Show us your rig!

LOL yeah the cabs sound fantastic mate. I am almost feeling better now, too. Back to work tomorrow, I think. Maybe I put this in the wrong thread?? ped P.s Josh that's just a fairly non offensive fleece but it does look a bit like a cape or something. Damn I should have worn a cape. And a headband.

Debated weather to post this or not but decided it was quite funny. I AM trying to look like a tool btw, and I don't have to try that hard.

Synth Pedals?

I use synths quite a bit, albeit usually in tandem with a clean bassline. The only song I have up online is the track here http://www.freewebs.com/mrped/facethemusic.htm Track '2001- biting the bullet' which was recorded though my 'stink synth' patch on a pod XT pro. Nowadays I am doing the same thing through a Vbass which is just a revelation for reasons I have stated elsewhere quite a lot - the polyphonic flawless tracking and the complete flexibility. Great fun!
6. I am over the moon with the way Elixirs last and sound, and I have learned the hard way that if it aint broke, don't fix it! Given my previous experiences with normal rotos I won't be checking them out!
7. What a stunning pair.
8.
The Wife gave me a pair of beyerdynamic DTX 50's for Xmas, they rock. I have the eq flat on my ipod and they're grat from low to high.
yeah having the EQ flat is a must IMO because all the EQ settings are extreme. I haven't heard one pair of cans reproduce most bass heavy records without distortion on the 'rock' setting. Even so, after all the evolutions the iPod has had, I don't know what they haven't developed a user programmable EQ... or have they? I have only had a 4th gen iPod Video and an iPhone...
9. Very nice mate, where did the S1 come from? The Roland combo looks great too. ped
10. I have a similar setup - a 'noname' 400w a side stereo power amp, digital, which is the size and weight of a small 1u DVD player. I can play my bass right into that and from there into my SWR compact cabs, or plug the Vbass pedal into the poweramp, acting as a stereo pre-amp (but my clean setting is pretty much bypassed anyway!) Preamps? pah! Cheers ped
11. Hi Grumble. Are you the same Grumble that was on Bassworld? If not then there is another grumbler out there somewhere! Cheers and welcome ped
12. Hi mate, I used to have a BAsson 210 cab and although it sounded great, it was extremely heavy and, more importantly, very power hungry. I was driving it with a Mesa 400+ valve head and even that struggled to power it suficiently. The 15 is not SO hungry but I don't think you will get much volume from it with a 280w head (at 4 ohm... the cab is 8 ohm so you will get maybe 180w at 8 ohm) I would go looking for a lighter and more efficient speaker. Cheers ped
13. Always had great experiences with Peavey stuff. I don't need this but sort of wish I did, if you know what I'm saying!!?!
14. Looks like a cool piece of kit
15. Yeah worth a shot I think. Sennheiser rarely make a duff product IME. Cheers ped
16. E2Cs have been replaced by SLC2s or something now - my brother got a set but we found them to sound very different to the E2Cs. Harsher and thinner sounding, I thought. Perhaps they need breaking in? Hmm.
17. Hi mate, Yeah I love my E2cs for bass but with the iPod they are almost too revealing, hard to put my finger on it. Perhaps they would sound better with the rubber sleeves instead of the foam ones I use for bass playing. I have some cheapish Sennheiser in ear headphones which I use when the Grado's are too cumbersome and they sound great - a little lively in the top end perhaps and being airtight you can hear any noise from moving the cable/walking/eating magnified x10 which can be frustrating! Here they are: http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/icm.nsf/root/500968 ped
18. Met Mistahbenn today to pick up a couple of speakers - lovely job. Highly recommended :-) Cheers ped P.s I merged your two feedback threads together mate.

My collection!

Just updating my thread with my latest bit of gear: Today I got some cabs at last and now my pro quality rig for under £300 is complete. It sounds fantastic, everything I wanted. I can plug my bass straight into the power amp or use the Vbass into the amp in stereo. The cabs have a thunderous low end and are really REALLY articulate and clear. I will still be using IEMs 99% of the time but this fits the bill for the other 1%. The cabs are pretty light (about 55lbs) and quite compact (4x8 and 1x15) so moving it about should be easier and the two cabs fit in the boot of my Vectra! Cheers ped

Josh, does that Gramma pad make any difference? I would be interested to hear your thoughts. Today I got some cabs at last and now my pro quality rig for under £300 is complete. 21. Hi guys I need speakon to jack leads instead but the little twerp of a 'manager' in maplins wouldn't swap them despite the ones I wanted being £6 cheaper each. £20 for both posted or a tenner each. Would like a swap for two speakon to jack leads instead preferably but I realise it's probably a long shot. Should have bought the leads from maplins but I told the boy to stick them up his arse so can't really go back. Ped
22. I still want Basschat plates for the BC team... PED5 81TCH 1, PED5 81TCH 2, PED5 81TCH 3 etc
23.
I agree with you on this point, its almost liberating. Steve
Yeah, nothing quite like knowing the bass in your hands is 'the one' so you can focus totally on the music... ped
24. Cool rig, I tried an almost identical rig at the SEBB and it was superb, really suited me!
25. Personally a 200w power section for me is the best balance of sound, weight and volume. I also thought the visual bias system on the Trace was one of the most useful features I have seen. Other than that, keep it simple, I think. The amp should be about a great core sound without the need for powerful EQs and so on. ped
