Just completed a subscription payment via my phone, without beinga member to paypal, while posting a new thread, after paying I had to re-trype my whole for sale thread again, then the subscription message came up again. I used a different email though, "]
Hi, Yes you should always make sure you're logged in when paying, and probably best not to do it via a mobile for the time being. Want a refund? PM me if so, then try the post again from a computer. Cheers
Dumb question alert: Is there a clear "For Dummies" procedure for placing ads & paying subscription fee's I have an ad to place but are unsure if i pay first then place my add....how does it work I'm a little confuddled
Just go to post as normal and all will become clear
It worked for me first time? - http://basschat.co.u...ost__p__2010091
It's working for everyone as far as I know, so I'd like to hear what you did exactly Lozz as it may help us identify something - PM me!

Using Basschat on phone is awesome, well done

Hi guys Cheers for the comments. A custom mobile theme is on our wish list. It'll be a big job so were glad the current one is ok for now. There are definitely a few things missing though so we've started talking about designing our own. I think we still have a few things to fix here first though -
Think this may have happened yesterday as well? I paid my £20, and the one ad I managed to post isn`t even there, and the next one I`ve tried to post, even though I`ve placed values in the title bar and price/trade value box, it keeps saying "Insert a price".
Hi mate That'll be something different - please PM me the details and I'll look into it. Does it work now? Everything is working this end so I'll try and get to the bottom of it for you. Cheers
I`ve paid my £20, but posted an item for sale yesterday, and although it was shown on the front page, not only could I then not get into it, it doesn`t appear on the for sale listings either. Bah.
Hm that's strange, can you PM me more details and I'll check it out

Just bumping this up for the attention of those trying to keep awake until 5pm Thanks again for the understanding and keep checking the FB page plugin for news about our return - I expect we'l be down from about 7am until about 4pm Cheers ped

Hm possibly. Still, thanks for letting me know, the more I can learn about the forum behavior the better we can adjust and fine tune it. Cheers ped
Same just happened again, top item in amps, "feeler for sale or trade" started by fettsman.
OK I can see the thread - so what happens if you click the notification, it says 'no permission'? Does it work if you manually visit the forum and click the thread?
-
It's not just gear - we're everything whores mate, we're subscribed up for all notifications about everything! The official BC term for this is Whoreclown.
I don't think my inbox could handle it (and that's NOT a euphemism)
-
OK I think I know what you're saying. What you're seeing is a relic link to a post that was abandoned. We're working on getting these to disappear along with the threads but not quite there yet. Currently the thread itself is deleted though hence the 'no permission' notice - the thread is gone. Thanks for the heads up, this will be addressed tomorrow Cheers
-
I asked iCastle about this very point and apparently it's a bug - an ad that is posted but not paid for ends up in limbo and still activates a notification before it's automatically deleted.
Ah I see, if you subscribe to the sales forum that might happen... it's on our list of fixes for tomorrow. I didn't realise people subscribed for notifications every time a thread is posted.. You gear whores, you Can you confirm that you can access the marketplace forums, though, Karlfer? Cheers
I'm a bit lost here, because I'm dim. It appears I can't look at all of the classifieds. That is presumably because I haven't paid a subscription as yet, only noticing this today. So, if I was to advertise a bass for sale and pay my £7, does that mean non-subscribers won't see my ad? The same question applies if I pay my £20 subscription, can none subscribers see my ad? Like I said, I am dim and will almost certainly have missed the blindingly obvious.
Everyone should be able to see the classifieds and post replies to threads as normal... is this not the case for your profile?
-
Yes. But a lot of people came for the marketplace and stayed for everything else (the epic thread discussing all these changes was littered with people saying that they'd signed up to sell something and stuck around). I'm not sure that simply dismissing the potential loss of new members as "not our problem" is the wisest move.
Talkbass had the same discussions when they introduced their payment scheme, albeit with no 'one off' or 'free' options. It's worked very well, and seems to be working here, too. We're keeping an eye on it, and can change the prices/options in the future if we need to. We may find, as TB did, that it actually enhances the community and makes the site safer and a better selling environment. Cheers ped

Morning BCers We'll be down tomorrow morning until probably about 3/4pm whilst we sort out some bugs and fixes on the forum. This should be one of the last downtimes associated with the current development for a short while. We plan on installing WorldPay gateway for payment plus sort out a few niggles we've found behind the scenes. On top of that we're going to organise fixes for things like the email notifications in due course. Please spread the word and get email/phone details if you're currently in the middle of a trade/sale with a forum member. Cheers and thanks for your understanding again ped
I'll leave starting forums to others more knowledgeable. Im having to access the web via my mobile at the moment and this site doesnt work so well, eg. posting images, creating posts. Lots of glitches for me using an Android phone. Are there web browsers that work more smoothly than others for accessing the forum?
Hi, I don't think lefties need their own forum, but feel free to start a 'lefties club' thread in the spirit of the old one if you like. Mobile site should work well for general browsing and posting. Uploading pics etc are all best from a desktop for the time being.
I look forward to visiting a new forum discussion thread for lefties soon.
Start one whenever you like, it's your forum
