1. Looking like Birmingham or Northampton at the moment, got a few irons in the fire at the mo so nothing solid yet. Cheers ped
2. Hey guys, just a note to say how grateful I am for everyone involved in setting up this event and to all those who attended. You make Basschat proud! Hopefully we can have a national bash soon. Cheers ped
3. Hi guys, just been looking through the pics of the bash, gotta say you all have done Basschat proud! Both look like great fun and I am really glad more members managed to meet up and put names and faces to usernames, it really helps the forum stay so friendly and fun. Cheers ped
4. LOL sorry mate. It's absurd really and a few weeks ago I would have laughed at the idea of anyone using an ipod/phone as a serious piece of music equipment but programmes like this really do make it a worthy device. That and the shotgun application, which is fun.
5. http://www.intua.net/products.html I mean this looks amazing...
6. Hi guys, I am enjoying playing along with some drum loops I have downloaded from here and other sites which I then put on my iphone and through my mixer which is fed to my IEMs. I was looking just now at apps for the phone and there is a fully featured drum sequencer for £11 which looks fantastic. It is called BEATMAKER. Has anyone tried it? Is there a good selection of built in beats to practice to? Can anyone reccomend another programme? I would mainly like a massive selection of built in rhythms preferably in a 'real' kit sound rather than synthy drums, and the ability to make/save my own patterns is a bonus... Cheers ped
7. Hi Stuart, 'prurple' sounds like fun ;0) ped
8.
You'd think so but the world of endorsements is a murky one...
Yeah, someone gave me one after all!
9. FRENCH?? Avoid ;0)
10. I just piced up a 'noname' one form ebay for £90, 400w stereo and 1u, great piece of kit. If I was buying new I would go for the BK electronics MF1200D (I think)
11.
I'd make a shout for Betty Davis, her first couple of albums are superb. Larry Graham on bass duties and theres a lot of solid, repeated, simple(ish) bass grooves going on there. A lot of the time with Sly/Graham Central Station I feel he's a bit uber but he cuts it back with Betty. Also, its some of the filthiest music around. Delicious!
How random, I just came here to mention Betty! It came up in my Last.fm station recently and instantly bought @they Say I'm Different' and 'Betty Davis' because both are just bloody great!! ped
12. Velvery rich, smooth and clear graphite shazam with a clanky defined bottom with a bit of how's your father top end coated with some retrospective assiduity. basically. If you really wanna know, check out moi website in me sig! ped
13.
What about this one then?
After playing that I would be surprised if my 'Manlihood' was still intact!
14. I love ramps too! The pickups on my basses (fretted and fretless both the same type) act as a ramp as they are over the playing area and very smooth. The fretted in particular works well as the 'ramp' is slightly radiused which I prefer I think... They help a lot I think, but I only notice when I play another bass. I play really lightly so the ramp is a nice reference point and makes the playing area feel really nice! You can see the shine that has appeared on the pickups over time! Cheers ped
15.
With custom basses, the relationship between customer and luthier is important in getting things right. have a chat to Jon and Martin and see who's more on your level.
+1 good call Thomas my boy
16. I am going to have to give it another listen!
17. Me too Russ. It feels a bit like he is going through the motions now. I don't know, I can't put my finger on it. I gave OWAW a single listen and haven't listened since...
18. So you didn't get to try the Shukermidibeast through it then?
19.
I think we should start a "I wish I had not sold my V8" club! I don't know why but every time someone mentions V8, I get this sad sort of feeling.... On the bright side, my back is not so bad any more
Better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all! Or something!
20. PLEASE get some pics!! Don't think I have ever seen a matching cab in 410 config. I thought they were all cloth covered (over a metal grille) Cheers ped
21.
Yes the wiring looks like it took some patience to get done I'm loving the Kiwi in MoP too. A very sweet piece of work. Ped do you have the new V Bass yet? If not is it worth the move? Oh and I hope the photo wasn't taken while it was falling off its stand Peter
Hi Peter, I haven't gone for the new Vbass yet because it is quite expensive... it has a couple of new features that would be fun but not worth the upgrade for me personally. You can get the original for around £300 now and the new one is somewhere around a grand, so the value of the old one is outstanding. The new one is still a good price considering what it can do, though. Did you read the recent Bass Player review? I must admit I prefer the format of the old unit too as a single pedal; the new one is a desktop type affair which would be more awkward for me. Looking forward to trying the Shuker through it though. I really liked Kiwi's Axon, great fun playing drums on the bass but the lag was too much as we hadn't set it up properly, but potentially very cool. Cheers ped
22. Cool pics, I like the action shot!! Technically there won't be any lag when playing through a Vbass as it is not MIDI. ped
23. I had a 5 string one with a Status graphite neck. I really liked it. Turned out the neck needed shimming but once sorted it was great. Very usable sound... I actually preferred it to the actual wooden necked MM! ped
24. If you have the facilities, why not try some online collaboration. I have recorded a few parts for songs via Kompoz.com and it is really good fun... ped
25.
Whens plans for the next NW Bass Bash?? I'll defintely be there, was speaking to Chris Carter bout organising another one, i'm keen to push this as I wasn't around for the last one having a gig on the same day. Mr Hiscocks, any details? If I can organise anything or help, must get another one on this summer or soonish!! Oh btw Ped, Chris C loves the Overwater 7...!! Took it along to a rehearsal he was at, beastly bass I love his Vigier, thats soo nice!! Anywayy....talk on msn sometime Chris, lets get the next one rolling!!
Hi Matt :0) No plans for a NE bash at the moment, but we are sorting out a rather special national bash for the summer. If you want to organise anything up there, go ahead! I don't live anywhere near so difficult for me to take the lead on that one. The venue for the bash last time was good but access to the room wasn't perfect (couple of thick studio doors to carry gear through via the control room) so maybe you could find somewhere better? I plan on going up to see Mr. carter soon so will definitely give you a shout when I know dates etc, we can meet up with Myth_ste too! Cheers ped
