1. I don't think so. There will be an option soon though on the new site. We don't send mass emails often, last one was in 2013. Sorry if it caused annoyance.
  2. Good question. I always used Photobucket as well which was always OK with a few choice filters added to my ad blocker, but now it's just got ridiculous. There are so many things wrong with it I don't know where to begin. I also use Flickr but use that more as hosting for my 'proper' pictures. Throwaway pics I tend to use something else, but it's still nice to use a device that keeps your pics on record should you need them again. I've tried Postimage which seems like Photobucket but without the ads - the only problem is that when you use the line of code to show a pic it inserts an advert there, unless you snip it out. All in all I think there's room for a proper hosting service, even better if it was built into an OS. [Image] tagging pictures on iCloud for example would be really useful.
  3. That's a shame, I'm on my honeymoon. Do people think Tina would prefer this to Iceland?

    Hello

Morning and welcome! Should you be working
  10. I prefer active. Less noise, more flexible - funny when people say there's too many knobs and it's confusing... if you can work a toaster you can learn the controls on a bass guitar

  12. That's great, please pass on my thanks. Some new sites for me to check out there, too.
  13. I've had to file down bridge saddles on many basses from lots of top manufacturers. I like my action super low and often the bridge just won't go down far enough. I tend to file it down below what I require so I can use the grub screws to set it exactly and leave me with some adjustment in both directions. I'm used to neck though basses where the fretboard is only marginally higher than the body of the bass so only very low set bridges will do the job. My fave is the Schaller 3D.
  14. Woah the Jamhub looks amazing. Exactly what I needed at my old house... great design.
  15. Thanks for the pictures. Love them all..
  16. With my new toy (Tecamp Pleasure Board) and headphones, I can achieve the perfect mix in my headphones and feel like I'm standing in front of (or more specifically 'on') a huge bass rig. Nobody else can hear it unless they're in the same room in which case, after playing with my headphones off, it sounds like a muffled boxy speaker at very low volume. I don't need to do this because of noise levels as my neighbour is the other side and basically deaf, but I much prefer the feel and control I have using this setup, and like Mingsta says above, I enjoy playing more when I know I'm not disturbing anyone. Also with an amplifier everything in my office rattles at different frequencies which drives me dotty.
  17. I have a 5 minute slot in the lavatory where I accept handshakes from fans. That way I'm right next to a basin and airblade. I ask them to wash first.
  18.
Bwahahahahahahaha!!! Time to move to flats, Chris.
But I can't stand the tension!
  19. I'd be interested to try them. Elixir strings were a revelation for me and I can make a set last nearly a year. They suit me down to the ground. I was sure that Gore who make the coating had patented the process of coating the string once it has been wound so other competitors had to coat theirs then wrap the string. Maybe that's not true as these sound like a similar process. I have also tried coated strings by Roto, D'addario and Warwick and none were a patch on the Elixirs, so I presumed it was due to the patented process.
  20.
That's pretty obvious. Blue
Great, ok. So you also accept that basses sound different? And that those differences can be interpreted as 'good'?
  21.
I will never understand why some of you guys think it's a particular bass that sounds good

There are certain places or songs where the sound of my Hofner is a perfect match.
Ok! im glad you don't understand you either!
  22.
My German made Hofner Club bass sounds a lot different than my Fender MIJ P basses.
Question - do you like the sound of the actual instruments, if you played the exact same pattern on each?
  23.
My German made Hofner Club bass sounds a lot different than my Fender MIJ P basses.
Hallelujah!
  24.
How I sound is a result of how much I practice and learn and ultimately own as a part of my playing skill set. Those with a high level of ability are going to sound great on a Ric and they will sound great on a Jazz as well. If you lack ability no bass is going to make you sound good. Take the marginal player that buys a Music Man bass, he's still going to sound marginal. Now, I will say that buying that Music Man bass might be the catalyst that encourages that player to invest more time and structured study into the craft. Ultimately making him a better player and obviously sounding better. Blue
The basses themselves sound different. Am I wrong?

    Case porn
How much does it weigh? I like that idea a lot. For the combination number, these locks normally have a tab on the inside that you pull out (or in) set the number to your chosen one then reset the tab to make your new number effective.
I see ok thanks, I'll have a look at it a bit more closely. The case is very light actually, all aluminium. Probably weighs about the same as an instrument.
