1. Apps are available in the next update which will happen this summer. I'm excited! ped
2. No worries. The hard cases have the wood paneling with aluminum edges and corners, big, heavy and possibly overkill. Semi hard cases are formed out of high density polystyrene which is then foam lined and/or with felt etc to make them rigid but light. They could snap I guess if subjected to extreme pressure but they offer massive protection and rigidity for a fraction of the price and weight. I haven't ever had any problems with them. getting one made for the head might be a difficulty but I'm sure there are places selling standard sized ones which you could further pad out as necessary to fit if you don't want to go the custom route. ped
3. Here they are. I'm sure there are others out there, too. http://www.grcases.co.uk/ ped EDIT: Colin (IIRC) said he no longer owns those shorts FYI
4. Ah booger I thought the Klystron was that Ashdown bass, for some reason. I'm sure you can get them made to fit. There's a place near my parents in Witney who were going to make one for my Vbass pedal. I'll see if I can find the link.
5. A soft shell hard case is my preference. Have used these in the past with lots of basses, and my Vigier came with a custom fit teardrop shape one - much lighter than a hard case and offer more protection than a softcase! 8. Looks fun, just been jamming along with a few drum tracks. Cheers ped
9. I remember when Bassworld was even more basic, literally a text based thing before there was any 'design' applied. I remember distinctly logging on and talking with the then 'man in charge' via AIM in my sixth form common room! We jumped ship (from Bassworld to Basstalk) at exactly the right time, because Bassworld finally ground to a halt a few days later due to not being updated at all for over a year. I'm not going to give out too many details but the 'man in charge' basically didn't have time or money to keep it going. I wasn't even able to contact him to convince him to let me carry it on, and so when we did, ourselves, by taking the database of members to Basstalk, he surfaced again and was rather angry. I think by that point the members had got used to the temporary nature of Basstalk and we were able to tell everyone who clambered aboard from all four corners of the interwebz that they would be moved on again, to a permanent home. Luckily this time we have a great team of staff who have kept the forum in tip top condition, doing all kinds of technical stuff behind the scenes whilst I do my best to throw obstacles in the way. Still, we don't leave bags or bass gear in the gangway just in case we have to jump ship again; as mentioned before, one or two people were lost in the transition(s) - although a large group of them were for some disagreement or other about how BC is akin to some messed up government regime. We plunder on... ped
10. Beautiful. Nearly had one of these myself... so flexible and nicely made.
11. Yo everyone I'm thinking about starting a funky party band with my housemate doing vocals/basic guitar. I'm going to need a decent drummer and keys/guitar. To give an example of the sort of style, these two tracks are the first two songs we want to loosely cover. We want to write original stuff too but will mostly sort of rip off awesome songs to play for fun, initially. We should be able to practice at my school in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire. Anyone in the Miadenhead/High Wycombe/Marlow/Windsor area please get in touch!!! ped
12. I totally forgot about the FBI thing! Crazy times. I remember first starting Bassworld where I would check for new posts on my WAP mobile. Really happy with where we are now, and long may it continue ped
13. It's a free service. You don't have to use it. You have alternatives like eBay You get timewasters everywhere Timewasters are outnumbered heavily and you may have had bad luck but these threads happen from time to time.
what I'm trying to do here is to set out some sort of common ground rules before starting on the road to a sale - if you were going to spend £500+ on a bass from a shop surely you'd read up on it first and do a bit of research, you wouldn't ring the shop and ask them a daft question so why do you think it's acceptable here?
Because that would be impossible to police and would largely be a waste of time in itself. All we can do is advise but you'll always get a numpty who will ignore that advice, in any business. I can assure you that the situation you describe is EXTREMELY common in shops, too. I can see why you are frustrated but let's look at the bigger picture. Go and punch something. ped
14. Nice idea. I have a short clip at hand of a full song, I'll replace it when I track the full version down!! Hops it's OK, I'm sure some people here have heard it before, even.. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/85432/USB%203/Stic...20Situation.mp3 Basically a clip from an album that's still being mixed down and finished... that's my brother on drums and pissing about in the vocal booth... just a bit of a laugh really!
15. I have had a 4x8 and the matching 1x15 for a few years now. I think I paid £20 for both. They are designed to be used together and as such don't recommend the 4x8 to be used by itself, but with the 15 it's a lovely sounding setup. Shame it wasn't working, it shouldn't sound gritty at all. The 4x8 in isolation is quite peaky and bright. ped
16. I'll be there on Sunday I think (Crufts on saturday to play with some staffies) I'll have my BC T on... ped
17.
I hail from that comfy space between Oxford and Witney!
It might excite you to find that this site was started many moons ago from Witney! My parents still live there.
18. If it's an expensive bass why not meet up with the chap in Europe for the sake of a train ticket and have a nice weekend away in the process. ped
19. Here we go: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?act=SR&f=19 It's at the top of every forum in the Marketplace Cheers ped

Guys, before any of you start to sound a little TOO impatient, please remember the moderators are volunteers who have lives outside the web (except Dood) so just relax a little bit and we will get round to something in the end. ped
