One day I want one of these but the series II model with full carbon neck, to match my bass https://www.zikinf.com/annonces/dispannonce.php?annonce=1247281 Kind of feel I should work my way up to one though
That strikes me as a bit of a gamble. You'd probably be better off with one you could try before parting with any dosh.
Indeed, however buying a Vigier will definitely be a buy before I try job. Think I will go and try some 'strats' in town before going any further.
Quality was very hit & miss in the early 80s. How much are you paying for it? Chances are you could get a much better Strat for less money. I'm not sure but I think that particular model Strat might one of the Special versions, like the Precision Special that was released in 1980/81 with the active circuit. Just had another search around online & the body & hardware looks very much like the model that was released in 1980 as "The Strat". These had matching painted headstocks though so there is a chance that the neck is from a different guitar.
Sorry missed this. It'll work out about £700 I think.
Any reason why you're looking at this particular guitar Ped?
Well ideally I'd like a Vigier Passion guitar, carbon neck thru, but as I'm not very good on the guitar (yet, lol) I wondered if I had better start with something more conventional. And I liked the idea of the super strat having the extra pickup switch options and hotter pickups. Quite fond of the colour and general look of this one too. But yes open to other thoughts as I'm looking with my eyes rather than my brain!
That bridge and gold hardware were used on "The Strat" in the early 80s but it only came with a painted, slightly odd-shaped headstock. http://www.guitarspl...au/fender-strat The neck looks more like a 57 reissue neck with the early logo, single string guide, nickel/chrome vintage tuners (I would expect the tuners to be gold to match the rest of the hardware) and body-end truss rod adjustment. Might be a bitsa? Andy
Thanks Andy you posted as I was typing!
Might be one of these https://en.wikipedia.../wiki/The_STRAT More info and helpful pics http://www.guitar-li...-models-1980-83 I have x3 late 80s early 90s USA standards (Strats / Tele) and they are all very good in terms of fit and finish, one is an outstanding guitar to play, one is good and the other is just ok (somehow it does not inspire me).
Interesting, thanks. It does appear similar but the headstock isn't matching and it doesn't say 'Strat' on it. Perhaps it was one of the parts bin ones...

    Strat info

Hi guys I'm no Fender expert by any measure so wondered if someone more knowledgeable could give me some info on this Strat. Looks like it has a different bridge, possibly top loading. I'm thinking about buying it so what should I be asking the seller, anything in particular to check? He's French so keep it simple. I'm not after anything special, just rather like the look of this one but I hear QC was iffy in the 80s? Guessing this is an American strat? Cheers ped
  8.
Christopher, dear, low tension strings are not cool. Use your eyes!
Low tension, like me! And my mum says I'm cool
  9. Hi, no probs I have made a thread about it in the effects forum, and I plan on posting some sound clips soon!
  10. I like a paddle shaped headstock, pickups with a ramp, preferably active electronics and I like gadgets too so something innovative excites me. Although I don't really like the look of fanned frets. Sonically I like a well defined clear sound with a bit of top end clank and a crisp slap sound. Low tension strings.
  11. Bump for a cool bit of kit
  12. Lovely thing and what a cool colour. Good luck
  13. I really like this thread

  15. Hi guys Up for grabs is this Vbass unit by Roland. I've used it for the past 5 years at least, but only in studio/home environment. It's a fantastic unit that gives you access to thousands of options for synths and modelled basses. Using this I have made several 'go to' patches for my main bass to make it sound exactly like a P, Jazz, MM or Smith bass. It takes a fair bit of programming and playing with, but if you're like me, you'll love it and enjoy the process. Once set, it's a fire and forget system which sounds superb. I'm only selling because I have bought the next version, the VB99. It comes with -Power supply -GK3B pickup and clamp (though I recommend having the kit installed in your bass if you like it!) -13 pin GK cable -Gator padded pedalboard bag You can download the .pdf manual here http://www.roland.co...bass/downloads/ ...And listen to some samples here http://www.roland.co...roducts/v-bass/ Any questions please ask away Cheers ped

If you do drop in you'll be most welcome John
I'd like to vouch for John's work!! Exceptional stuff!! A

    VB99

I think the GR55 is the only GK system still in production which is a shame, maybe wait a bit and see if they do a VB100! I wonder... I don't use MIDI but might have a play with it now I've worked out the USB stuff. Could be fun but latency might put me off.

Played around with it this evening and worked it out! Really easy. I can have the VB99 going into the laptop and use Garageband plus play along with music from iTunes or Youtube jam tracks.. great!!
I have one, although not tried recording with it. Used USB for laptop controller software - brilliant! :-)
Hi, good to know. However I don't think Roland have released support for OSX El Capitan yet or Windows 10?

    VB99

Hi guys After using the original Vbass for a number of years I have recently upgraded to the VB99. I've copied across my 'clean' sounds and really enjoying the synths; they're much more 'musical' than the old unit and really usable. Being able to use two together is just great.. I wondered if anyone else here uses one as I have a couple of questions regarding the USB end of things specifically recording with the unit. I'll try and upload some samples ASAP! Cheers ped
  23. Nah she's the one delivering it, she'll do anything for a bag of chocolate drops
