Nice cases

Do you lightweight gear people find that once you set up after walking in with a cab in each hand and an amp in your pocket the rest of the band let you chill out whilst they unload their non-heavyweight gear? I somehow always ended up getting lumped with the drum hardware which was really heavy and so awkward to carry!! I agree there are advantages of course but that day (one particular hot summer's day where I must have been in a sh*tty mood) I couldn't wait to get my own back with the Mesa 1516BE

Every time I've ever had a lightweight rig I've ended up doing many more trips to the van and back carrying drums and hardware so a heavy rig is a must for me

I just found the Schallers a bit noisy; when recording or playing through headphones they would clatter around and creak as the bass moved. The Marvel locks are nice and tight. There's no movement other than rotation around the strap pin.

Also a sort of downsize. I rarely play loud in the house as I prefer to use headphones and my Vbass unit but I recently got this great little ABM combo for a bit of 'rumble'. It also doubles as a sub for my office stereo! Got an absolute bargain! Nice thanks for that. Used to just use mine flat into the 1516 can but remember playing with the input gain etc. Eventually found a great tone but the full range cab definitely helped. This write up would have been useful. I don't think I ever tried using a Y lead; probably should have done!

[/quote] Not sure of the exact pathway but following the instructions with the kit I ended up with essentially two independent outputs - standard jack functions as normal in active/passive and 13 pin the same, with the GK bypassed it functions the same as the 1/4" out in active and passive. I can take some pictures if it'll help but the battery isn't drained if the active switch is on and nothing is plugged in.

Indeed - that's what I have, the 13 pin and normal 1/4" jack next to each other. The sound of the clean signal isn't affected at all. One thing to consider is what else you choose to mount from the kit - you can have as little as the pickup and the output, or you can also mount up and down switches, an LED, and a volume/assignable control. I chose to do just the volume/assignable pot but later added the up/down switches too.

I'll never sell my Vigier. I've had it for 10 years now, it's been my main - and mostly only - bass for the majority of the time I've been working on Basschat/Basstalk/Bassworld and it's been adjusted, modified and worked on by lots of BCers throughout the years. It's not only a truly fantastic instrument but a real tangible piece of the BC story, to me.
