1.
Last time I saw a Nautilus was in Soundpad about 5 years ago, It was a white one with the pedal. Did not give it a go but had a play unplugged.
What! I'd have had that! I wonder where it went. I should have said this one in Canada is super rare because it's a graphite neck version (making a super rare bass even more rare) - did you recall the neck in the one you saw?
  2.
Lovely bass ped and hope the fella sells it to you However what are these complex electronics you speak of ?? I raise you this
I think the only way to rival that would be to install my VB99 right into the instrument. Something I've actually thought about doing! Is that the Peavey MIDI bass thingy with the display on the top horn?
  3. Thanks chaps. I don't necessarily find these setups difficult after 10 mins of learning them - as long as the bass sounds great with everything bypassed then I enjoy playing with the other settings. Seems like a good opportunity to show my family
  4. I love complex electronic setups in basses. My main bass has an inbuilt V bass system and even the standard basses have a fairly unusual setup (80s Vigier) The 'Unicorn' I've been hunting for some time is this very early example of the 'Nautilus' bass. Check out the pre in this beauty. I've read the manual several times and I'm still not sure what does what. At least you know that it'll sound fantastic bypassed! Anyway I originally came across this bass in 2008 and started talking to the seller, who didn't know much about it. He's in Canada and was reluctant to sell, and I didn't have any money either. Since then we've talked about it a bit until last year I sent him an email to ask if he still had it. I got no reply and gave up, started looking for another. There aren't any. Yesterday he sent me an email to say he rarely checks that inbox any more but by chance he did so and spotted my email, several years after we last spoke. He's going to get it out of storage and send some more pictures soon so I'll add them. I can't remember what he said about the condition so I've asked for an update; you can see the physical condition is excellent and I think he said the electronics were functioning but with a limited understanding it would be hard to say conclusively. The colour had been white originally it its faded to a more cream shade now, though some pics make it look yellow! I'll be mainly checking the neck is dead straight as it should be - the electronics I'm less worried about because with these systems they tend to work fine or not at all, and the foot switch is also included, which is really rare. More news as it happens, if you're interested - but I'll have to work out how to pay for it first - that is, if everything pans out. 5. Hi guys I made this quick video to show you how to upload pictures either to Basschat itself, or via an external site which will host the pictures for you. The second way, via an external site, is the best method - I use a site called imgbb.com which I show in the video. If you sign up as a member of the imgbb.com site you get more features and no ads. It's free and works really well, so give it a go. Any questions, please fire away. To be able to read what I'm typing you'll need to go full screen, so click the 'watch on YouTube' button near the bottom right of the clip below or use this link https://youtu.be/77uNcARiAR8 Cheers ped
  6. Check out the action on the bass!!!!
  7.
Seems we now have two functioning threads, possibly a good time to lock the original one? If I'm right, it's already been merged with the ancient Ebay Faker spotting thread - so possibly all those dead Ebay links might look a bit ambiguous to new members who don't know BC's Faker/Rick policy.
Ok all done
  8. OK here it is. It seems someone ruined the party by trying to sell something and the thread got deleted rather than the single post presumably by accident.... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/270-rickenfakers/page__st__2460
  9.
What happened to the old Rickenfaker thread?
Just trying to find out - no idea! Was it called 'The RIckenFaker Thread' or something?

    Gr55 vs v bass

I used to have a V-Bass and loved it to bits, and about two years ago I upgraded to the VB99. As Noirbass says it's a really 'routeable' system, in fact it's the hub of my office music/audio/bass system. I recently bought a GR20 and US20 splitter box to play both at once, I must admit the PCM sounds in the GR20 are great fun.
  11. Thanks guys, it's difficult to specify an exact date but this date is going on when the first members signed up on BC in it's current guise. As many have said, before BC we were BassTalk; before that we were Bassworld... and before that we were a WAP based mobile site which I started in 6th form!! I'll see if I can find the exact date for a proper/second birthday which should ultimately mean extra presents, surely? Cheers ped

  13.
Thanks Ped. I'm tempted - I've heard good things about these.
No probs. If you're ever near York come and try mine.
  14.
What do you drive it with?
It acts like an 8ohm cabinet so any amplifier will do. I use a TC BH800 for mine. You can also use a dedicated poweramp. I think the power handling is 600w.
  15. BTW I've spoken to marco about one of these before, he quoted 2300 Euros and 5 month build time.
  16. Love the Marcustico. Looks great and sounds amazing. http://youtu.be/tD_jLdIiua4
  17.
The credit for that must go to Andy as I said above but thanks for the mention. Looking forward to the next one.
Very kind of you both, and totally unexpected. Look like a great bash, glad you all had a good time and thanks for the pics.
  18. Sorry I couldn't resist editing your post!!!
  19.
You're not helping
Would you like me to run you up some loan quotes?
  20. And if you like a red one http://www.milanuncios.com/bajos/bajo-vigier-arpege-ii-de-coleccion-228782878.htm This is definitely a 100% graphite neck version.
  21.
Lovely. But it comes up the month before I get back earning Mind you, still having a Vigier on the bucket list gives me something to strive for
Probably worth a speculative email to the the buyer, you never know, if it doesn't sell (which it may well not, they aren't incredibly well known and the advert is a bit lacking) you might be able to settle a deal after it ends?
  22. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rare-Vigier-Arpege-Bass-Guitar-/262965555329?hash=item3d39f7f081:g:FtgAAOSwt0FZCgqA I think I know the previous owner - looks like a cracker. I'm pretty sure it's a series 1 bass with a wooden neck though not a carbon one. The electronics are an interesting early version of the Nautilus system, which incorporates some presets on one of the knobs to switch between 12 (IIRC) settings.
