I've just sat down with the PX4D and set up my clean preset. It's a great device - really quiet when set up properly (all the presets are rubbish) and it has some great sounding effects, especially the delays and chosussessess. The built in drum patterns are fun, too.. I looked at the Zoom B1on too, it looks great - I'm not such a fa of the floor box format, though. I'm sure it's an excellent box.
Just to piddle on a couple of suggestions so far - the EHX has no aux in, and the PX4D is very noisy.
I think the PX4D CAN be noisy but if you make your own presets and set them up well I've found it to be pretty quiet. My normal setting seems to be an amp head, no cab, little eq, limiter and reverb - there's very little hiss. Certainly not as much as the HB or Vox

I spent ages looking for something. Ended up with a PX4D which I haven't played with much yet but it seems like a great device. My main requirements were light and small, battery powered with reverb, line in and limiter. PX4D does it all and can be quite cheap.
What about this one? very cheap and according to people in TB works very well https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_custom_line_bass_di_ex_b_stock.htm
I had one briefly. Whilst it sounded ok it was a bit noisy, the compressor was quite harsh and even more noisy plus I really missed having reverb for solo practice. I use Bose ae2w headphones which have always been great for bass. They give a nice sound that seems to me the same as the bass does going to desk so I know what I hear is what goes down on the recording.

It’s more likely to be high/less worn frets at the dusty end - a fret dress or similar might be all you need.

It was really nice to meet you at the bash. Welcome to the site, hope you find it useful! Cher’s ped
But on a two-pickup bass one pickup will always be closer to the bridge and the other closer to the neck. To me a "front" pickup would be the one closest on one of the ends of the bass - i.e. the bridge pickup.
You're heavily outnumbered! I'd always call the neck pickup the front pickup.
-
Because it's no more or less meaningful to call it that than it is to call it the front pickup.
But then again as the poll shows, everyone knows what it means so that's why people use it, I suppose. That rhymes, too.

To be honest one of the sweetest sounding Amps I've had was my Hartke HA3500. It might just be rose tinted goggles and due to the fact that I was doing some fun gigs at the time but that paired with 6x10 Hartke speakers (a 210 and 410) I never needed anything else. I focused on my playing more than my gear. Then I started Basschat and started to need/wanted more boutique stuff. To be fair I ended up with a Mesa 400+ which I still think is just the best sounding amp ever but the Hartke was only fractionally not as good in the environments it was being used and it was a lot lighter. Currently have a TC BH800 which I'm using to drive an Eich Bassboard so weirdly despite using it every day I don't really know what it 'sounds' like, but it 'feels' mighty powerful for its size. Those of you fortunate enough (!) to have seen my Bass Bash talk about the Vbass system a few years ago might have been surprised that the auditorium filling sound from my SWR 4x8 and 1x15 was delivered by a cheap 1u no name 400w a side stereo poweramp. Also one of the best sounds I've had. Still got the poweramp but it's not bridgeable so one side didn't drive the Bassboard enough.
Battery solution is a doddle, just sorted all this myself. £50 laptop battery, small and even looks quite smart. Can max out the amp for 2/3hrs easy. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/30-000mAh-External-Battery-LAPTOP-POWER-BANK-Backup-Pack-Phone-Laptops-Tablet/122477559464?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 Double4 not cheap but it's a fantastic piece of kit.
Thanks. Worth considering perhaps but I was surprised that there wasn't a built in battery, something a bit neater.
Ooooh... definitely going on the bucket list. Score for le general ! I saw this when people were talking about it before. It still looks uncomfortable to play, to me, but I'd be happy to be convinced.
I wasn't sure what it would be like so took a punt, and I was amazed how comfy it is. The left corner sits nicely in your leg and it balances in the lap really well. On a strap it's fine though I might experiment with moving the strap button a bit further down the neck although seated the strap tension feels good as it is, with the strap kind of holding the head up.

I was tempted with the pjb double four but I wasn't convinced the battery solution was very neat?
It almost looks photoshopped! Nice work! Edit: I've just scrolled up to compare and it actually looks better than the photoshop mockups.
Cheers, yeah I'm not very good on Photoshop!
