  1. Didn’t Status offer ‘Smart Basses’ for a while that were sort of custom jobs from off the shelf parts? Kinda looks like one of those.
  2. Sorry yes I know it's not the help you want - give the above method a go, good luck
  3. It’s quite a big hole to fill if it’s the Dunlop system. Instead, I’d stick with it and get Dunlop pins for the other basses (they do non recessed ones that you can use with a normal strap). Much better than the schaller nonsense!
  4. No probs let me know if I can help with anything else
  5. Install a Roland GK pickup and you can put virtual pickups anywhere you like
  6. Welcome, you must be reading the same thread as me on Talkbass! Hope you enjoy the forum.
  7. Stay out of that too then. Or think before you post. Last warning. ⚠️
  8. I can do what I like! A ban is looking good right now. My advertisers will be happy too. Suggest you stay out of Off Topic or you’ll find you no longer have access.
  9. Best: Smith BT5. I put a wanted ad up here and was lucky that I got talking to a brilliant BCer. I’ve wanted a Smith for the longest time but got very much sidetracked buying and playing Vigiers. Finally I arrived at a lout where I was so happy with my number one Vigier that I was able to think seriously about a Smith. After getting in touch and negotiating a price I suddenly lost most of the money I had fenced off. The seller was a legend and waited for me for a few months and I was finally able to buy it. I had to sell a few bits including a couple of fantastic basses but it was well worth it. The sound is exactly what I wanted; ever since playing Kiwi’s Smith several years ago I’ve admired the feel and sound of them. It’s got that plinky tip end and juicy bass sound that just is so recognisable. It’s immaculately put together.
  10. I think pickup position is the biggest factor. A few MM in either direction radically changes the tone in a way that cannot be mimicked with EQ or anything else. For example how different does a P sound to a J, with otherwise very similar construction? Or how different does the front pickup sound to the back in a J?
  11. Bet it sounds a bit ‘boxy’ Ha!
  12. I always put mine before a limiter and find it works better with a single pickup. The two controls are really sensitive and you can tame it in all sorts of ways. I also found the pedal varies hugely depending on the version. I've had about all of them now and even found the green sparkle finish in the video varied a lot.
  13. Yeah I ordered my TwentyFour directly from a chap at Deviser Japan (who I think own the bacchus brand?) and he tracked one down for me. The 02-Strong Jazz I got from Ishibashi U-Box.
  14. @bass_japan_directUsed to import these for customers, not sure if that's still the case?
  15. Email John Hall, I’m sure he’d be accommodating and grown up about it How about a drip of clear nail varnish?
  16. They’re lovely. I had a 02-strong model, 36” jazz. Fantastic build and sound. Only sold it because it had a beautiful pearl binding around the top but no forearm cutaway. Also had a Twentyfour model which was superb, too. Think I sold it to buy a car a while ago. So yes I highly recommend them 👍🏼
  17. That’s perfect thanks very much for that 👍🏼
  18. I had one for years until I updated to the VB99. Just as @EMG456 says it’s a great unit for basses with the synth pickup (two of mine have them) and excellent as a preamp/fx unit for anything else.
