Show us your rig!

Haven't looked at this thread for a while, so really nice just to catch up and see all these lovely rigs. Mine really isn't pretty at all, so I'm jealous. ped
3. I think the Hartke pedal will be OK as it has a DI. I think I have heard of someone else using one as a pre-amp with great results. I use my Vbass which is sort of a multi FX unit as a pre-amp and it's great (and it does stereo), so I think anything with a level DI out will be OK. Cab-wise it's the same as if you were buying a head and cab solution from any other company. Once you have your poweramp/pre-amp sorted you could take it to a shop and try some out. Cheers ped
4.
It was probably due to you wearing Lynx lol. Guess ill have to resort to my TalkBass T-shirt to woo the local shoppers this weekend.
We can't have that!! Strange it hasn't arrived yet - I think nearly all have now. If it doesn't show up I will refund you and send you another free (if I have one at the moment) or reserve you one in the next batch. It's probably being worn by a postie somewhere. Marleaux Bass Guitars of Germany sent me some things a while back and they went missing, so next time Gerald Marleaux sent them with a letter addressed to the postie asking him to deliver the parcel this time and to take a look at buying a Marleaux bass!! Cheers ped
5. One quick question OK here is the situation. Everything works. Just fine. However, the active circuit only works if a put a jack into the a/4" socket (even if I'm using the 13 pin output for the actual signal) because it completes the circuit like any normal active system. I have wired the jack holder part of the socket to the inside of the metal coated cavity (that's the bottom right wire in my diagram, the top of the two labelled 'earthed'), making the active circuit always connected, so it's there when I want it, but this drains the battery. How can I avoid this and make the active circuit switch on or off without having to use a 'dummy' jack socket? Will I need another switch instead? ped
6. Aye, I sent the link with the whole thread so the editors can pick what they like best. Cheers ped
7. Really sorry for any confusion. I had the eCommerce site all ready to go but for a whole week (and still now) the login page won't load. I thought best to avoid it in case it went tits up again. It didn't occur to me that people may have bookmarked the old thread, so apologies for that, too. Not that I am making excuses but it really was a mammoth task sorting it all out from beginning to end and now sorting out the one or two exchanges for different sizes etc. A pre-order thing may work well but I will have to find time to organise it all again soon. Last week was one of the worst in recent memory for me and although the sales went off without a hitch (well one tiny one) I think I need a little time to take a break from 'work' (in terms of Basschat) for a few days. Cheers all ped

9. Quick question for those who took these pics and to those IN the pics - does anyone mind if some of these are used in BGM in the next issue? I'll try and find out what happens regarding copyright and so on, but I didn't want to just let the editor choose from these pics without your permission. Also if you are in one of the pics and maybe you told the wife you were at work/doing DIY or whatever and you would prefer not to appear in the mag, please also let me know. Cheers ped
10. Beautiful. What sort of price range are we looking at? If I could have another fretted+fretless pair I would be extremely interested in this and the fretless LeFay for sale on BC. Such a sexy looking bass, this. Any more pics for me to look at? Cheers ped

My collection!

Cheers Gary, very kind. This bass is wasted in my hands. But I'll never lose it!!! ped Oh and I always play in D - I like the lower tension and the extra notes. I also find it more comfortable octave shape wise. With my pathetically light womanly touch on the strings it also means that the lower tension responds to variations in touch more than a higher tension string. I can get a real 'digging in' sound by playing a tiny bit harder than normal.
12. Sensual. Looks like a winner - get it polished though!! I spent a relaxing 30 mins polishing mine the other day (probably about the best part of my week) and now it's like a mirror again!! What strings do you like on the bass? I have tried several, and after settling firmly on Elixir's on the fretted, NOTHING works as well as marleaux strings on the fretless. Maybe because that's what I used at the beginning and so I'm used to them, but they just resonate really nicely with the feel of the bass and are somehow more tactile than the others I have tried. Obviously no need to use flats on these necks! Cheers ped P.s I think we all need to see some proper decent large pics of your 80s and 00's Arpege basses together. I will do a matching one of my twins in reply!
13. I think I have only ever played one OW bass and that was a long time ago... actually no I played a 36" fretless recently... lovely craftsmanship. ped
14. You can use it with anything with a 13 pin input - Axon, Roland etc etc. TBH I am not really an expert, but have a look here which might help: http://www.vguitarforums.com/smf/index.php All I know is that with the Vbass it sounds incredible. I think with other devices where the pitch is converted to MIDI there may be some latency. ped
15.
Perfect match for my Mesa Boogie 1615be cab I have for sale. I used them together for a long while. See my ad on this site for more details.
Yep - that's what I used with it!
16. Cheers Jase Here are some pics of these delightful cases: As you can see, this one has a small square cut into the foam at the back of the case, it's only a cm or do deep and doesn't affect the protection of the case one bit. the other doesn't have this. They also have 'Vigier' logos on and white masking tape labelled 'fretted' and 'fretless' - all of which can be removed. Both are almost as new (little dusty) and still have their tags and silica gel, though I can't find the straps for them at the moment (but tbh they aren't much good on yer' back) ped
17. Now surplus to requirements since I have the internal installation instead. Yours for £55 posted Pretty good nick, complete with clamp. Installed on a bass:
18.
In the WH Smiths in Ealing Broadway and in Westfield (the largest shopping centre in Europe I might add) they are still carrying last months with no sign of the latest issue.
Depends on what you are including in the measurable area, son - the Metro Centre in Tyneside is the biggest in terms of lettable square footage. Westfield is the biggest 'City Centre' mall but when stacked up against out of town developments it isn't as big (third largest at the mo I think) L8z ped
19. OK I have to go post these now, so the T's are NO LONGER FOR SALE but there will be some at BASS DAY and possibly the next bash. Cheers ped
