  1. Yep personally I’d go with regular strings with red silks if poss, then a red switch cover over the jack socket or the tone control
  2. It’s due to the adverts being served on site which have been tricked into forcing redirects. I’ve raised it to have them flagged and removed but in the meantime I’ve disabled the ads. Sorry about that - but it can happen to any site at any time and is getting increasingly common, even though companies like Google do intercept most of them. If you were effected before you can clear your cache memory if you still see it Cheers
  3. Alternatively it could start a whole new area of mindless panic about the weight of the stands, not to mention relative heft of steel over alloy and whether the size and shape of the feet make any difference to the sound!
  4. Oh definitely, I want it to work!
  5. Thanks guys he's a little belter! I used to hate it when people posted pics of their kids and I always said I'd never do it, but here I am. Might as well go and buy a Rick now!
  6. Just wanted to make sure my mate dUg gets a mention on this page. dUg
  7. My first decent bass was an 88 MVP. My username is a shortened version of my original name on bassworld, pedullaman. Cheers to Mike and Christine and thanks for all the gear 👍🏼
  8. I think the ‘hottest’ P pickup is the G&L MFD. mine is the highest output bass I’ve got and they’re passive. They’re about $70 new from the states but I’ve seen them go used for just about your budget if you can find one. The nice thing is that you can reign in the output with the volume control which also changes the character. Worth a look perhaps.
  9. Don't know why but the abbreviation of the brand name to 'Nordy' kind of annoys me too
  10. My money is on a dry solder joint. I’ve had a few HA3500 heads in the past (they’re excellent!) and two had the same problem. It was fixed at the time by my amp guy but I’m afraid I didn’t remember where the joint was but it must have been fairly obvious. Its a well known and documented issue with these amps I think.
  11. Hi folks Some of you know that in November my wife and I had a little boy called Frederick. I'm happy to report that he's a proper music fan - he really listens and chills right out when there's something playing. I'm a bit worried he'll become a drummer like his uncle so I've started him on a fairly rigorous series of bass lessons before sending him off to study with @devinebass for a few years (whenever you're ready Scott) I have my mini 16" bass for him to play with when he can sit up properly. Should make one fret per finger easier, too. Today was lesson 1 - basic familiarisation. Bearing in mind he'll one day inherit Basschat, you should all be very nice to him. ped
  12. I had one of these a say first decent bass amp... they are absolutely superb and for £30?! crazy.

I don’t know if I was clear enough regarding noise - my B1on is noiseless when you’re not playing (after some careful tweaking and with amp sims off) but there’s digital noise when playing, ‘behind’ the sound, and noticeable especially when notes decay.
  14. You should ditch Photobucket and use Imgbb from now on, it’s excellent 👍🏻

    Does it sound better?

When you’re ‘in’ an effect do the physical knobs adjust the parameters of it?
  18. Pics updated. Worth mentioning that for about £100 you can get the internal pickup kit so there’s no extra cables and bit attached to the bass. It’s called the GK-kit-BG I have two basses with them in. And don’t forget that even without a GK bass, it’s a superb quality studio pre-amp, multi fx and do it all audio interface.
  19. Lol yeah maybe. It was an iRig 2 and iPad. Shame because it could have been quite handy
  20. I found some latency on the iRig
  21. Email them to me and I’ll sort it Chris at Basschat co uk
  22. No the problem is with Photophucket - just drag the pics into the editor directly instead
  23. Weirdly I haven’t ever been affected by the death of a musician I’ve liked. Or is that weird? I don’t know... I liked a lot of Michael Jackson’s music but his death didn’t worry me as I didn’t know him. Same with Walter Becker. Maybe it’s because although I love their music I don’t necessarily love them - I’ve never met most of them and even if I did my interest in them starts and ends with their music. I don’t know if that makes me cold or something but I always think it’s strange when there’s a national mourning when someone like Witney Houston dies and all of a sudden everyone loves her music. Obviously it’s sad when anyone dies so don’t get me wrong, but unless they’re family of a friend then it just seems too abstract to me.
  24. I don’t think he meant it literally
