I've now started modding the Roland Micro Cube somewhat. Nothing OTT but since removing the plastic corner protectors I've also put the rubber feet on the side so the amp sits rotated 90 degrees with the input and controls on the side of the box. This means I can sit on top of it and also it fits under my coffee table without having to remove the lead.
Next I am changing the metal grille for a wooden frame covered with black speaker cloth, which should look quite nice. Hardly warrants a build thread... will update when it happens!
Any tips for covering a wooden frame with cloth? I've got some decent non stretchy stuff that I plan on basically stapling to the frame, then attaching the frame to the cab by using lego bricks or velcro...
I presume covering the existing metal grille with cloth is a no-no, but that said I've only read that in connection with big cabs in large rigs, which might produce flapping against the grille. Hardly an issue in this case...
