Great site, this - I bought some and they arrived within two days!
Hello, I'm bringing this thread back to life. I've contacted banzaimusic too and they told me that although thay have the "sadowsky style" knobs they don't have the stacked one (for the VTC) wich I need. I need to replace them on my UV Metro 5 string . In the meantime do some new supplier show up ? or can you help me find out, in Europe, where to buy the stacked on to fit on my sadowsky? Thank you
I think I have one you can have - I'll upload a pic. I recently replaced a stacked one for two singles.
Try Fretwraps. Very, very easy to adjust the amount of mute and just push it over the nut when you don't need it. Leaves plenty of room to fret at the first.
That wouldn't mute anything you fret though would it? I had a bassmute and it was brilliant. Can't use one now as no room between my bridge and pickup.
This is common practice and is done in order to boost sales. Put Ozzy Osbourne next to his bass player on a magazine cover and it's likely that some Ozzy fans will buy the magazine, regardless of their interest (or lack of) in bass.
This. Dave is also a really good friend of the forum. Cool mag, cool guy, cool bass, cool gig.

NDMD: New Drum Machine Day! Elektron Analog Rytm
ped replied to tedmanzie's topic in Other Instruments
Thanks - yeah I have the drummer package in Garageband which is pretty flexible and fun. Where possible I like to avoid using the computer when I want a quick jam and prefer using hardware. It would just be for practice... I checked out that little Korg which looks great but a bit synthetic sounding. What didn't you like about the SR16? My only concern is how easily you can programme your own loops in, as it doesn't have that 'sequencer' look like the 808 etc.. -
NDMD: New Drum Machine Day! Elektron Analog Rytm
ped replied to tedmanzie's topic in Other Instruments
Cool - I was looking at drum machines the other day but I want one which sounds like a real drum kit rather than electronic funkyness. Not sure what to look for, Alesis SR16/18 crop up a lot but what else? The Elektron looks great. Will you use it for practicing along to or mainly for recording/playing as an instrument in it's own right? -
Not impressed with the dB rating of my new bins

The roadies come and re-arrange mine every other Tuesday -
They look great - definitely interested to hear anyone's experiences. http://www.laurus.it/en/

New caretaker wanted for Aria SB website / fan pages
ped replied to Bassclef's topic in General Discussion
Hi Ped, and thank you to everyone who has replied on here. I am interested in your suggestion of hosting it on BC. Is there anything similar on here already? How would you see it working? Do you have in mind someone with editorial control, I mean rather than just threads where anyone can chip in? A bass player from the USA has been in touch, he sounds very keen and well qualified, and I was just about to give him the nod when I saw this.
Hi, we'd host it in our server but it wouldn't appear as a BC site as such. If you can find someone to maintain and continue to add to the site, we'll sort the rest. Sounds like someone had already offered to do both but let us know if we can help. Cheers ped -

Hi guys If you haven't sorted something already, we'd be happy to do this for you via the BC server and rescue it for you. I'm just talking to the others about the details so I'll give you a point of contact in due course. Cheers ped -
On ipad select the full version of the site at the bottom (you'll be currently browsing using the mobile interface which is somewhat slimmed down) Then on the full site you will see your name in the top right corner and the dropdown menu with the options. Or yes try on a laptop Cheers

Yep looks nice and tactile. How have you decided on pickup placement, in terms of actual distance from the bridge?

Loving this thread, really interesting work. Can't wait to see it finished!

Have we all become wimps or is it a sign of an ageing population
ped replied to Kex's topic in Amps and Cabs
Do you lightweight gear people find that once you set up after walking in with a cab in each hand and an amp in your pocket the rest of the band let you chill out whilst they unload their non-heavyweight gear? I somehow always ended up getting lumped with the drum hardware which was really heavy and so awkward to carry!! I agree there are advantages of course but that day (one particular hot summer's day where I must have been in a sh*tty mood) I couldn't wait to get my own back with the Mesa 1516BE -
I really do not understand why people don't just use washers as straplocks. Loads less fiddly and it will never slip. Plus you look more rock n' roll.
I don't like having a strap on my bass all the time

Every time I've ever had a lightweight rig I've ended up doing many more trips to the van and back carrying drums and hardware so a heavy rig is a must for me -
OK Oxford and the 'shire peeps, we don't gig very often but are playing this Sat (14th May) at The Cellar in Oxford, we're on at 9.45. The promoter says: Chasing Daylight headline The Cellar with their uncompromising tongue in cheek music .... if you like the Block Heads and such you'll love these guys ...supported by some of oxfords best this will be a night of party and lots of smiles ...see ya there X Sounds about right......so come along if you're up for it, I'm the one with the seriously road worn Precision and the rig in my avatar - say hi! '67 Hammond/Leslie, '59 strat, and some say decent original music thown into the bargain.......... LD
When I was young I got wasted on Apple Sour shots in the Cellar and was sick in the bus home. I've hated the taste of artificial apple flavour ever since! Enjoy the gig!!

I just found the Schallers a bit noisy; when recording or playing through headphones they would clatter around and creak as the bass moved. The Marvel locks are nice and tight. There's no movement other than rotation around the strap pin.

Also a sort of downsize. I rarely play loud in the house as I prefer to use headphones and my Vbass unit but I recently got this great little ABM combo for a bit of 'rumble'. It also doubles as a sub for my office stereo! Got an absolute bargain! Nice thanks for that. Used to just use mine flat into the 1516 can but remember playing with the input gain etc. Eventually found a great tone but the full range cab definitely helped. This write up would have been useful. I don't think I ever tried using a Y lead; probably should have done!

Also one of Chad's best drummy bits. ALsong with the intro to 'Walkabout' on One Hot Minute

I've tried a few and the best are Marvel locks. Really neat and very secure, whilst being nice and small with no rattle once attached. https://m.thomann.de/gb/marvel_security_strap_lock_system_gd.htm Wouldn't mind trying these next http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Loxx_Locks.html
There used to be the full length documentary on there; an excellent and interesting watch, as long as you like RHCP!
