1. Actually having looked again the Fodera is more extreme than I remember, but there is one manufacturer who make one with a MAHOOOSIVE bump, can't remember who now though
2.
This hasn't got a massive bump where the top horn should be Ped? I'd like to see a bass that does then It's a Fodera, it looks like a Fodera! If you like Fodera's you'll probably like this If not.......
I mean the top horn sort of gracefully falls away into the neck, wheras something like thsi is a really large 'bump' which looks kind of odd in my opinion: See what I mean? Not really a fan of single cuts anyway to be honest (or Foderas, only having played 2)
3. Very sexy looking bass...
4.
Lined. Why make fretless bass playing anymore difficult than it already is?
Just started watching 'The Thick Of It' so I love yer' avatar!! I don't mind either way tbh... my bass is unlined but with lines and dots on the side, so it works for me. ped
5. Before I went with the Vbass and before that the pod XT pro I had a Boss RV5 that was excellent. Since having the Vbass I have discovered the joy that is stereo reverb (which I think the RV5 can do). through my IEMs, set really quiet and subtle, it makes playing solo bass feel really warm and full. ped
6. I literally don't have the time to get the packaging and take them to the P.O unfortunately :0( Come and get em folks! I have had a PM from someone who might arrange a courier to collect - if you can get someone to come on a weekday evening then that would work, and again I won't be able to pack them in any way though. Chers ped
7. It's the guitar version though Steve
8. Does the white wire go to the battery? I think the other two terminals are for the earth and the output of the pickups, earth in the centre and the pickup signal to the remaining point. Let us know which colour wire goes where and we should be able to help. ped
9. Am I the only one who finds the sound of their bass on 'Active' with the controls set in the centre exactly the same as their passive tone? I play passive most of the time but if I need some extra bite or something I can kick in the EQ - otherwise it causes no issues whatsoever.
10. For a single-cut I think the shaps is quite nice (much better than those with a massive bump where the top horn should be) but the control area looks a bit messy with the mixture of control knob types and the jack plate
11. Yeah, you have to be careful. Read the small print and make sure you get a powerful one and they are a winner!
12. These are one of the best kept secrets IMO - http://www.technicalhifi.com/cats.php?cat=27 1u, really light, cheap and great. I got an 800w one from eBay for £90, Kiwi got a 1600w one from eBay for £150ish (ours both look the same as the top one on that page, with the light strips, but mine is silver and 'unbranded' If you search for 'Technical Pro' on eBay you might strike lucky. You can but from the US too, because they are switchable voltage.

Hear how I do it

As a preamp and interface yeah... actually thinking about it I think the bass signal has a touch of stereo reverb on it. During the recording sessions I like to have all my options at my feet, so to speak, even though most of the time I am clean as a whistle.

Hear how I do it

Here are a couple of clips from a recent recording sesh - just thought I'd pop them up here for comments etc. Just a bit of fun really! Not sure if I had posted them before? Cheers ped http://dl.dropbox.com/u/85432/USB%203/Sticky%20Situation.mp3 http://dl.dropbox.com/u/85432/USB%203/Canti%27s%20Wrap.mp3 (signal is my bass clean into my Vbass, also clean, into desk, also clean but a bit dusty)
16. All XLs are gone I think mate - I will take whatever is left to Bass Day. Cheers ped

Show us your rig!

Well thanks for ze comments... considering it cost me about £300 in total I am pretty pleased to be honest. really like the horns in those SWR cabs. I am in love with the sound of the rig, it beats the Mesa 400+/1516BE and the Trace Elliot V4 combo to my ears - but to be honest I sound PRETTY MUCH the same through any amplifier for some reason. It could be lighter (I guess 4x8 sized cabs are about manageable) and look prettier though. Still, who gives! ped
18. I would really prefer to avoid shipping them - my local post office has closed so it means getting into town which is a real ballache in itself, let alone with parcels, so I can queue for a few hours until it closes at 12! Nice to hear from you BTW and sounds like you are doing some impressive work from 'yer email! ped
19. If this had the ability to 'undo' layers it would be perfect for me!
20. Must be a horrible situation - hope the £1200 goes to funding a more suitable bass which you like just as much ped

Show us your rig!

My rig on the left - nicer rigs elsewhere!

Show us your rig!

Haven't looked at this thread for a while, so really nice just to catch up and see all these lovely rigs. Mine really isn't pretty at all, so I'm jealous. ped
24. I think the Hartke pedal will be OK as it has a DI. I think I have heard of someone else using one as a pre-amp with great results. I use my Vbass which is sort of a multi FX unit as a pre-amp and it's great (and it does stereo), so I think anything with a level DI out will be OK. Cab-wise it's the same as if you were buying a head and cab solution from any other company. Once you have your poweramp/pre-amp sorted you could take it to a shop and try some out. Cheers ped
