Click on the text rather then the blob, if that makes sense. It'll take you to the first post. The blob takes you to 'first unread'

Sometimes the search index can balls things up and forget to put things there so you can either wait a bit or bump your post which will help it get back within 10 mins or so. Best way to find your posts is to click on topics under your avatar in the profile page. Cheers ped

I love slap. This guy on FB is quite cool - he responds to requests from people to do all sorts of things like 'play bass with a fidget spinner' and 'play guitar strings on a bass' so I presume this video is a response to a challenge.

Hi Byo I have a Fusion double gig bag and it's excellent - there's a review here somewhere. I also got lucky on eBay and won a Scott Dixon built Fender case. It's the same basic construction as their normal cases but the inside is a bit more basic, with simple dividers rather than the locking sort they do now. I'm in York and if you wanted to borrow it, or check out the Fusion case, let me know! Cheers ped

That... is cool.

10:00 this evening for about 10 minutes whilst some updates are installed. Things should be fine after but sometimes we notice the search index can play up for a day or two. Cheers ped

Please tell me why I should avoid getting a Rickenbacker!
Agreed also. I find it quite surprising the number of musicians who moan about CEOs of smaller volume manufacturers - I think three companies have already been mentioned in this thread. I would use the analogy of my local chip shop where, if I took issue with the way the owner cooks his fish and chips I would expect the verbal equivalent of a black eye or worse - there are musicians around who think they know more about how to run a company and its products than the CEO - easy to have a view but you haven't got the full picture when you aren't responsible for the company and its financial viability!!
I suppose if I was told stories about him I'd probably ignore them. However if I had first hand experience of his attitude I'd be put right off. I am the latter. -

Walnut is a great tone wood. I actually think Ricks are pretty flexible and I like the sound, just not the looks, ergonomics or the CEO. -
I agree. Buy a 6 string guitar if you want to play stuff lke this.
Dunno about that - you can do what you like with any instrument, but I must say I din't find it particularly musical. Everyone on YouTube seems to like it!
Be worth a try, Might be unused in someones bedroom, Could you get different modules for them?
There was a later version with different modules you could slot into the back of the bass a bit like a games cartridge. I've only seen it on a passion bass and never seen a 'spare' module. I've got the manual though that shows how to swap the modules.
It was a graphite neck Ped (I owned a couple of Vigiers back then so looked for them) from what I remember it was about £950 but had been in the shop a long time. It was too intimidating to plug in with all them controls
Maybe I should call them and see if they know who bought it!
Last time I saw a Nautilus was in Soundpad about 5 years ago, It was a white one with the pedal. Did not give it a go but had a play unplugged.
What! I'd have had that! I wonder where it went. I should have said this one in Canada is super rare because it's a graphite neck version (making a super rare bass even more rare) - did you recall the neck in the one you saw?
Lovely bass ped and hope the fella sells it to you However what are these complex electronics you speak of ?? I raise you this
I think the only way to rival that would be to install my VB99 right into the instrument. Something I've actually thought about doing! Is that the Peavey MIDI bass thingy with the display on the top horn?
-
Thanks chaps. I don't necessarily find these setups difficult after 10 mins of learning them - as long as the bass sounds great with everything bypassed then I enjoy playing with the other settings. Seems like a good opportunity to show my family

I love complex electronic setups in basses. My main bass has an inbuilt V bass system and even the standard basses have a fairly unusual setup (80s Vigier) The 'Unicorn' I've been hunting for some time is this very early example of the 'Nautilus' bass. Check out the pre in this beauty. I've read the manual several times and I'm still not sure what does what. At least you know that it'll sound fantastic bypassed! Anyway I originally came across this bass in 2008 and started talking to the seller, who didn't know much about it. He's in Canada and was reluctant to sell, and I didn't have any money either. Since then we've talked about it a bit until last year I sent him an email to ask if he still had it. I got no reply and gave up, started looking for another. There aren't any. Yesterday he sent me an email to say he rarely checks that inbox any more but by chance he did so and spotted my email, several years after we last spoke. He's going to get it out of storage and send some more pictures soon so I'll add them. I can't remember what he said about the condition so I've asked for an update; you can see the physical condition is excellent and I think he said the electronics were functioning but with a limited understanding it would be hard to say conclusively. The colour had been white originally it its faded to a more cream shade now, though some pics make it look yellow! I'll be mainly checking the neck is dead straight as it should be - the electronics I'm less worried about because with these systems they tend to work fine or not at all, and the foot switch is also included, which is really rare. More news as it happens, if you're interested - but I'll have to work out how to pay for it first - that is, if everything pans out. Hi guys I made this quick video to show you how to upload pictures either to Basschat itself, or via an external site which will host the pictures for you. The second way, via an external site, is the best method - I use a site called imgbb.com which I show in the video. If you sign up as a member of the imgbb.com site you get more features and no ads. It's free and works really well, so give it a go. Any questions, please fire away. To be able to read what I'm typing you'll need to go full screen, so click the 'watch on YouTube' button near the bottom right of the clip below or use this link https://youtu.be/77uNcARiAR8 Cheers ped
Seems we now have two functioning threads, possibly a good time to lock the original one? If I'm right, it's already been merged with the ancient Ebay Faker spotting thread - so possibly all those dead Ebay links might look a bit ambiguous to new members who don't know BC's Faker/Rick policy.
