Might I just add that this brings me to believe that Roland are at fault. Although Dawson's could have checked the item before sending it on to me twice in a row... but still... sort it out, Roland. Put someone who can read in the warehouse.

That's me, son. I'm also a gentleman lover.

Oh. My. Word. I got the pickup today. Guess what. Here is an email I just sent to Dawson's and everyone I know at Roland: ---------------------------------------- Guys. I can't quite believe what has just happened. After going this evening to pick up a Roland GK-KITBG which I have tried and failed to order through Dawson's music twice now, I discover that I have, for the THIRD TIME, been sent the GUITAR version. The lack of competence leaves me speechless. Three times in a row is quite unbelievable to say the least. Can someone call me on ************** to explain what has happened, after 2.30 tomorrow afternoon. I also expect someone to go to the Roland warehouse, pick up the GK-KITBG and sent it to me priority by the weekend, by TNT. The item you just sent is on its way back and will be with you tomorrow. Whilst this whole process is leaving me frankly bewildered, need I remind you that it is making extremely interesting and entertaining reading for the thousands of members of my website, the biggest in Europe of it's kind. So, just to reiterate - I am a BASS PLAYER, so I have no need for the GUITAR kit. I need the BASS KIT, the GK-KIT-BG. here it is on your website: http://www.roland.co.uk/products/productde...p;tab=Downloads You have my address and my money (you have done for 6-9 weeks now, I have lost count) so I expect the correct item to be delivered to me ASAP. I also expect a call from someone to explain to me why this has happened three times in a row. I look forward to hearing from you. Christopher Hiscocks www.BASSchat.co.uk (I am a bass player) -------------------------------------------------- This from a company who produced the V-bass??? Imagine what they could have come up with if they were able to read! Just amazing.

I quite like to tap the strings rhythmically in between notes like dead notes, mimicking the drums and emphasising the rhythmic content of the groove. It's hard to explain, but I guess it helps me with keeping the groove and I feel really comfortable venturing around with different grooves and keeping the click/tap/clank of the beat under it. ped
Are the Comfort Strapps the bouncy thngs?
Yeah, my Alembic bounced around on one... bit annoying actually... but the Vigier weighs sod all so no bounce at all. Something in between would be ideal.

Hmm those do look nice. Tempted with one of these http://www.harvest-guitar.com/en/Top-grade-Nappa.html ped

An actually I used to have one of these http://www.levysleathers.com/product;cat,1...itar-Straps-MS4 Was pretty nice but would prefer a non adjustable one cut to measure. TBH there isn't anything wrong with my comfort strapp but you know... I like 'accessories' ped

Does anyone make a really nice soft suede strap?

I use them in the same was as shown in S.P's awesome diagram. I usually have my rig at the same time. My signal goes like this: Bass > Vbass > Stereo Poweramp > SWR 4x8 (right channel) and 1x15 (left channel) cabs _____________________________> IEM Shure E2c with foam tips _____________________________> FOH (whatever the venue provides) So the Vbass splits the signal into each destination. Sometimes if the gig is decent then I won't bother with my rig as the monitors are up to scratch. I got tired of doing gigs where I was the only one who could hear my amplifier and even I was having trouble in some venues. IEMs rule! I also really like the semi studio feeling of having a CD volume band to play along to. Having only me in my IEM mix also eliminates the risk of dangerous frequencies and so on. I also love the fact that for me, E2cs produce exactly the sound my bass makes to desk and through my amp, so I know what I am hearing is the uncoloured 'truth'. It makes everything much easier when you have the same sound everywhere. ped

Thanks guys. Said bass is going to have a polish later as a treat. I might even get her a new battery. Hopefully for my birthday someone will get me a cake eating chimp! Ped

How sad is this. I hope nobody I know (especially female) reads this. My bass is 21 years old tomorrow!! I thought you would all join me in a celebration. Here are a few pictures of our best times together: Recording (well, posing in between) Artist relations with Vigier themselves (yeah, my brother made this up for a laugh) Meeting its brothers and sisters @ a Bass Bash (tm) With me in weekend dress And of course the BC bash! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! LMAO

I might be wrong but I think Schaller £D bridges 3 hole arrangement are a direct fit onto a fender. far better bridges than the Badass, too, in my opinion! ped

Well guys, we have a breakthrough. Roland are sending me the item direct straight away and Dawsons are coming to get the other pickups from work tomorrow, and my original postage is being refunded. Chalk one up for consumer rights! ped

Do you guys reckon fretless basses should have lines?

Just sent this: Hi ********, I have spoken to Roland who have confirmed the product is still in stock and being manufactured. I thought I would send you a link to the discussion of this issue on my website. It has just had 1000 unique views. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=59858&hl= I apologise if I I sound angry in the beginning but I am sure you can see my side of the argument, and you in particular have been a great help so far in correspondence. I urge you to rethink your policy (paying particular attention to the section of that thread about my refund rights as a distance customer) Please get back to me ASAP. Many thanks Christopher

Thanks guys. I have been pretty busy but will forward this info to the guy at Dawsons, who, to be fair, seems to be listening and a fair chap. Probably not his idea that he won't refund my money, but I absolutely refuse to comply with this particular policy. Roland, on the other hand, are being fantastic. ped

yeah that was cool fun. Definitely something to be explored another time I think. Me and Kiwi tried to get a double electric bass jam going in Northampton but it didn't really work!
"It was all working this morning....." Gutted I couldn't make it, really enjoyed the last one. Hope everyone had a good day!
Haha. Yeah Oli did a great job of cooking up some beats at the last minute. We hadn't met until about 5 mins beforehand so it was a great experience 'jamming' for the first time during my workshop thing. Cheers ped

Yeah we discussed that possibility and I guess it's the only option. Nice to see you on Sat :0) ped

I would comply if I could, but I can't sign a whole day away to waiting for TNT or waiting in a que in the Post Office (if it's even open with the strikes being on in Oxford) and it's miles away now anyway!!

Thanks. Just had a quick look but couldn't see anything :0(

Not if I send them a link ;0)
