1. Thanks chaps. I'm talking to Ben about these little glitches and we'll get there. Steve is busy looking for a new staff member who can offer dedicated 24/7 support. It's all getting rather demanding, which is a good thing and very exciting. Its Important that we work out the small problems. Cheers
2. Aha! Perfect! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Custom-SLR-C-Loop-Camera-Silver/dp/B004V71BJM/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322955397&sr=8-1-fkmr0
3. Oh yeah, whoops! Bought one of these in the end but think I'll still want a long strap... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180747125456?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
4. I've found a few wrist straps that are built into a tripod screw bush which would be ok.
5. On my old camera I have no strap lugs so I use a little rig I made up using a strap and a washer (pics below). It screws into the tripod hole. It's quite secure but I thought of something which would work better. Anyone know where I can get hold of a bracket a bit like this: I could then bend the arms a little to allow a strap to be attached to the 'slots'. I'm sure I've seen something like this somewhere but can't think where! Cheers ped
6. No probs... I'll ask Ben if there's something we can do - are you looking for anything in particular?
7. Hi Andy The emails (by which I assume you mean PMs?) Are arranged like conversations, so I don't think you can filter them as 'inbox' or 'outbox' ped

9.
Leaving aside that it's always nice to get someone's name right, when you're addressing them directly; my question to you would be, Why? Just what, exactly, did I say in my first post that was so offensive, so critical, or so insulting? Simply stated, I just said that a particular "Precision" bass design seemed pointless. In your opinion, that constitutes unfair comment? I don’t know which I find more laughable, that bass, or your statement.
Oh I'm sorry I did a typo. My bad. Forgive me. I'm just pointing out that you could have put your opinion across with a little more thought. At least I thought you could. I was actually referring to your second post, anyway. Zero original thought is probably stretching it a bit (I didn't see the pic but I think the fanned fret thing is pretty original) Laugh away.
10.
That's why I have removed it. Some of you guys just don't know how to criticize, and always ready to take things too far. In response I would say that is an ignorant reply unless you've tried one you shouldn't diss them like that.
Don't take it down because some people have a brain to mouth problem. Variety is the spice of like and if you like it, show it. noel27k, think before you post? Seriously, just think about what you say.

Vigier Porn!

Lovely bass. I need to try a series 4 at some point. The pre-amp is meant to be pretty sweet.

Vigier Porn!

Here's mine, think I put it in the other vigier thread too.. Had this for a long time now and love it to bits. When it was originally bought it was just a body with neck (as its a carbon neck thru). Marleaux pickups have been installed along with their excellent 3 band pre. At the time I also had jazz basses, an alembic and so forth. The vigier was always #1 though because it just feels so supple; the action is very very low giving a lovely grind and burp when I dig in. There is also next to zero relief in the neck. After a while I stopped using the others live as I found it annoying to have to switch often and I wanted to write bass lines that didn't depend on a certain instrument. At the same time I wanted to nail down my own sound rather than copy someone else's. I installed the Roland v-bass system after trialling it for a few months by using the external pickup and 'brain'. I got hold of the fully internal installation kit and approached the bass with a chisel, mallet, soldering iron and some screwdrivers. Now I have the 3 band pre and standard jack with active/passive switch but I also have the 13 pin Roland output and the pre-amp knobs become assignable to certain functions. An example is with my jazz bass model the tone knob sweeps through a user set range and with the Smith it changes the compression. Some people say its a complex system, and it is, but first of all I like fiddling with the settings and secondly once you save the setup it becomes truly plug+play. I haven't changed the main patches for over a year. It works brilliantly in the studio too where I can benefit from really hearing the subtleties of the sounds. 99% of the time I bypass the GK and play using the bass 'standard' but it's great to have in there for when the mood takes you. I concur that vigier necks are just amazing. Mine has seen off all my other kit now and it's staying! Cheers ped
13. It's funny how people think threads are locked 'as soon as they get interesting' or whatever it was... we hardly ever have to lock threads here. Try half these threads elsewhere and see how far you get! You have to realise that you were new once, too. Just because you think you know everything about basses now and don't need to ask any questions, it doesn't mean the forum has changed, as some have pointed out. New members are posting all the time to ask questions and I'm happy to see lots of older members here to help them out. There were threads like this when you guys were all new, probably.
14. Thanks BoOtsy, I'm glad the forum is working for you.
15. Just remember it's a bass guitar forum, Pete. I would be worried if people were attracted by 'sometimes controversial' off topic stuff.
16. Yeah I have the previous version, the Vbass and it's fantastic. Unfortunately as my bass has the GK kit installed internally I don't need the extra pickups and so forth. I would be interested to hear how much you would take for the unit only, if it comes to that. Cheers
17. Well done to the whole team. Fantastic result. Thanks a million
18. Yeah sure. Not sure what we can technically change (limited by the software) but always good to have ideas.
19. Thanks! Glad you like it. Spread the word...
20.
I'd bet that a large proportion of those 19,000 members are long gone. it would be interested to see a breakdown of membership based on when they last logged on or their login frequency, e.g. # members who logged on in last week # members who logged on in last month # members who logged on in last quarter # members who logged on in last year # members who have only ever logged in once or twice (i.e. signed up, asked one question, then never returned).
I have access to this sort of data and actually many of the members are active and visiting the site. We have over 50,000 unique visitors a month (who stay for a little while rather than accidentally landing here) but I think many members simply aren't bothered about things like this, at the end of the day. I use lots of other forums and if there was a similar poll on talkphotography for instance I wouldn't care at all, despite having hundreds of posts there.
21. Yeah - but what about everyone else! Might be good to see a bit of a mix.
