  1. Thanks chaps. The fact is that I probably don’t need one at all as I’m 100% happy with my sound, settings and setup but as I start playing live more I think it might be a useful thing to help with stages, PA and using other amplifiers so perhaps after my comp and before DI is the way to go so nothing changes except the feed out of my board. I may not use it much but along with a good DI I thought it sensible to have as an option under the board.. and you know, gadgets and all.
  2. This was my thinking too. However what if I use my comp as a limiter and quite enjoy the sound of bashing the occasional note into the limiter. I guess after the limiter in that case, so that my sound isn’t changed by the HPF so that I’d have to adjust my limiter for the presumably lower range on the input?
  3. I was thinking about that (having it before any pedals) but then I realised that the Mutron really responds well to bigger sounding basses and I worry that filtering out before that might affect the range of the filter, which, as it stands, is right in the centre of it's useful curve, giving me lots of options. If I filter before that I'd have to up the gain (which can add distortion) or sacrifice some of the range.
  4. Any advice on where to use an HPF, I currently have a chain which goes bass-pedals-comp-DI-output Would it make sense to have it after the DI, before the comp or in between the comp and DI? Or right at the start?! I know, it'll be best to experiment but is there a general consensus?
  5. Thanks @Reggaebass @taunton-hobbit if you go here you should be able to delete them. https://www.basschat.co.uk/attachments/
  6. Have a look at these too if you haven’t already https://myvolts.co.uk/page.php?xPage=MV_Ripcord
  7. I’ve nearly finished - I’ve just added a fantastic Warm Audio passive DI under the board. It was reduced at Gear4music but then I found it for £70 ish at scan.co.uk which is a really good deal.
  8. Hi mate sorry I didn't get a PM from you (my messenger is disabled, actually). Glad you found it though!
  9. Hi Stub, I'm afraid I'm not involved in this work at all, so I don't know, sorry. Having trialled third party ad servers before I know that they often flood the site with incorrect elements which they promised they wouldn't when they 'turn it on' and as a result I should think over the next few days normal service will resume with some clarity over cookies etc.
  10. Mines in Italian too! I’m not involved in this work so I can’t help with it I’m afraid. Personally I think third party ads are a waste of time.
  11. I don’t think his pedals are ‘all that’ anyway especially for the prices.
  12. I’m alright thanks 😆
  13. The Police don’t solve any crime, so it’s probably quite hard to get caught - and if you do, you can just try again when you’re released with less punishment than if you dare to drive your taxed and insured vehicle you’ve bought with taxed income, and filled with taxed fuel, past a ‘safety’ camera on a road you’re taxed for - a road which has been 30mph since you were born which is now 20mph based on nothing. Good eh!
  14. Yeah, mine's like the first one you posted. I think some super early ones had a more pronounced corner near the C in the name on the headstock. I wonder if the one at the gallery is the newest shape? I don't think I've seen that shape before. I Still don't know when mine was made because I haven't taken the neck off... still, least I know it's worth 5 grand now!!

    Steely Dan

I can't make the 22nd but just wanted to say how great the band were when I saw you last - anyone thinking of going, go for it!
  16. They really do - and they sound awesome too. The fuzz has such an 'airy' sound to it, with loads of control over the mids so it sounds great in a mix.
  17. Here’s my board. After much trial and error this is what I’ve decided are my core favourites that I’ll use with my new band. Really pleased with it - the board is meant to hold 7-10 pedals but they didn’t expect 4 with one underneath!

    Pedalboard qs

Alright guys here we go. It’s nearly ready - just waiting for one more flex cable for the power supply. I’ve managed to avoid using the big wall wart for the mutron because Cioks told me it’ll work with two of their 9v battery snaps. Pretty pleased with it - I’ll just get the last couple of bits then get the cable ties out! The patch bay is useful; I’ve got the input, output from the comp and a tuner out from the Valco which is a master bypass. Also I’ve got an emergency 9v battery lined up to the barrel jack so I can power an extra pedal if I need to, off my board. I no longer need the splitter power cable that takes the IEC into the Cioks but it might be useful having a spare IEC under the board. Bonus - it fits in the gig bag (just, the height is a smidge too much but the bag has some ‘give’. When it’s 100% finished I’ll post it in the ‘show us yer pedalboard’ thread😀 Thanks for the help
  19. Cheers, it’s really been a surprise because I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I do. It covers so much sonic territory from 60s J to a really thick and (this is going to sound stupid) stingray-ish P sound. And I’d never have believed that a 30” scale bass could work in drop D but it sounds massive. Oh and the setup is spot on, the neck is flawless and it even smells nice 😂
  20. I think technically you don’t want the body to resonate and rob the string of its vibe, and potentially cancel out string vibrations. I guess there’s a happy medium where you feel connected but it doesn’t affect the sound too much.
  21. Thanks! Yes that’s the one. It’s my favourite bass ever ❤️
  22. Let me know the size from top to bottom and I'll have a look for you, or you could send a tracing perhaps! Hell, just come to York for a bass nerd out sesh.
  23. Or tune it FCGD to really spice things up!
