It has some different outputs... if you look at the site, the XT Pro has SP/dif (or something) ins and outs and a couple of other things. In terms of the sound and software they are identical.
-
Yeah it is expensive - initially I was just using the headphone output with the foam tips on my headphones so I could hear myself perfectly but the sound of the band filtered through, too. It was very cheap and worked really well in some venues.
A) If you are plugging direct into the PA you don't need a power amp at all - just plug the Pod into to the PA directly for the front of house sound. What you might need, though, is some type of "monitor" system so that you can hear yourself playing - either a feed back from the PA mixer to a monitor or a separate feed from the Pod into a small amp/cab or monitor.
I gigged a few times like this and for my personal monitoring just used my Shure in ears from the headphone jack. Sounded great and worked a treat. Still do it now and again, and always in the studio.

Think there is still that green 4 string at the gallery

The 400+ is really a cut above the more recent additions to the Mesa stable (except one or two models) IMO. It has been used by all kinds - Mark King, Les Claypool, Flea to name a few popular folks who have moved on to other amplifiers partly to bolster sales of new models for their endorsers (possibly!) Lovely amplifier, bit heavy for me now though.

Post your pictures, Lets see what you all look like.

I have the new shirts here... I am now waiting on some money so I can get them printed, but they will be available soon folks!! Two designs this time - some of the orange ones like last time and some long sleeved grey ones with black short sleeve over the top, too. I also have sizes from small to XXL which is the biggest they do. Cheers ped -

I found that each bass ended up sounding best with very different settings (as it looks like you are, too) On the whole, I didn't use the cab modelling other than for special sounds. My main setup was: Vigier 4 fretted - 'adam and eve' head with a touch of EQ, reverb, compression (loved the compressor in the XT) Vigier 4 fretless - 'SM500 head and EA 1x12 cab, reverb, chorus (switchable) and eq, comp Vigier 5 fretted - 'Eighties' head, reverb, compression ...And a couple of 'specials' - stink synth being a fave which had all sorts going on. Through my amplifier at the time (Trace V4) I bypasses all modelling but used a touch of compression and reverb. I really loved my XT pro and even though the route to finding the right tones was long and fiddly, when i had then dialled, it was a great plug and play unit, it worked in the studio, live and at home, and my basses sounded like themselves without any messing about. Now I use the Roland Vbass which is arguably harder to use but I still have the same sound through everything as I did with the pod. I guess I wanted the most 'honest' sound for each bass and mainly used it as an audio interface and compressor. Here are my settings if you want to mess about with them: http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/85432/li...ink%20synth.l6t http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/85432/li...Stink%20wop.l6t http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/85432/li.../SVT%20grit.l6t http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/85432/li...0Studio%204.l6t http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/85432/li...Studio%20FL.l6t Cheers ped P.s some samples of the sounds being used (just to show how bass specific they are - they will probably sound totally different on your bass) http://www.freewebs.com/mrped/facethemusic.htm (Torrential - fretless setting) (2001 - stink synth) http://www.freewebs.com/mrped/apps/videos/...er-guitars-demo (Vigier fretted 4 setting, fretless setting and 5 string setting)

Dudes Just tried to use my audio interface and do on all at once to make a video. Couple of issues - the sound spikes a couple of times and the drums are really loud and the loop is rubbish as you will hear. I THINK I have the problems worked out now - my brother is going to record some actual drum grooves so I can demonstrate my Vbass a bit and I now know how to adjust the levels of everything in Cubase (worked it out as soon as I had packed everything away, of course) Here is the shabby attempt - guess the quality etc is OK.. had the sound and the visuals synced up perfectly but after uploading to youtube I think it is very slightly out. Cheers ped
Looking through the Vintage range, I have infact decided that my next bass will be the Vintage AV4+1:
That looks gorgeous... rarely do I see a take on the Jazz shape which 'works'. Tasty.

Welcome back mate. One word of caution - sometimes you get REALLY used to the sound of your bass, and playing something else instantly sounds better (though may not feel as nice) because it sounds new and interesting. Give it a month or so and go back to the Warwick with fresh ears, and it will sound new again, and take you by surprise. I have made the mistake of selling basses which I have listened back to on recordings and thought ''aww that sounds lovely!'' Cheers ped

Cheers Mark - please pop back and let us know what you are up to, bas or otherwise ;0) All the best ped

FWIW lots of audio interfaces come with a decent recording programme. I recently got a Tascam one and it came with Cubase 4.

Good tune - it feels a bit 'rushed' in terms of tempo, would like to hear it kicked back a tad. Nicely sums up my feelings about my ex though, so well done. Great effort, keep it coming. ped
I'm almost 100% certain that used to be mine before it was stolen from me in 1987! For nothing more than sentimentalty's sake, I'm going to contact Paul at Wal to see if he can check in the book for me.. I bought in 1983 from a long-since defunct music shop in Barnet, London and it was my first ever Wal.. Did a few tours with it and then it was stolen from a rehearsal studio called Prime Time in London Bridge where we were based.. Turned out the guy who did the break in was Dexy's Midnight Runner's drummer and though he was nicked, we never got any of our gear back!!
I think we should have a whip around and buy it back for you :0)

Quite a boxy sound isn't it - wonder what was used to record it.
