Technically they still need shielding from interference. Perhaps it wasn't done as much then as there were less electrical devices to cause it.

I reckon you can go and help someone else now 👍🏼

Maybe not Cobalt flats though 🤭 -
All the Beatles recordings, Just the Bass
ped replied to Waddo Soqable's topic in General Discussion
I must admit i've only recently started listening to the Beatles, and muddled my way through 'Don't Let Me Down' last night, lovely bassline to play Mind you I think I prefer this version: -
All the Beatles recordings, Just the Bass
ped replied to Waddo Soqable's topic in General Discussion
Someone's used an AI software like Moises to isolate the bass. Whilst it does a good job in general, it doesn't work well for showing a single instrument soloed, where you can hear some bleed, noise gate and digital artefacts. It works way better for removing an instrument from a mix, I think. But these results are enough to help you pick up the lines. -
This question is as old as the hills and there’s no absolute answer. You can find examples where either type of instrument is out front or back in the mix. So many other variables come into play, not least what the rest of the band are doing, the space you have, the mix - before you even get into how the bass in question makes you want to play. …but it sure is fun experimenting and getting the feeling when everything aligns and works perfectly.

Yeah well my brother is famously relaxed about everything so information is hard to come by but they definitely got on really well. They have been messaging since, but my brother lives in Daventry which is a bit far away. Question is, can he be bothered? Watch this space, I'll post updates. I won't ask @johnbiffa if you do weddings but you never know!

Boss Waza Air Bass - update to v1.30
ped replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in Accessories and Misc
I’ve finally done the update and still enjoying my wazas (I’m often outside having a Waz). Despite saying I probably don’t need the foot switch I’m wondering if anyone has one who could tell us about it. Because of the *insane* menu for selecting effects and so forth in the WAZA app I’m wondering how it works for turning effects on and off, because in the app you have several in one ‘slot’ and even then they’re blended in rather than switched if that makes any sense. I mostly use a clean sound patch with a limiter and bit of reverb, but that knocks out any further effects in those slots at the same time so maybe I’d make separate patches for the ones I want and use the switches in the pedal to go ‘up and down’ through them? -
I haven’t had any problems with mine. Max we’ve had are 3 pairs of cans connected and it’s great being able to assign a mix and level to each. Funnily enough I used mine yesterday for the first time in a while and remembered how good it is. The built in recorder is fantastic too. Really glad I bought it.

What a great gig! Really nice to meet @johnbiffaand @Oldman this evening. The sound at the venue was really good, the bass sounded rich and detailed which highlighted John’s excellent clean playing. Like Oldman’s wife said, it’s infectious to see musicians so clearly enjoying themselves. Thanks for the heads up and I’ll see you again no doubt.

Don't worry, the new website is coming

It's totally dependent on the question, and we don't know what that is, so not much point in speculating or saying one is better than the other. IMO, 'do you have XYZ in stock' is a phone call, whereas 'can you quote me for this' is an email.

I’ve had it for years and it’s my fave piece of kit - I use it as a hub for everything I do although I use it with the normal 1/4” input most of the time these days. It’s a brilliant preamp with the best compressor I’ve ever tried, and thinking about it I’ve used it to drive a power amp before using the main output which I guess would be the equivalent of the output of a sansamp or similar but not 100% sure as it’s mains powered and maybe not a fair comparison?

Ok mate I’ll give it a go 👍🏼

I’ve got one! But no preamp pedal to try it with.. could I try my VB99?

I emailed the other day about getting a Backbeat G2 ordered and Marcus replied the same day, but it went into my spam folder.

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!

This is what’s in mine https://www.geminipickups.co.uk/bass/thunderbird-bass/degenerate-tb I really like it; having one extra hot coil gives a nice wide range. Worth checking out their full range, they’ll do you a custom job too. Some of their offerings look like the same case/cover as your stock pickup (could be wrong) -

Looks like he's changed the control plate for a Jazz bass one too (three holes, and it's not slightly bent like the 'stang one). Either way he's on the right track, modded mustangs are cool -

Bruce’s neck pickup is definitely moved right up to the neck, and I think the location of the pickup (prob a humbucker) qualifies it for mudbucker vibes. -
