In the meantime you can try collaboration sites where you download a song that needs bass and send it back. I used to do that a lot and really enjoyed it.
  10. If it’s going to be a player then I’d get whatever strings I like for it rather than making them part of the colour scheme, but if you like some with red silk that’s a bonus. I think the black/red/black scratch plate will be enough tbh. Looks great though, I really like grey.
  11. Yep personally I’d go with regular strings with red silks if poss, then a red switch cover over the jack socket or the tone control
  12. It’s due to the adverts being served on site which have been tricked into forcing redirects. I’ve raised it to have them flagged and removed but in the meantime I’ve disabled the ads. Sorry about that - but it can happen to any site at any time and is getting increasingly common, even though companies like Google do intercept most of them. If you were effected before you can clear your cache memory if you still see it Cheers
  13. Alternatively it could start a whole new area of mindless panic about the weight of the stands, not to mention relative heft of steel over alloy and whether the size and shape of the feet make any difference to the sound!
  14. Oh definitely, I want it to work!
  15. Thanks guys he's a little belter! I used to hate it when people posted pics of their kids and I always said I'd never do it, but here I am. Might as well go and buy a Rick now!
  16. Just wanted to make sure my mate dUg gets a mention on this page. dUg
  17. My first decent bass was an 88 MVP. My username is a shortened version of my original name on bassworld, pedullaman. Cheers to Mike and Christine and thanks for all the gear 👍🏼
  18. I think the ‘hottest’ P pickup is the G&L MFD. mine is the highest output bass I’ve got and they’re passive. They’re about $70 new from the states but I’ve seen them go used for just about your budget if you can find one. The nice thing is that you can reign in the output with the volume control which also changes the character. Worth a look perhaps.
  19. Don't know why but the abbreviation of the brand name to 'Nordy' kind of annoys me too
  20. My money is on a dry solder joint. I’ve had a few HA3500 heads in the past (they’re excellent!) and two had the same problem. It was fixed at the time by my amp guy but I’m afraid I didn’t remember where the joint was but it must have been fairly obvious. Its a well known and documented issue with these amps I think.
  21. Hi folks Some of you know that in November my wife and I had a little boy called Frederick. I'm happy to report that he's a proper music fan - he really listens and chills right out when there's something playing. I'm a bit worried he'll become a drummer like his uncle so I've started him on a fairly rigorous series of bass lessons before sending him off to study with @devinebass for a few years (whenever you're ready Scott) I have my mini 16" bass for him to play with when he can sit up properly. Should make one fret per finger easier, too. Today was lesson 1 - basic familiarisation. Bearing in mind he'll one day inherit Basschat, you should all be very nice to him. ped
  22. I had one of these a say first decent bass amp... they are absolutely superb and for £30?! crazy.

    Zoom B1 Four

I don’t know if I was clear enough regarding noise - my B1on is noiseless when you’re not playing (after some careful tweaking and with amp sims off) but there’s digital noise when playing, ‘behind’ the sound, and noticeable especially when notes decay.
  24. You should ditch Photobucket and use Imgbb from now on, it’s excellent 👍🏻

    Does it sound better?
