@Bert... Please take the tablets; they're for your own good. You shouldn't go about waving that, either. You'll catch cold. Now get back into bed and wait for the nurse's visit. Yes, we'll take you for a walk around the park later, if you'll keep your pyjamas on this time...

one that's a great price The sharp edge being the edge radius on the body - fenders tend to have a reasonably large one, sadowskys have the more 'modern' looking sharper on. This is a bass I once had with sharper edges - just prefer a little less - but thats just me and not a biggie!
Ah I see! I once had a slab body Jazz and it hurt my forearm as the whole body was like that. Sounded nice though.
Looks good, even though I'm not an EMG Expander enthusiast. My first thoughts are...does a mahogany body add much weight..is there any sonic benefit over alder/poplar....love the truss rod adjuster.
It's not the lightest Jazz I've tried... I'll try and weigh it for you, unless Jeff knows the weight?
We must hang out at the same sites... The swinging scene is not what it once was.
It's too close to Jazz

Anyone else have some Vigier porn to excite us all
-
What do you mean by 'sharp body edge' - it might just be my pics but the body is cut away under the arm like a normal Jazz body. retain price is in the blog post - about £560 which is a steal. However I don't know if Jeff has found a UK importer yet so give him a shout for more info.
Ah, OK then, but it won't be funny. It was a failed attempt to say the value will plummet to the degree that it goes underground. The machines used to dig huge holes in the planet are not called 'rockets', but are often called 'moles', Dunno the technical term. best, bert
Ohhhh I see now. I guess I'm just not following you due to the fact that the books will blatantly be massively valuable if I sign them. You know it's true. Rocket moles.
My take: only people with a perfect understanding of English can't understand a word of it. So it surely isn't my responsibility. I think I better not even try to explain. I'll just dig an even bigger hole for myself. best, bert
Give it a try, you might win a book!!

See, it's working!! Yes, that slot is going to be filled soon by an actual Bass Guitar related company but the advertising manager is pissing around in Paris at the moment, or taking back handers from DFS.

Blog post here http://blog.basschat.co.uk/buscanti-newport-jazz-bass/ So, what do you think of the bass? ped
Fine, but technically those machines are not called "rockets" but "moles". Before anyone asks, they're very inefficient in rock. best, bert
I can' be the only one who didn't understand a word of this

I can sign them... value will rocket

See blog post here http://blog.basschat.co.uk/bass-book-giveaway/ So let's see what you have to offer... good luck!
Fascinating (and unexpectedly revealing) discussion guys. Any news on timescale for the guitar site?
Nothing yet I'm afraid, our web developer has been slowed down by a family illness so it's going to take a while. We own the URL and that's about it so far. The plan is to sort the software here, get it perfect, then essentially copy+paste it over. We have a few bits to finish here first which I hope we'll have done by mid September.
Ouch..!
Yeah pretty harsh, you might like to rephrase that, Redstriper.
...and Ped said he'd send me one a size smaller, and he never did... grumble grumble grumble
Whoops, please PM me your order (address, colour, design, size) and it'll be sent.
You mean like going 100's of miles out of your way to deliver basses and amps to other members, helping recover good when someone has been scammed, giving advice, helping organise event and donating? That kind of thing?
That's the kind of thing that makes the site unique and awesome, yes. It's clearly impossible to please everyone when choosing moderators and Kiwi has his reasons for the people he chose, but he can't please everyone. It really isn't that much fun being a mod anyway. Perhaps those who feel they have been overlooked might like to put themselves forward for next time or extra jobs? I really don't think kiwi expected anyone to feel overlooked. That said its a reflection of how great the community is that it turns out do many would like to volunteer. Something for us to consider next time, anyway. Can we talk about something else now? I think I've explained all I can in Kiwi's absence.
Mods come and go, but Basschat is nothing without it's members.
+1 to that!
-
Sorry if that sounded aggressive. Not my intention. Anyway yes it is a lovely day, I'm going to take Nellie to Cafe Rouge for a coffee
-
That said, there isn't any other way to do it. It's me, kiwi and the current mods/admins who have to rely on/work with the mods so we choose them. You don't apply for a job then let everyone who works there vote. There is no better way to do it, I'm afraid. And recruiting mods we like to work with makes the site better for everyone because we can work better when things DO happen. Perhaps you can suggest a better way?
I would have done, only it was the Mod who created the problem
Also goes to prove the point that mods aren't superhuman, they are just BC members like everyone else but will probably a bit less of a social life. We aren't beyond reproach. I'm pretty sure I told Wayne to F%&K off once, for example. ....I'm still waiting...
-
I would have done, only it was the Mod who created the problem, so it seemed like a pointless exercise. Plus I was using current and valid evidence to respond to Johnstons statement made on this thread.
Doesn't make any difference. Use the system, it works. ped
-
Well, how's this for starters, Johnston?..
If you have a problem with another thread please hit the 'report to a moderator' button and it will be dealt with.
It's just my opinion and how I feel. I don't know if there is some sort of equation that means if I feel a certain way, others will feel the same too, but perhaps not be so vocal. I've not got any thoughts on how a voting system would work. As Kiwi says, a short-list is drawn up, and those with an interest could vote on that. I have not got a problem with the Mods that have been installed, just the method. With a vote, you may not get your way, but at least you get your say. But, I'm saying it anyway, but that's just me! Well, I'm off outside to enjoy some of this lovely evening
But then some would feel the same about the short list. It's very difficult but I think the main thing is that we see the mods as doing us a favour in many ways. It's actually quite difficult to approach people to ask, so it's never been seen by us as a privilege we bestow on anyone. A lot of the time every single member on here is a moderator anyway as they steer conversations in the right way and keep the vibe here so nice. The only thing the 'official' moderators have over that is some 'report this post to a moderator' reports to help us with and other thankless tasks of that type. It's really nice however to hear that people want to volunteer to help. To be honest I wasn't expecting anyone to feel jealous or anything. Not saying that's how you feel exactly but just rambling now. Every member here is crucial to the site, being a mod doesn't change anything
