1. I went to TC a couple of years ago and I found them all very attractive
2. This stuff is great http://www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Double-Automotive-Number-Plates/dp/B009IQCET2 I bought a little bubble pack of 5/6 strips which I cut down to size from a camping store. Very tough and leaves no residue, and it doesn't make the ashtray bounce around like foam tape.
3. Yep - no pound sign and no decimal places. Numbers only
4. Yeah it's an issue on iOS 9 and Chrome... seem OK on Safari.
5. I do it all by feel but I like a straight neck with very little relief. I don't have a truss rod so luckily it's right for me but being graphite it hasn't moved since 1988. I like the action as low as possible so it clanks slightly when I dig in. 6.
Oooooo!!!! Look what I found on Facebook!
I told them I wasn't able to play this year!! Better tell them
7. I think it was the excitement of this that gave Dood a nosebleed And here I am meeting Patrice Vigier, who was just a charming bloke although he looks a bit star struck here obviously
8.
I've asked them if they do (or are planning to do...) a high 'C' for fretless 6-string (30 gauge or the like..?), but haven't had a reply yet. If I can get a whole set I'll buy 'em, as they seem good for what I need from a bass, judging from the feedback so far here. I'll be back if I get a reply...
They do a medium gauge C (0.032) in Nickel, part no. 15332
9. Am I right in thinking the most recent Nightwatchman album is the one with a 'full band'? Or have I got that completely wrong.. (Which one's best for metal)
10.
For me it's definitely my Tom Marceau bass. I can have all the 3 "main" bass sounds (pbass, jbass, MM) while retaining its character. I've rarely played a bass that could fit so much voicing while retaining its own identity. (And it's also dead confortable and the Low B is surprisingly good for a 31" bass!)
That looks great! I'm not normally a fan of single cuts but it just looks so balanced and I bet it feels great.
11. Lovely looking bass, and great sound clip. Really dig your playing. Bass has a lovely sound to it... and it looks so unusual.
12. Just a heads up - BC haven't 'endorsed' this promotion in any way - although we'll let it stay here we weren't asked about it beforehand so as others have said, be careful!
13. Although I think my Vigier bass is very flexible and suitable for most things, it's since I installed the Vbass pickup that I can truly call it a 'Swiss Army Knife' as it now does a perfect MM, Jazz and P bass impression too (those of you at the SEBB a few years ago would have heard it) I agree that a lot of the sound is in the playing but you simply can't create a MM sound with a P bass and vice versa, so it's nice to have them on tap. ped
14.
I found that using nickel strings on my Flea really helps it. It softens up the sound somewhat. You still get that searing clarity but with a rounder edge. SS strings really enhance the treble/top end, which this bass has no small amount of naturally anyway!!
Elixir Nickels, for this exact reason
15.
Well,I tried the method................nada! I did notice that it says I have used 31.52MB of my 30MB upload quota!
Hi there In that case you can clear some room. Go to your name in the top right, then click 'my settings' then 'manage attachments' Will check tomorrow and make sure you've got it sorted! Cheers
16. Here you go! http://basschat.co.uk/topic/265885-ampeg-svt-head-and-mesa-410-cab-both-flightcased-l350-each/ And probs let me know Cheers
17. I play in D all the time and use light strings. I love the lower tension and the clank you can get from digging in. I thought about getting a D tuner to drop the D to a B and even thought about putting one on the A string too. Floppiness aside, would a standard D tuner drop a D to a B? Or an A to an E?
18. Time for a 'Show us yer' graphite' thread? Edit: Graphite basses, not any other graphite you might own, like pencils
19. There's a consistency and a sort of compressed clarity that I love about graphite necks. Personally I prefer them, especially their stability. If you're making a bolt on it would be interesting to try both. I had both on a Stingray and the graphite one stayed on. My main bass has a graphite neck and no truss rod so it's lucky it suits me as it hasn't, and can't be adjusted!
20.
I moved from DR to Elixir and thought they were great, problem is that they don't fit Warwick bridges particularly well! Whilst I was willing to shoehorn one onto my old Streamer, there's no way I was gunna do it to the SS1 or the Infinity... funnily enough, I'm back on DR now!
Interesting - is that due to the bridge break angle? How do the DRs differ, are they those exposed core types?
21. Personally I'd never have a custom made for me.
22. Any takers for the last two sets?
23. Hi guys Recently Elixir Strings ran a competition for some BC members to try their strings. This thread is for the feedback from the tests conducted. Winners have been asked to place feedback here but if you are reading this and didn't enter the comp - or did and didn't win, and you use Elixir strings, I'm sure any extra feedback would be interesting too. Cheers ped P.s Feedback will start to arrive in a week or so as the strings are being sent out at the moment
24. I'm getting one soon from TC to review
