Genuine question - not trying to stir anything up - but how can Limelight sell these new with the Fender logo on them - are they genuine Fenders that have been 'modified' by them, or what?

“Congrats you have won a prize” pop up?

Elixir have confirmed it's not them, so they're back on (as of yesterday afternoon) Currently testing Google ads. We're probably moving away from those anyway in the next few months (watch this space for more info as and when) Thanks all, please report any others! -
Thanks mate yes those are similar but the SB1 ones have a black edge. Maybe they're 22mm too, then - in which case I've got the right ones. I'll probably keep the original worn out ones on it though I think. BTW whilst searching for the SB1 knobs I found that those ones on your bass are apparently REALLY sought after and hard to find! Take care of them!

Yeah thanks buddy I think given the choice I’d go for the thinner gauge over lighter tension anyhow, I basically can’t deal with a G string bigger than 0.040. Thanks for the heads up. BTW I didn’t cut the strings as per instructions and followed EB’s recommended wrap technique and still found them almost too long to wrap around neatly.

Yeah ok please - just out of interest. The ones I have are either 17.9mm (look small) or 22mm (look big!) Thanks

‘Coz I keep touching it with my thumb, it’s where I tend to anchor my claw!

Took some snaps this morning. You can see it's a real 'players' bass! I've got it set up just right now and have been really enjoying playing it. I'll record something soon! The neck is a really nice golden colour and it feels excellent. In terms of the grounding issue, tbh I'm not sure it's not just shielding that could be added; my lamp adds some noise and with that off it's OK - also the patch I was using on my VB99 was basically the one I use with my Smith (which is pretty much clean) so this morning I made a dedicated patch for the SB1 and after tweaking the limiter and amp settings for this bass it's fine. I may still get some shielding added at some point but with a bit of noise limiter on that patch you can only now hear it on long sustained notes and definitely not in a mix. Really pleased with it

Yes it could have been this page? https://www.digikey.com/products/en/hardware-fasteners-accessories/knobs/568 I had a hard time tracking down the older style G&L ones and I'm still not 100% sure they're the right size (anyone able to measure the diameter of theirs?) but I think I'll leave the chrome (original) knobs on this as they're nicely worn like the rest of the bass... the new ones stand out too much!

Yes getting the balance of everything takes time. I find it easiest to adjust things in order, relief first, then action at bridge, if no adjustment then tilt.
-
No worries mate I’m hoping to get the grounding sorted tomorrow so will do one ASAP 👍🏼👍🏼

Weird, we were just talking about my SB1 with a tilt neck. I think they are really useful with bolt on basses. I used the G&L guide which is linked below. The aim of the game is to give yourself more adjustment with the saddles. For example when my bass arrived the amsaddles were dropped low but I wanted lower on the G but it was maxed out. Tilt the neck a little and you can now raise it to get the low action you want. I guess drawbacks would be getting the tilt mixed up with the neck relief and getting more confused! http://glguitars.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/GLmanual.pdf

Ok chaps just disabled all ads for a day or so - can you let me know if you see it again (also what device/OS you’re using?) Might be best to cleat your cache first so we know if it’s a new instance. Cheers folks -
Yeah I think at some point the SB1 got the thinner SB2 neck or something? Either way it has a lovely profile and a deep golden gloss finish. I really appreciate the micro tilt facility on bolt on necks, too. Enables perfect adjustment. Rather liking the cobalt flats, too. Can be tamed nicely with the tone and vol knobs, they feel great (low tension - I went for the lightest) and very full sound. I haven’t used TI flats for a while but I’m sure I prefer these.

Cheers bro yes the MFDs are great pickups. Nut width is about 42mm

Ok I’ve disabled google ads, let’s see if that makes a difference? -
Alright dudes I picked up the bass this afternoon and have spent the evening cleaning and setting it up. Its come out properly nice - nicely played in but not abused. The neck is lovely, a really nice piece of maple and straight as an arrow. Haven’t had to touch the truss rod. Strung her up and used the micro tilt to raise the heel a little to give me more to play with in the bridge saddles. Now the action is super low with no choking. Great! Will post pics tomorrow - only one issue; there’s a grounding problem. It hums unless I touch a control knob. Goes nuts if I touch the pole pieces and touching the strings doesn’t ground it. I checked the wires and all seem ok; bridge ground is attached (or feels it, anyway) and all ok near the jack. Have defeated the him with my noise gate mostly but will probably take it to the tech in York to sort as it should be pretty quiet. The pickup is excellent, lots of sounds on tap but it has that kind or growly chocolatey gravel honk that I was after Cheers

I did try nylon tapes a while back but found them a bit too extreme in terms of old school. Really liked TI flats but I reckon the cobalts should be fun. They’re just sitting in the office looking at me asking where their home will be

Hello inspector! It was moved from elsewhere into the wanted forum. I’ll have a full report on your desk by the morning Over and out
-
Yes it's nice and slim - a good evolution of the original design if you ask me!
-
Nope, still in customs. Reckon they're playing it or something, maybe they had a gig this weekend. Not holding my breath!
-
Doubt they’ll ever find the body

I’m not sure about your distinction between a public and private advert? And no, negative comments on price are not acceptable. If the seller wants £XYZ for it then that’s up to them. If it’s too high it won’t sell. The market regulates itself.
