1. Me too Russ. It feels a bit like he is going through the motions now. I don't know, I can't put my finger on it. I gave OWAW a single listen and haven't listened since...
2. So you didn't get to try the Shukermidibeast through it then?
3.
I think we should start a "I wish I had not sold my V8" club! I don't know why but every time someone mentions V8, I get this sad sort of feeling.... On the bright side, my back is not so bad any more
Better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all! Or something!
4. PLEASE get some pics!! Don't think I have ever seen a matching cab in 410 config. I thought they were all cloth covered (over a metal grille) Cheers ped
5.
Yes the wiring looks like it took some patience to get done I'm loving the Kiwi in MoP too. A very sweet piece of work. Ped do you have the new V Bass yet? If not is it worth the move? Oh and I hope the photo wasn't taken while it was falling off its stand Peter
Hi Peter, I haven't gone for the new Vbass yet because it is quite expensive... it has a couple of new features that would be fun but not worth the upgrade for me personally. You can get the original for around £300 now and the new one is somewhere around a grand, so the value of the old one is outstanding. The new one is still a good price considering what it can do, though. Did you read the recent Bass Player review? I must admit I prefer the format of the old unit too as a single pedal; the new one is a desktop type affair which would be more awkward for me. Looking forward to trying the Shuker through it though. I really liked Kiwi's Axon, great fun playing drums on the bass but the lag was too much as we hadn't set it up properly, but potentially very cool. Cheers ped
6. Cool pics, I like the action shot!! Technically there won't be any lag when playing through a Vbass as it is not MIDI. ped
7. I had a 5 string one with a Status graphite neck. I really liked it. Turned out the neck needed shimming but once sorted it was great. Very usable sound... I actually preferred it to the actual wooden necked MM! ped
8. If you have the facilities, why not try some online collaboration. I have recorded a few parts for songs via Kompoz.com and it is really good fun... ped
9.
Whens plans for the next NW Bass Bash?? I'll defintely be there, was speaking to Chris Carter bout organising another one, i'm keen to push this as I wasn't around for the last one having a gig on the same day. Mr Hiscocks, any details? If I can organise anything or help, must get another one on this summer or soonish!! Oh btw Ped, Chris C loves the Overwater 7...!! Took it along to a rehearsal he was at, beastly bass I love his Vigier, thats soo nice!! Anywayy....talk on msn sometime Chris, lets get the next one rolling!!
Hi Matt :0) No plans for a NE bash at the moment, but we are sorting out a rather special national bash for the summer. If you want to organise anything up there, go ahead! I don't live anywhere near so difficult for me to take the lead on that one. The venue for the bash last time was good but access to the room wasn't perfect (couple of thick studio doors to carry gear through via the control room) so maybe you could find somewhere better? I plan on going up to see Mr. carter soon so will definitely give you a shout when I know dates etc, we can meet up with Myth_ste too! Cheers ped
10. Oh yes, the fretless Thumb? I thought it really suited that bass.
11. Hi Peter, I really enjoyed the thread where you fitted the pre. very interesting to read with all the detailed pics and so on. I quite like the black and gold knobs on this actually! I was wondering if you had the facilities to record any of these basses with the ACG - I have only heard them in ACG basses (Other than the J.East demo at the SEBB) but would be interested to hear them in a familiar context. Cheers ped
12. Just went to send this to Hamster but see he has been sorted already!! Good piece of kit though. ped
13. Moved! Force of habit I suppose? We should have added an FX specific section ages ago! ped
14. Hi James, Welcome to the site - get stuck in! ped
15.
Grant from Toupé now often plays a four rather than a six, but tuned BEGC! One thing I rather like about having a little extra lower range is that it tends to put my guitarist and I about two octaves apart, which leaves a handy space in the middle for my vocals. Alex
Toupe are brilliant! So is he using his older Pedulla 4 string now?
16. Looks OK, will check it out. EDIT: Maybe not, now I have seen some of the members. ped
17. Had exactly the same issue with mine mate, I ended up having to sell in the end anyway but the buyer agreed it was a dry solder joint and fixed it himself eventually. Great amplifiers when they work! Cheers ped
18. I think its a good idea in some ways. I have always tuned DADG because you get a couple of extra notes and I like the looser feel. Playing in E now feels a bit tight and restricted, so why not have 2 more notes to play with! I wouldn't lose my G though because I really like the feel of it under my hand for the occasional 'pop' and haven't found anything below D very useful for me. Definitely no reason not to keep it BEAD though. Tune however works. I used to play a P bass tuned BEAG for a while because the songs were impossible to play otherwise, they were written on a 5 but then I sold it without thinking!! Cheers ped
19. Good stuff. This is what Basschat/Basstalk/Bassworld are (and were) all about. Group hug indeed. I have said it before and I will say it again, the site has never been stronger :0) Cheers ped
20. Quick chaps, he only has 10 available!! Obviously not very close to a B&Q then...
21. For me it is a simple case of each to their own. I have nothing against them, have owned several, but ultimately found them to be solid and the sound to be fine. Personally I prefer to have my 'own' sound rather than a P or a J, but they still sound good to my ears. Just not terribly comfortable to play and they seem extremely expensive for what they are when looked at in the cold light of day.
22.
Mind you, I do run two Triumph Bonnevilles, so I can't really criticise........
...And I have an unhealthy obsession with watches!!
23. Yes, funnily enough as soon as I heard the album track some months ago I went straight to my Vbass to cop the sound. One preset called GR2000 or something sounded very similar, kind of a saw shaped wave. I played around with it and got just what I wanted, added a bit of sub eq to fill out the bottom and me and my brother jammed the track for hours (he is a drummer!) Cheers ped
