Yeah same but then again in a few years there’ll probably be a free alternative.

I see yeah thanks. My use is definitely more scattergun approach - as soon as I hear a track with a tasty bassline I play along and jam around it and add it to my ‘play along’ playlist. I’m not really deeply ‘learning’ the track as such. I’m interested in making the workflow more seamless so that I can do it quickly when inspiration strikes as opposed to a methodical learning approach. I’m wondering if I can do an AppleScript or something that’ll do it, such as the one I use for opening Shazammed tracks in YT Music instead of Spotify which is the default.

https://www.lalal.ai This website is one that I saw mentioned by Janek G on his YT channel. Looks pretty good but I think it might work out more expensive than just paying yearly for unlimited uploads. Might be worth a trial to compare. I’ve just shifted from Spotify to YT music but now I’m tempted to try Apple Music again because Moises can sync directly with your library of purchased tracks which makes the workflow a little easier. Is that how you do it @Paolo85 is it fairly seamless?

I’m quite happy to pay, but want to know if it’s possible to import the track directly without having to download then upload the track wherever you get it from. Of course I already pay for YT and Spotify music. Both allow saving tracks for offline but I don’t think you can access them out of their platforms to import into Moises. It would be amazing if there was a plug-in that enables you to adjust the mix in the streaming app.
-
I guess they’re all the same then when it comes to uploading the music. Ah well not to worry it’s quite easy to do.
-
I see, that’s a pain. I can use a YT music downloader but it would be nice to remove the step. Not all allow YouTube music links and some are poor quality audio.
-
If I try to import a track with a link it says streaming services are not supported, it needs a local file
-
Someone told me about Moises which allows you to upload a song and have it analysed - it then lets you remove guitar, drums, bass, vocals, keys - and it’s really accurate and easy to use. It’s also handy that it syncs your library across all your devices so I can be using it in my ‘studio’ and then play along with my mixes using my phone and boss wazas in the lounge. The only drawback is that you have to have the local file to upload. I assume they’re all like that but I just wondered if anyone has tried any similar apps/sites that allow you to put in a link for the track from YT music or Spotify etc? Cheers

Ah yes you might be right about the case. Still, I wonder where the case that it was given has gone? RE the story of a bass.. it's really nice to know the provenance, and I also really like it when a piece of gear has a nice story or super happy buying experience around it, such as a really friendly seller or a good vibe in general (as opposed to a rude seller, initial problems and bad juju) but I don't think i'd pay extra for it as long as the bass plays well. Most important for me are original finish and yes I really like the original case!
-
I'd definitely want the original case for 20k

It was a slice of hardback book cover! If I was keeping it then i'd probably file the bridge saddles with some abrasive cord instead.

Too late! in all honesty we hoped to remove all ads and rely on people becoming supporting members instead. That was the plan but I don't think any moves have been made to help ease that transition yet.

A friend at work hates using the phone but found putting it on loudspeaker so you’re not holding it to your ear helps. Guess it’s more like talking to someone in the room that way. Maybe worth a try.

I think I remember, was it using a lollypop stick? -

I quite like the sound of a foam mute with bright strings. You get the initial attack and a nice full sound behind it. The Mustang bridge also fits a mute really nicely, I know it was designed to have a specific mute attached but this works just as well (and quicker to adjust!) -

I accidentally pulled the wire out of my pickup on my Squier Mustang yesterday when I tried to adjust the pickup again and thought I’d do it without taking the strings right off (super lazy I know). The treble side has a really short wire so it was quite taught, so when I tried to push the pickup up a bit it came off. D’oh. Anyway I have a plan for that bass so watch this space. But that gave me an idea - why don’t I try the Elixir strings from the Squier on the ‘66? I did and it’s great. Quite a different vibe once the strings had settled in. The panning between pickups is now even more pronounced as I’m dealing with a wider frequency range I suppose, but we go from taught woody bark to snappy nasal funk with a twist. Reckon I’ll keep them on for a while. With my foam mute in at the bridge I can get some pretty muscular thud from it still. -
Boss Waza Air now available for bass. Personal Amp System.

The official case is nice but quite tight, so getting them in and out is a bit tricky. -
I've been using my Roland VB99 for over ten years now I think (used the V-bass before that). Super happy with it, it's just as good as a multi effects/preamp/interface using a 1/4" cable and a normal bass as it is accessing the full polyphonic range and features with a GK3B pickup. It's got the best compressor and sound quality I've ever tried, certainly - although I daren't try a newer generation unit because I'm happy to leave well enough alone and I really like the form factor over a floor pedal unit.

Yeah that’s been listed for ages. I think unlikely anyone would want all of those.

Cheers mate yeah the small stone is a really nice sounding phaser for sure. I have a Phase 90, had the Phase 100 and Aguilar grape, and had the Boss PH2 before that, but this one has a more useful sound. The only issue is a slight volume drop on this one, not sure if that’s universal from unit to unit (I doubt it as they all vary depending on what was lying around the factory). They did the Small Stone in the same ridged box as the Tall Font Big Muff so I might pick one of those up if I see a good one. The Bassballs only came in the folded steel box. The Big Muff and Bassballs are a great double act. You probably couldn’t get two more different sounding effects. The muff sounds amazing with my Mustang, even though it has flats and I generally prefer distortion on lively roundwound basses for some lively grit and bite, but this pedal brings that along by itself - with the Mustang it falls over itself and cascades into a pillowy scattery mess which is just super satisfying.

Thanks guys. Now sorted. The issue was that the hole for the pickup screw was stopping me from pushing the pickup down as it’s so tight and effectively threaded by the screw. Weirdly the bass side of the bass pickup has no spring at all but the others do. All seems quite solid now. -
Yeah very true. Well the Sovtek and the tall font I own both distort slightly differently at the attack of the note and then decays slightly differently, almost like the very front of the wave has more bite and some of the clean sound which then gives way to quite a complex and random 3D sound. It's like the dry sound lives inside the distorted signal and changes the intensity and warmth throughout the pluck of a note. Can you tell it's not easy to describe! A good example is posted on the thread about my EHX green muff
