1. The one in the PMT near me has been there as long as I can remember... I will check out the price for you! cheers ped
2.
I think after all the nonsense going on at the moment, you should make this abundantly clear in the for sale section. What goes on there shouldn't be any of your business and you shouldn't be expected to act as some sort of ombudsman if things go wrong
Noted - I will add a line to the guidelines bit. Cheers ped
3. Cripes! I was happy to help at the beginning but starting to feel glad I stayed out of this one!
4. Adding the thread to your sig is a great idea, thanks. We clearly need a better system though and I will sort it out. I don't want to have a system where people can take up bad feedback with mods though as we are not responsible for any deals done on BC, just read the guidelines and be very careful! Cheers ped
5.
One solution would be to add a feedback section to personal profiles. When people receive their item or whatever, they can go onto the seller's profile and just post about the transaction. Then if you are thinking of buying from someone it's as easy as clicking on thier name to find out their feedback.
+1 - I hoped this would be easy to incorporate but I think there was some difficulty. I will chase it up though as it seems the best idea. ped

NEW Roland Vbass

Good to see you elros :0)
7.
I'm quite surprised actually, always thought graphite was a vey stable material for necks. Keep it coming
It has the potential to be completely stable, but not everyone gets the recipe spot on. Sometimes it varies from instrument to instrument as much as from manufacturer to manufacturer! Cheers ped

NEW Roland Vbass

Great score, £175 is a steal. I could use a spare if you don't like it ;0) Let me know if you want any help with it. Correct, the GK3B is the newer pickup - the 'brain' section of the unit is a little smaller and supposedly thinner too - but the main difference is the 2B has a longer cable between the pickup ad the brain. Fitting my 3B was touch and go as cable length was critical because the 'brain' is mounted on the back of my bass, but luckily it was exactly the right length. Worth downloading the manuals for them both and doing some measuring. I toyed with the GK internal kit but don't really want to cut up my bass to do it, though I am sure the GK pickup will be a permanent part of my instrument. Cheers v-ped
9. Same as you Jake and the same as the last couple of years - be happy with what I have and do not buy any basses. Not that it is a hard one to keep, mind. I couldn't be happier (with my gear, anyway) ;0)
10. Hi Rich, welcome to Basschat! http://www.allparts.uk.com/index.php are very fast and have a small selection of less fancy knobs. Also look for WDmusicproducts who are similar and I think have a few more. Why not pop into the 'introduce yourself' forum and tell us a bit about you and your gear etc? Cheers ped
11. Mike is also the reason I picked up bass, so that is enough to keep him indoors! Any info would be great - as for his awkward playing in the Apollo in Feb, I think Mike looks fairly awkward when playing anyway - his trademark 'sitting on the bog' stance looks pretty uncomfortable to me but good god can he throw those basslines about. He is definitely my fave 5 string player, his use of the B is just right. An e-card sound like a cool idea... Cheers ped
12.
The Bass Cellar ad....MISSPELLED AGAIN.....Aaargh!
Did they call it the Ass Cellar?
13. I had a pretty clear sound in my head that I wanted to achieve - after having a few basses and getting to know the characteristics of different features the type of bass I wanted became clear and luckily everything fell into place. If you buy wisely you won't lose any money on your bass journey through trades and selected bargains. Most of my collection comes from an original outlay of about £750 for a 57RI Pbass and a Pedulla MVP. Cheers ped
14. Yeah it was great fun hearing the ACG and the Retro pre-amps at the SE bash. Didn't someone video it? ped

Bass clips

The Vbass contains a boggling amount of things. Whilst it can be an fx unit with every type of effect under the sun, you can also model amplifiers and cabinets, and then there is the really interesting part. The pickup interprets the string movement and takes on board everything from scale length to string height to put virtual pickups on the bass so you can play 'other' basses, synths and other things like organs with one bass. I thought it sounded too good to be true but boy was I wrong. Months and months later and after a lot of tweaking and playing, I am confident that the sound is incredibly accurate and the jazz bass for example is the best I have ever personally had, and I get the feel and playability of my #1 bass!! I know I probably go on about it all the time and bore other people, but it really has opened a whole new world for me! And at the end of the day, the 'clean' bass, or the sound of my ACTUAL bass pickups, sounds better than I have heard so far (I was a pod XT user for a while, tried various other preamps but tended to go direct to desk before that) I haven't really researched the GR20, not sure what it offers that the vbass does not, but I know a few Vbassers with them, so there must be something. Richard Bona has both and uses them a lot.. Cheers ped
16. Kev, don't worry about student debts. You can't avoid them. Keep the bass otherwise that £900 will disappear really quickly and you will end up still in debt but without a bass. If you truly think it is the best bass you have played, save yourself money in the long run and keep hold of it... ped
17. We are international crime fighters but not miracle workers!! Well done to everyone involved, I have about caught up with the story now (it overtook me very quickly) and welcome to our friends from Warwick. Cheers ped
18.
here's a vverrry interesting Gibson related article and its quality control practices: http://www.dinosaurrockguitar.com/new/node/240
Thanks for the link. It certainly backs up my own experience with Les Pauls- I don't play guitar but my friend tried lots of guitars before finding one that was right, and we were both surprised at the outcome. Price doesn't mean anything when it boils down to the magic of the woods working together and other hidden factors which cannot be easily 'upgraded' later as so desired, like hardware. Cheers ped

Bass clips

Mine is the old one, the original unit. I haven't seen the new one yet but think they are out now-ish. As for setup, you have to install the pickup according to the instructions and then on the pedal itself you type in the exact distance between the edge of the pickup and the string saddle of each string etc etc so the pedal can interpret the string movement accurately. Amazing piece of kit!!

Hi mate, Never tried a GR20 but Elros had one. You can blend the clean bass with anything on the Vbass, so presume you can on the Gr20 as well. Wouldn't mind trying one... Cheers ped
21. Cool stuff, sounds like a good 'relationship'. I wonder how many basschatters are endorsed? Cheers pedro
22. Looks like I am single now too! Still, bass is better, isn't it? (Humour me)
23. That seems to be the case yeah. The lock bites into the groove in the strap button. I think the likelihood of it failing is slim but time will tell, or hopefully not as the case may be.. Cheers ped
24. Awesome lads, cheers for the vids, too. I really like the sound of the PJB. Top basschatting all round, and good to put a few faces to names. Christ on a bike BigAlOnBass is a huge chap!! Cheers ped
