I can't make the 22nd but just wanted to say how great the band were when I saw you last - anyone thinking of going, go for it!
-
They really do - and they sound awesome too. The fuzz has such an 'airy' sound to it, with loads of control over the mids so it sounds great in a mix.

Here’s my board. After much trial and error this is what I’ve decided are my core favourites that I’ll use with my new band. Really pleased with it - the board is meant to hold 7-10 pedals but they didn’t expect 4 with one underneath!

Alright guys here we go. It’s nearly ready - just waiting for one more flex cable for the power supply. I’ve managed to avoid using the big wall wart for the mutron because Cioks told me it’ll work with two of their 9v battery snaps. Pretty pleased with it - I’ll just get the last couple of bits then get the cable ties out! The patch bay is useful; I’ve got the input, output from the comp and a tuner out from the Valco which is a master bypass. Also I’ve got an emergency 9v battery lined up to the barrel jack so I can power an extra pedal if I need to, off my board. I no longer need the splitter power cable that takes the IEC into the Cioks but it might be useful having a spare IEC under the board. Bonus - it fits in the gig bag (just, the height is a smidge too much but the bag has some ‘give’. When it’s 100% finished I’ll post it in the ‘show us yer pedalboard’ thread😀 Thanks for the help

Cheers, it’s really been a surprise because I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I do. It covers so much sonic territory from 60s J to a really thick and (this is going to sound stupid) stingray-ish P sound. And I’d never have believed that a 30” scale bass could work in drop D but it sounds massive. Oh and the setup is spot on, the neck is flawless and it even smells nice 😂

I think technically you don’t want the body to resonate and rob the string of its vibe, and potentially cancel out string vibrations. I guess there’s a happy medium where you feel connected but it doesn’t affect the sound too much.

Thanks! Yes that’s the one. It’s my favourite bass ever ❤️

Let me know the size from top to bottom and I'll have a look for you, or you could send a tracing perhaps! Hell, just come to York for a bass nerd out sesh.

Or tune it FCGD to really spice things up!

Gear4 music might have one in the warehouse and perhaps they’d measure it for you if you email. If not I can check one out for you when I’m next in the area https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/ESP-Premium-Guitar-Gig-Bag/35BW

The centre block / neck support is moveable so I angled it a bit to leave more room for the tuners which I’m always worried about bashing.
-
Yeah it’s not cheap but I couldn’t find one cheaper that fits and has the semi hardcase build. ESP do one which looks similar but it only has one shoulder strap.
-
Yeah it feels really solid. Importantly it's plenty wide enough around the headstock for tuners etc which can be tight on some guitar bags. Full report to follow!

I recon you've been eating your cookies 🍪

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!

Any short scale-ists out there looking for a case, I just tried and bought this one for my Mustang -
Just an update on this. I don't necessarily want to gig with my 60s Fender case (maybe a thief magnet, and I don't 100% trust the handle!) and the aforementioned Fender Short Scale gig bag is very light and offers little protection for anything more than carrying around on one's back. I went to Gear4Music in York to try a case which on paper fits the mustang quite well - my bass is about 42" from strap button to headstock (I think the reissues may be a tiny bit longer due to more body behind the bridge) but I'm happy to report that the Gator Icon guitar case fits perfectly. There's a removable cushion at the bottom which would offer extra room if you needed it. I'll post a proper pic later but it's a great case, comfortable handles and straps, lots of pockets, rain cover, semi rigid, light weight... https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Gator-ICON-Series-Bag-For-Electric-Guitars-Black/5DL2

Great stuff. Make sure you try it with rounds, too. Very chocolatey sound 🍫

Cheers yeah one like that would be great.. will keep my peepers open

I wouldn't mind an HPF to go under my desk for my bassboard. Ideally no footswitch, always on type job. Any recommendations?

Here's a track GTF did for charity (and their only cover except a Toto breakdown middle section in one of their songs) https://geniusthefool.bandcamp.com/track/blackbird
