  1. [quote name='Shonks' timestamp='1316378948' post='1377331'] maybe i'll get used to it eventually! i guess you guys put a lot of effort into it, so thanks for that!!!!!!!!!!!!1 [/quote] Thanks. A lot of the issues that are cropping up are very simple to do when you know how, and they will become second nature soon. The whole thing about the notifications is interesting, they can be useful but you can also turn them off and just set the 'view new posts' bit as home and from there see threads you have contributed in or the ones you are following, so it's much easier to keep track of where you are than the last site.
  2. [quote name='Wooks79' timestamp='1316376433' post='1377246'] Agree 100% [/quote] There will be
  3. [quote name='Evil Undead' timestamp='1316376182' post='1377239'] Hey all I like the new site, but the mobile version is terrible. Unfortunately there seems to be no way to choose not to use it on aniPhone. Any way of changing this? [/quote] The mobile interface isn't finished yet and will change over the coming weeks
  4. [quote name='pete.young' timestamp='1316375044' post='1377199'] And you've broken my avatar. What are those black bars top and bottom? [/quote] Images were copied from the old forum so you may have to re-upload and adjust as you see fit
  5. [quote name='pete.young' timestamp='1316374958' post='1377198'] My first reaction is that there's far too much white space. The home screen is now three times as long as it used to be. In the forums, a one-line post takes up a lot of space due to the enormous amount of real-estate that is now allocated to username, avatar and all the mostly meaningless twaddle that appears underneath it, and then there's extra space for the Report/Multiquote/Quote buttons. Huge signatures also have too much prominence - it's almost impossible to find any content in the posts by Ou7shined and KiOgon, for example. I'm sure someone will find the new features useful. I think it's a step backwards in readability. [/quote] You can hide signatures if they bother you under the 'ignore' setting in your control panel.
  6. [quote name='Ou7shined' timestamp='1316374683' post='1377190'] How to subscribe to a thread without actually commenting in it? [/quote] Click 'follow' at the top right of the thread
  7. Plus he's been frozen in the gayest pose
  8. [quote name='essexbasscat' timestamp='1316358387' post='1376878'] OK, just checked this privacy issue. I was able to read BC members profiles without being logged in, so details are open to the web. Any comments on this PED ? [/quote] Sorry - turning that feature back on now.
  9. I can't afford lunch so I had to eat the shirt. I'm saving up for a hair cut
  10. I'll have some normal T shirts soon
  11. [quote name='wateroftyne' timestamp='1316347732' post='1376737'] Whilst we're all in nitpicky mode, I also think the 'view new posts' screen is a little bit too spaced out - you have to scroll up and down it a lot more than you used to. Yes, I'm lazy. [/quote] I agree, will look at it.
  12. Oh Jack, Spidey's frozen!
  13. I'm just going to leave the computer for a while, was up late and have some bits to do for next week - please keep posting ideas and comments and me and Ben will be along later to tackle each and every one that we can. Cheers for the feedback thus far ped
  14. [quote name='dave_bass5' timestamp='1316342107' post='1376649'] Yeah, the new PM's look really nice. One other niggle, im getting emails each time someone posts, is there a way of only getting one notification per visit? Cheers. EDIT: Ignor that, i see the notification system is a lot more configurable, ill work it out. [/quote] Perhaps - have a look in the settings tab under your username. I set emails only for PMs and a red flag on site for anything else...
  15. No, I don't think so!
  16. [quote name='dave_bass5' timestamp='1316340615' post='1376629'] Ive just noticed my PM's seem a bit harder to read, especially ones with a few replies in them. It looks like the different replies within the PM are just separated by the word Quote. Am i missing something?, will this be refind at all? [/quote] I think quote tags on the old forum worked differently so perhaps we can change that so old posts display correctly. The new PM system works really nicely, though. Cheers
  17. [quote name='dc2009' timestamp='1316339986' post='1376620'] Can we have a 'to top of the page' button again please? Or have I not found its new location? [/quote] Good shout
  18. Thanks. Still lots to do, I think!
  19. Thanks for the feedback MrH - we'll look into those things later, I've added them to the list. We can move buttons etc around to some degree.
  20. Thanks - yes, all very odd, but when we're up to full strength and ironed out some of the bugs and we're all used to it, the old site will look pretty crappy.
  21. [quote name='largo' timestamp='1316337287' post='1376586'] I'm sure there's a lot of hard work gone into this, but I personally don't think the new look & feel is an improvement. Sorry! It might just be the old "resistance to change" factor kicking in and I'll certainly try to give the new-styling a go. Just wanted to say though as I don't think the old site was really that bad. [/quote] The change was a necessity due to improved anti spam features on the new software, but we also decided the new features were really worthwhile. I hope you get used to it. I think people said this last time, and have since the dawn of the interwebz! I guess some bits are slow as it's still essentially 'going live' so not up to full strength yet. I'm not technical with this at all so ben will be along later to update us all. Thanks guys ped
  22. [quote name='waynepunkdude' timestamp='1316336794' post='1376579'] Where is the mobile site? [/quote] It just loads automatically when I visit on my iPhone - guess other phones might not necessarily follow the same idea... We'll ned to adjust it later today to give people the option.
  23. [quote name='wateroftyne' timestamp='1316336043' post='1376568'] Ah - I've been through and configured what notifications I want. Is that by design? I would have thought reply & PM notifications would be best set to 'on' by default...? [/quote] Yes, by default everything is turned off! I think generally people don;t want to be bothered by emails and notifications as they might see it as spam, especially with the new types available on the new site - it's easier to allow each user to add what they like. I just had a notification of this reply as a red balloon and I have been sending PMs which I choose to be notified of my email. Hope it's working for you now? Cheers ped
  24. [quote name='wateroftyne' timestamp='1316335311' post='1376559'] Hmmmm... is anyone getting reply notifications? I've checked my settings and by default it's set to this: [b]Auto follow topics I reply to. Notification frequency: Immediate[/b] ..but I'm still not getting anything. Also, i think 'view new content' is a little vague. IMO it should be renamed to 'View new posts'. [/quote] Working for me. Make sure you tick the box next to the event type, too.
  25. [quote name='ZMech' timestamp='1316308709' post='1376487'] Great, cos I don't already spend too much time on here. That's just really inconsiderate of you. p.s. it's looking awesome, well done and thankyou Edit: a pretty pedantic problem i think, but for some reason the quotes on[url="http://basschat.co.uk/topic/145122-new-events-forum/"] this thread [/url]don't seem to be behaving. Just thought I'd point it out incase it shows something underlying... [/quote] Thanks, I'll check it out. Could be that because it was all written on the old site the new one doesn't recognise the quote tags... we probably need to adjust something.
