2. I love a bit of clank and buzz, it helps make a smooth baseline feel velvety and rich. And yes it helps it stand out in the mix too.
3. Sad news, best wishes to his family and friends.
4. I knew I had things to do really, but I just didn't do them. My wife-to-be was really pleased I'd spent the whole day on synths.
5. Haha thanks yeah after a few beers and whilst getting his stomach pumped maybe
6. Thanks, almost the exact opposite of what my GF said!
7. Thanks, yeah it's an especially sweet sounding fretless I have to say. I prefer it to the passion fretless I had before it.
8. Thanks, and I like your 'vision' - maybe I'll do the video tomorrow!! <
9. I was home alone today with nowt to do, so after a couple of episodes of Gadget Man and after taking Sybil for a walk, I thought I'd try and fathom Garageband and do some simple recording. But what to record? Well, lets make a drum beat and see where that leads us. OK now grab the bass and jam along. How about another bass? And another? Keep going until it sounds a right mess! Here I used: Panned slightly left, main groove: Vigier passion with Roland GK pickup (4 bars clean, 4 on jazz bass setting, 4 on P bass, 4 on Stingray, 4 'stink synth', 1 acoustic, 1 fretless synth, 2 chameleon synth) Slightly to the right: Vigier Arpege, clean, both pickups A bit more to the right: Vigier Arpege Fretless, rear pickup. Enjoy - I warn you, it's a bit of a mess but great fun!! I got a text halfway through it which threw me and it all goes wrong at the end. ped https://soundcloud.c...-basses-covered
10. I've got one and I love it. I haven't used it live, but should think it would be good fun. Mine lives in the office and paired with a TC BH800 it provides a brilliant 'feel' which I now couldn't be without. I'm in York if you want to try it. I was next to the Eich stand at the London Bass Show and everyone who tried it fell in love with it.. a really cool piece of kit. Any Qs let me know Cheers ped

NAD: TC BH800
Cool setup you've got there. What size pleasureboard is that? I guess the vibrations don't freak the dog out?!
It's the medium sized one. I thought it would scare her but because it's technically isolated it doesn't actually pass vibration to the floor at all, so nothing rattles in the office. Sybil actually loves sitting on it when it's off for some reason. When I play a low B the room fills with hair
12. Depending on the size, I often use the box it came in. And it's free!
13. I bought a new amp a few days ago to replace a stereo power amp I was using. All it does at home is drive my TecAmp Pleasure Board (the thing my chair is on) and it does this admirably. The problem with the power amp I was using was that I couldn't bridge it and there was no crossover, and one stereo side into an 8ohm load wasn't powerful enough, although it was pretty decent. I have used the same power amp (1u, 400w a side, no name on it anywhere!) for years, and the best rig I had with it was for each side to power an SWR 1x15 and the other a matching 4x8. Tremendous. So the TC is fantastic in this application because I can take a signal from the secondary output on my VB99 to it and get the TC input gain right, and there it stays even if I adjust the VB99 volume for my headphones. I can use the (excellent) tone print function to add compression to the signal which gives the 'bass board' a more even and dare I say more boneshaking response. The built in tuner is really handy too as using the VB99 tuner means leaning across to press a button - it's more accurate for sure but this is useful to have 'on the fly' especially with the fretless. It's also tiny and light so it fits perfectly under my monitor. So in a weird way I can't comment on the sound especially as the bass board doesn't produce anything like an even response, but it has plenty of power on tap and I'm sure it'll get 'cabbed' soon enough. The only thing I wish it had is a power switch on the front. Cheers ped
14. Our drummer had good timing (when he wasn't playing!) - the minute we'd loaded everything up he'd arrive with his drums. I should thank him though because he's the reason I went to a full Mesa/Boogie valve setup.
15.
But, when it all comes together t can be a very rewarding and enjoyable experience - when you've set up and the sound check goes well, the landlord is welcoming, friendly and enthusiastic about having your band on, the venue meets expectations and there is a good crowd in that are up for it and you're carrying drum hardware across a car park whilst the sun is shining. The above does happen sometimes and when it does, it's fantastic.
Oh, definitely Even better if the drummer carries his own blasted hardware!
16. Sounds good to me Peter. I left the whole giggling scene behind years ago and now I play along with things in my own little world - no setting up, no annoying landlords, no disappointing venues or carrying drum hardware across a car park in the rain. Just 100% escapism.

Vigier Porn!

Yeah looks lovely with the natural body
18. Just in case anyone is worried about shipping, I recently bought a bass from Spain and it came in three days via MRW
19. I think I'd like this but I have a question about bridged mode. Does one have to use the binding posts for that? If so how does one go about that as opposed to a normal speakon lead? I'd only want to power one cab with it in bridged mode and would prefer to use a jack or speakon from the poweramp... or am I reading it wrong? Cheers ped
