  1. Thanks. Still lots to do, I think!
  2. Thanks for the feedback MrH - we'll look into those things later, I've added them to the list. We can move buttons etc around to some degree.
  3. Thanks - yes, all very odd, but when we're up to full strength and ironed out some of the bugs and we're all used to it, the old site will look pretty crappy.
  4. [quote name='largo' timestamp='1316337287' post='1376586'] I'm sure there's a lot of hard work gone into this, but I personally don't think the new look & feel is an improvement. Sorry! It might just be the old "resistance to change" factor kicking in and I'll certainly try to give the new-styling a go. Just wanted to say though as I don't think the old site was really that bad. [/quote] The change was a necessity due to improved anti spam features on the new software, but we also decided the new features were really worthwhile. I hope you get used to it. I think people said this last time, and have since the dawn of the interwebz! I guess some bits are slow as it's still essentially 'going live' so not up to full strength yet. I'm not technical with this at all so ben will be along later to update us all. Thanks guys ped
  5. [quote name='waynepunkdude' timestamp='1316336794' post='1376579'] Where is the mobile site? [/quote] It just loads automatically when I visit on my iPhone - guess other phones might not necessarily follow the same idea... We'll ned to adjust it later today to give people the option.
  6. [quote name='wateroftyne' timestamp='1316336043' post='1376568'] Ah - I've been through and configured what notifications I want. Is that by design? I would have thought reply & PM notifications would be best set to 'on' by default...? [/quote] Yes, by default everything is turned off! I think generally people don;t want to be bothered by emails and notifications as they might see it as spam, especially with the new types available on the new site - it's easier to allow each user to add what they like. I just had a notification of this reply as a red balloon and I have been sending PMs which I choose to be notified of my email. Hope it's working for you now? Cheers ped
  7. [quote name='wateroftyne' timestamp='1316335311' post='1376559'] Hmmmm... is anyone getting reply notifications? I've checked my settings and by default it's set to this: [b]Auto follow topics I reply to. Notification frequency: Immediate[/b] ..but I'm still not getting anything. Also, i think 'view new content' is a little vague. IMO it should be renamed to 'View new posts'. [/quote] Working for me. Make sure you tick the box next to the event type, too.
  8. [quote name='ZMech' timestamp='1316308709' post='1376487'] Great, cos I don't already spend too much time on here. That's just really inconsiderate of you. p.s. it's looking awesome, well done and thankyou Edit: a pretty pedantic problem i think, but for some reason the quotes on[url="http://basschat.co.uk/topic/145122-new-events-forum/"] this thread [/url]don't seem to be behaving. Just thought I'd point it out incase it shows something underlying... [/quote] Thanks, I'll check it out. Could be that because it was all written on the old site the new one doesn't recognise the quote tags... we probably need to adjust something.
  9. Thanks for the positive and negative comments, keep them coming. There used to be a 'use full site' button in the mobile app but there isn't at the moment, I'll see if we can have it back. [quote name='xgsjx' timestamp='1316333846' post='1376549'] I like the wee box at the top right that has a load of options. Nice touch. Is there a way to switch to desktop version? That would be handy for jumping pages. [/quote]
  10. Welcome! I went to Copenhagen in the summer and thought it was an amazing city. I really felt welcome and by the end of the week I felt I had explored the 'real' city off the tourist track. I want to go back!! Cheers ped
  11. The topics will essentially be marked as read if you come back and click see new since last visit, I think, because even though you haven't read the thread in question it'll know you have seen the thread so it won't display it as new, I think. [quote name='Kirky' timestamp='1316331967' post='1376533'] Spotted View New Content but can't see how to mark it as read. Looking much nicer, well done. [/quote]
  12. Morning guys I'll try and answer everything I can today so thanks for all the comments so far and bear with us in the niggles. To jump to the first unread post, press the blob to the left of the topic title. The mobIle app will be recoloured to fit the scheme soon. Notifications are off by default, have a look in settings where you can choose different types. The notifications alert will tell you when a topic you have followed is updated. I use the 'view new cintent' tab to see what's new and it's really handy to have the extra options there like 'topics I have posted in'. Cheers ped [quote name='wateroftyne' timestamp='1316325669' post='1376503'] Cheers, O! You can't check preferences on an iPhone (which is a shame - can this be changed?) so I'll have a look when I fire the laptop up later. Also - another 'feature': When you click on a thread on the mobile site, there doesn't seem to be a way to go straight to the latest post. If there's a few pages you have to click through them all... [/quote]
  13. Thanks. It's very similar but much easier for us to administrate (spam accounts etc) plus there's a load of new things which make the site more user friendly. Now go to bed ped
  14. You can't ignore me, Wazoo! Nellie will get through to you whatever you try and do!!! <----- (Nellie)
  15. I've already set your 'rep' to minus points
  16. That'll be re-coloured to match ASAP, so you can have the full Black+Orange effect in your pocket wherever you go!
  17. [quote name='escholl' timestamp='1316302125' post='1376443'] i seem to have lost all of the information that was on my profile? not a big deal -- just a list (to myself) of all the gear i fancied, would be nice to get it back though other than that, looks great! [/quote] Perhaps Ben can help with that... should all be there... maybe it was too explicit for the new software!
  18. [quote name='Mog' timestamp='1316302070' post='1376441'] WTF? I'm on New Zealand time and completely missed the change. Looks great lads, fair play. [/quote] Thanks! Have a good poke around and get used to the new site - I think you'll like it ped
  19. Thanks, I'm glad you like the update. I'm having a house party at the moment so it's quite a strange one for me, too. Lots of work has gone into the site, and we hope it makes the community stronger and better in months to come. We didn't really announce the new software change because it's been a work in progress for a long time which suddenly became a reality in a short space of time and we just wanted to get it up and rolling. Cheers ped
  20. Hi guys Welcome to the new version of everyone's favourite bass guitar website. Ever since we started this site we have endeavoured to bring you the best features we can offer to make the forum as strong as possible. Here's a few of the main new features, apart from the new skin:[list] [*]All new PMs will be organised by thread - sort of like Facebook messages. You can then invite members to existing threads. [*]Reputation system [*]Revamped search engine [*]Content sharing via social media buttons [*]Facebook/Twitter login [*]Mobile site for your smartphone - faster and better access to message board including PMs [*]A shop for Basschat merch! [/list] We all hope you enjoy the new features. I'm sure some issues will crop up so please let us know on the site issues forum if you discover anything or need some help. We're still converting posts and PMs. Some old posts will be unformatted and some of your old PMs will be unavailable. Normal service should resume in a couple of days! I would also like to thank Ben for all his hard work on the site. Brilliant work, thanks! Enjoy ped and Kiwi
  21. Sorry Stingray5 - I'm sure you'll do some bigger gigs so you can show it off then! Highfox - let me speak to the supplier - I'm sure you could just buy one as normal and I'll take the hit on the extra postage. I'll let you know ASAP Cheers
  22. [quote name='Johnston' post='1375724' date='Sep 16 2011, 04:53 PM']Any hints to this other equipment???[/quote] Some ideas in the pipeline, but I'm talking to a rangefinder camera strap maker about some lovely leather bass straps...
  23. [quote name='RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE' post='1375689' date='Sep 16 2011, 04:24 PM']I'm up for a black one. Red would be cool at some stage too[/quote] OK I GET IT!!! hehe Yeah I'm going to discuss new product lines on Monday, hopefully it'll be a touch above the usual tat with a logo on it so I'm going to think about useful bass guitar equipment and other things. Should be quite a nice little shop in the end; the new website has a proper 'shop' tab which will be much nicer and I'm setting up a card payment gateway so you don't have to use paypal. Thanks ped
