Just spoken to them and it's on it's way here; I'll give it a whirl then send it on to you if that' OK? Can you PM me your address and so forth, plus the name of someone who you know might like to try it next? Cheers ped

I'm using the one(s) in my Roland now, I think one is based on the LMB3 I guess as it's also Roland, but like most of the settings it has far more points to adjust than the actual pedal (also has attack, release, blend, tone). I think the mark of a good limiter (other than build quality, adjustability, feel, looks, size, power supply) is that it basically doesn't make any noise and does what it says on the tin. There shouldn't be anything to compare between units apart from that, unless one isn't limiting properly or is a pain to use or something. I think of it like a clip light and not as an influence on the overall sound.

I’m answering your question here... this thread IS your question.

Means they ‘liked’ it basically. Bottom right if any post there are options to react, happy, sad, thanks, like etc. Understandably you have several ‘love’ reactions to your case 🙂

It’s mainly down to the ratio. I like how my bass sounds when pushed to the ‘limit’ - the threshold set to limit when I dig in. With a very low action and a light touch it gives me full dynamics but a shelf where my digging in creates a smoother sound, a bit of clank and burp. If I turn it off I don’t hear much difference except some volume spikes when playing hard fingerstyle. I think it makes the bass easier to settle in the mix and helps me cut through live. Finally I’m after some of that graphite consistency and velvety smoothness. Kiwi once compared my Vigier passion sound to a ‘velvet covered brick’ (played by a mongoloid) I also like how modulation effects behave when using a limiter. They tend to react more readily to a limited signal than a compressed one. Every bass behaves differently so each has its own setting with a careful balance between threshold and ratio to get it just right. Some wooden necked basses need a bit more fiddling but as I say I find graphite remarkably even and consistent anyway. I’ll see if I can scrape together some recordings later.

I don’t think you can now. Emojis are taking over!

Ah I see! I had a hard time finding spares for mine. The splines are 6mm are they not, and the knobs collet fixing type?

I'm not the biggest fan of fanned fret designs but I wish when companies did them they'd slant the pickup housings to match, so they are a trapezoid shape instead of angled rectangles

I'll give you a clue... it's a five string, made in New York, now made in Pennsylvania (since 1995)

I haven't bought a bass for a while but I recently bought something I've been after for years. I paid via Paypal a few weeks ago but I didn't realise (and it didn't warn me) that unless a debit card is associated with your account the money sends as an 'e-cheque' which took a loooong time to clear. Luckily I wasn't in a rush and the seller was fine with it. I wish I'd known otherwise I'd have used Transferwise which I really like for international payments. Anyway my friend at Elixir sent me some strings for it (super light 5's) and I have my signature finger puppets ready to adorn the tuners of said instrument. it'll be here on Friday or maybe next week. DPD are the courier and yes it's fully insured! Fingers crossed for me please...

Done. I have just had another despite clearing my browser cache so have reported that too.

Very nice, my Passion is '88 too. Where did you get the green control knobs!

Ah just looked it up - Belgian 'style' but US brewed: https://www.bluemoonbrewingcompany.com

Welcome! Is your username after the beer? I checked out a local bar yesterday and had a pint of blue moon with a slice of orange. It was really really good. Belgian wheat beer I think.

I think GB was the importer of these. Apparently they’re ok for the money. Ken Smith ‘design’

Come to York for a beer any time [Edit] I'm not actually sure about the get scene in York, it's probably quite good, lots of live venues anyway - but most bands I am tempted to go and see are in Leeds (which puts me off!) Guess it depends what sort of band you're in, too.
-
Busses in York are pretty good but I think Leeds is better connected like that - not that I go often. The train from York to London is brea, if that's a factor. I moved from Oxford to York and absolutely love it!
-
Leeds for gigs but York for culture, history, lack of yobs and general niceness

WISH. Elixir strings for crazy price.

Just be careful of fakes. Presume these will be ok as it’s a proper retailer (or so it seems) Di they have them in different gauges? Can’t see on mobile due to a great big ‘sign up’ box -
Looks cool. I can fit my wing into my normal rucksack and I’ve taken it all kinds of places! We should have a competition to see who can ‘wing in the weirdest location 😂

You could cut a custom shaped foam insert for a pedalboard bag so it fills the whole thing and adds protection. Could be pretty cool. An option I looked into (mine has a gigbag but I toyed with the idea) would be a ‘light’ flight case. They’re a bit like aluminium briefcases with specially cut inners. Here’s one I looked at: http://www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk/type/index.asp?section=lightweight-spiderlite-semi-flight-cases-7818

We flagged him as a spammer on the 10th so he must have just emailed you in time. As I say hopefully we won't see him again after my little trick. Let's see.
