Stereo amplifier

Just been poking around on eBay and saw these... really cheap and look OK on paper (remember the system needn't be that loud or sound AMAZING because I will be using IEMs too) but wondered if they would be any good with bass.... 4. I heard from Mr. Markbass that part of the switching power supply feature set is that it attracts cats which help maintain a constant plate voltage and impedance ratio across the diode triode coil. Or something. ped

Yeah. I was looking at some stereo poweramps on here such as the one from our very own OBBM, so will have a look and see what cabs or active PA speakers I can get locally before going for anything... Cheers ped
6. TBH though, what would be different about his 'signature' model? I don't really get why fender make them unless they are different in ways other than the colour or a mark here and there... ped
7. OK I moved some recent FX sale threads to the new forum to get the ball rolling. Give it a couple of weeks and things should settle down in the amps/cabs forum. If you have a thread in there you want to be moved, drop one of us a line :0) ped
8. I just moved some recent FX threads there so I am afraid you missed the opportunity... Can't say I wasn't tempted too, though!!
9. Hi guys, Due to recent feedback I have created a separate forum for selling effects, instead of lumping them in with amps/cabs. Current effects listings in the amps section are fine but post in the new one from now on if you please! Cheers ped
10. Yep the effects forum is now ready to use.
11. Hehe, I did say 'kind of'
12. Ditto! Never heard of the fella!
13. Aye, just a gate. On the other hand, setting a high threshold adds some great feel to synths and the like. I would advise against using one on your clean sound though, you need to tap that noise at source really. So which pedal is it? ped
14. http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/jjburnel.htm Hasn't he kind of already got one? Never heard him to be honest, who does he play for? ped
15. BTW Ben, you might know this, but noise suppressors work by 'closing the door' so no signal (or hiss) can pass through unless a threshold is passed at which the door opens a bit, depending on the sensitivity. Thus depending on the level of hiss you can balance it just right to close just after the sound becomes lost to hiss without cutting off any sustain, but it depends on how loud the hiss is. Chances are if it is noticeable enough to annoy you at the moment then a noise gate might not work. On extremely low level hiss I don't like gates because I notice it far more than without.... Cheers ped
16. Get yourself a Pro and rack it, have it at the end of the chain and then the noise gate will work nicely and voila! I know what you mean, I really dislike having lots of separate things to plug in//link up to each other/power outlets etc and went looking for an all in one solution. Cheers ped

Deep Thought

Drives an ambulance eh? Now that's an interesting way to deliver gear quickly... I wonder if you can call an ambulance in a severe case of GAS? ped
18. The noise gate on the pod should clear it up for the most part, if you really can't live without the culprit. I can't stand any sort of hiss myself, I have a bit of OCD about it! Cheers ped
19.
Iv got 2 pairs of 'grado sr60s' they're great Hi-Fi headphones. i should imagined they'd be good for most things!
I love my Grados for music but for bass by itself they really don't do very well!
20. I have tried various things with bass and have always found that Shure E2c's faithfully replicate what my bass sounds like - so when I am playing about at home I know what I hear is what will go to record in the studio. Cheers ped

Stereo amplifier
I'm thinking along the lines of a stereo power amp (using the V bass as a pre). You would have to fit XLR connectors to the amp end of your leads but I reckon that would work.
That sounds like a winner. The Vbass has XLR outputs too so could use those. Do you know of a semi decent power amp? Kiwi I looked at active monitors but their performance at low volume is quite variable and they can be expensive for a decent active set... Cheers ped
23. Cool vids, thanks a lot. I tried to embed them but failed miserably - the links you provided work great anyway. Cheers ped
24. Hi guys, Sort of looking for a stereo setup for lowish volume practice and gigging (will use IEMs for anything large so the amp needn't be very loud). I used to really like Hartke gear, so was thinking two 210xl cabinets would suffice. What head should I get though? Coming from my Vbass I will have two 1/4" outputs, left and right. I looked at the LH series amplifiers but don't think they would work, the Kilo looks like it would but possibly overkill... Is/was there a stereo version of the 3500? Used to love that thing. Maybe I should buy two?? I never really was that into amplifiers so need some pointers. Think I am settled on the 210XL cabs (they are the ideal weight/vol for me) so need some head pointers... Two 1/4" jacks, two speakers... fill the gap! Budget? Not sure really, maybe up to £400 for a head, less if possible. I also considered two combos but think that would be an expensive option... Cheers ped
