  1. Was it an acoustic? Could have been a Gillett perhaps? Friends of the forum and lovely people I think they’ve displayed at folk festivals before http://www.gillettguitars.co.uk/range/bass-guitars @Gillett Guitars
  2. You could possibly dangle a Stafford from it hehe as if!
  3. Good idea - I just found how how inaccurate my bathroom scales were - kitchen scales much better but not as easy to use with a bass!
  4. They seem to enjoy doing that - I was also buzzed by two Tornados when I was on my first solo at Perth, Scotland. When I came to land it was really windy and they made me use the grass runway, which hadn't been used so far that year and the grass was as long as the field it was in, so very difficult to see. When I was leaning on the door on my final turn it popped open and I nearly fell out! Happy days.
  5. Me too! What did you learn in? Mine was a Cessna 152 probably quite ubiquitous
  6. I've been tempted with one like that but would want to saw off the front part, presumably designed for an acoustic. I think Ibanez make one similar but it looks a bit 'sharp' https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ibanez-Pocket-PT32BK-Electric-Guitar/dp/B0091RENSI Again not ideal for asymmetrical shapes I did buy one of these, was OK - you may be able to 'bend' the 'hands' of the stand to accommodate an odd shape perhaps https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Mini-Foldable-Electric-Guitar-Stand-B-Stock/2KB8
  7. See if you can try one - it might sit OK but because of the design the bass might be rather close to the floor if it's in the stand at an angle.
  8. Hercules mini? Love mine. Basses lean back in it a bit more than normal and they only work with symmetrical basses really.... otherwise worth a look?
  9. Thanks for sharing that. He sounds pretty cool.
  10. Welcome Del, go on then tell us about your EHX stuff!
  11. Quick snap of my top three! Or is that two and a half 🤔
  12. I very rarely see a combo in a tilt back stand, but I see what you mean. Horses for courses I suppose. One is as annoying as the other (and you have to take a stand with you!)
  13. Makes sense on a combo, so you can look down at the dials - otherwise you have to crouch down in front. Kinda prefer it tbh.
  14. I still can't 100% get with headless basses (except of course my mini bass lol) but I do think this one has a certain something. Headless or not, Bacchus basses are up there with the very best I've played.
  15. Just a quick note guys due to previous legal threats and posturing by Rickenbacker Corp, please keep any personal feelings about John Hall to yourselves and make sure you don't accidentally post any links in here to any Ricks for sale, home made or otherwise. Otherwise go for it - we love seeing home builds! Cheers
  16. That was a Bacchus too but a jazz bass type. Yeah it had a Villex booster and a Bassmute on the bridge. The model above is a headless version of their 'TwentyFour' shape. Mine was gloss black with wood covered pickups, rosewood fretboard, five string.
  17. Yep they're great - I had a headed version and it was superb. Can't really remember why I sold it, think it was because I needed a car at the time... but I ordered it directly from Bacchus who sourced me one from one of their shops in Japan.
  18. Well, don’t worry - just jump in and buy the one you like the look of. Starter basses are so good these days you can’t really go wrong.
  19. Welcome and good choice of basses too. Try and play them if you can but otherwise go for what you like the look of and enjoy it.
  20. I'll stick to what I know - forums - not much else - but happy to provide the facility if anyone gets a group together!
  21. Get them from strings direct 👍🏼 You'll love them!
