  1. If I had my way everyone would be getting a 17” scale synth stick
  2. Yeah. I did try using two nuts for a while which helped IIRC
  3. Aye but loads of people seem to have the problem - Schaller themselves too, apparently. FWIW I always cut away the strap hole area to fit but they still worked loose. I specifically remember tightening it so much that I asked my housemates at the time to see if they could tighten it any more. It came loose within a month.
  4. It appears that many of you have ‘hacks’ that make them secure - now Schiller have released their own hack. IMO if they were designed well in the first place they wouldn’t need loctite, special straps, washers, etc. I remember nearly every bass having them when I started playing but I think better alternatives exist now. Its like having a slow puncture. Yeah you can pump it up once a week and it’s ok, or get it fixed. One could suddenly fail and leave you in a mess, the other doesn’t.
  5. I was getting some funny looks at the time... the horse didn’t seem to mind
  6. This comes up quite a bit but the general consensus seem to be yes - if you are committed to putting the time and effort into making the best use of it. @devinebass is on here so maybe he can answer any specific questions but I’d say go for it, it sounds like it might be the boost you need to get back in the horse. Cheers

If you bought it on eBay you can get your money back very easily.
  8. Great, thanks! I'm going to consider one myself so will message him.
  9. Looks great. How have you attached it? How did you measure the curve for him to copy?
  10. I’d park down station lane, there’s a warehouse where Fabukous Bakin’ Boys used to be, I think it’s avenue 2.

Yes, the B1on limiter at least is great - though it can add noise if you aren’t careful. I’ve found when toggling a control in the B1on sometimes changing the value by just 1 will introduce noise and that might go away if you go up one more, for example. It can be fiddly but I managed to make a really quiet ‘clean’ patch by taking time to balance the DI5, limiter, para EQ and modreverb. That said, there’s still some slight noise you can hear as a note decays, for example - but then from a £20 battery powered pedal I expected much worse. Not a problem in the Roland of course but I do love how compact the little Zoom is I love how you also set yourself ‘Effects Homework’ 😂 quite often I’ll think to myself ‘hm I wonder if I add a phaser to that synth how it’ll sound with some tremlo’ Or bookmark a song with a nice synth sound and clear my diary so I can sit all day and make it. 👍🏼
  13. Witney is the spiritual home of Basschat. It was founded at Henry Box School, which you can pelt from the Leys

Well, as I’m sure you know you can make any compressor with infinity ratio act like a limiter. I tend to find in most respects when set up correctly they all sound the same, except for differences like noise, footprint and other settings to play with. I actually find the Boss LMB3 a great limiter, and the enhancer has a place in some applications, like livening up a woolly sounding house amp at certain venues. With enough tweaking for a given instrument I’ve found the limiters in my Roland and Zoom units to be excellent.

I use a limiter and it makes a huge difference. It doesn’t change the sound or dynamics but it prevents any big spikes and gives my bass a definitive ‘level’ which I can be sure will sit in the mix consistently. Especially on the bass notes, I say it makes more of a ‘click’ than a ‘boom’. It also means when I dig in the bass growls up to that ‘wall’ as opposed to making everything else seem quiet. Essential imo!

    London Guitar Show

Looks like quite a good selection so far? I guess that’s guitarists all over - leaving it to the last minute! They’ll probably want to use the booths from the bass show and run up a tab at the coffee shop for us to sort out

If it’s anything like the bass show, most acts will only confirm right at the last minute.
  18. Check out the Bassics range. They post here as @BassicsBod
  19. Pretty cool! I'll send you a PM soon to facilitate.

Make a PayPal claim and get your money back, then buy another.
  21. Or one person buying twelve (which isn’t beyond some of you 😂)
  22. Wouldn’t mind hearing what it sounds like with those strings. In fact I’d love to hear what the fretless sounds like with them.
  23. Possibly - I notice on Elixir the winds seem to be smaller and they look tighter somehow - I have used them on my fretless for years with no problems. You can hear them here if you so desire:
