1. Can't be arsed
2. Phew! That's that sorted then. Next? ;0)
3.
Even putting all the suggested resources into a Wiki, doesn't provide what I am asking to be provided, which is a sub-forum, where new players can identify each other, interact and those wish to assist with questions, can do so in a mentoring capacity.
Are you asking me or telling me
4. I need to see the resources to weigh up having a forum with them pinned or a reference section or nothing at all, so if you could send them to me, or a list of them that would help us decide. Cheers ped
5. I recently asked a very 'beginner' question and got lots of answers. If I had posted that on a beginners forum, what would the difference be, do you think? Cheers ped
6. I am still waiting for these 'resources' too...
7. You would be surprised how the front pickup sounds on this bass, like a mixture of stingray and P bass. Definitely sounds like it is further forward if you catch my drift. Unlike some basses with a similar layout each pickup is very usable on its own. Cheers ped
8.
That confirms it then!! I always thought that the luthier's craft was somewhat close to being a practitioner of the black arts!!
Plus the one!
9. CHRISDABASS - technically it isn't me who will be putting the tickets together, I am just doing the [s]rigging[/s] draw at the end :0)
I've never played a Warwick but I do like an occasional flutter so count me in. A shame that a charity element can't be figured in somehow but never mind. I'll have a think and let you know if I have a 'Eureka!' moment. Cheers Doug p.s. Ped, any chance of a Vigier in the next raffle...?
Not one of mine I am afraid but in principle I think there is some mileage in this whole raffle idea. We will have to see how well it goes!! l8rz ped
10. Hi mate sorry about that, probably should have arranged something! I will check one out ASAP and have yours if I like it (there is a shop down the road selling them) Cheers ped
11. Ritar-DED (Deranged Encompassing Design)
12. I don't know but I hope you get the chance to send them to me before you find out ;0)
13. Madness! I have never seen a better condition series 2 bass. I don't think I ever will, they didn't make many!
14. Simon1964 has kindly offered to check into the legality of this 'auction' (turns out there may be a problem with doing a raffle for personal profit or some such, don't ask me why) so I hope nobody minds if we bear that in mind... by all means register interest in the meantime until we know either way. Cheers ped P.s sorry Thunderthumbs, I probably should have looked into it before!
15. Now I have seen it I don't know if I can remain impartial ;0) Lovely looking instrument, I hope this idea goes really well! ped
16.
now then to all ye yorkshire peeps. Nice forums these, a lot less ego then the gu!tar players forums I've frequented in the past So if I play both does that make me bi???
Hello mate and welcome to BC. You might not be Bi but do you bum frogs? ;0)
17. Really want one of these!! Don't suppose you would post? I doubt you will have much probs selling locally :0) Cheers ped
18. Hmm that looks quite advanced to me... I really have no idea about theory and not really a jazzer either (though I am sure the book would be helpful nonetheless) Ideally looking for something linking specifically to the bass guitar and written for 5 year olds Cheers ped
19. P.s I am not looking for books that teach licks or different styles.
20. Yo, I want to start reading music/learning about scales and so forth as at the moment I haven't looked at that sort of thing for a long time. I haven't really felt the need and just enjoyed playing and grooving but thought I would find a good book that I could really get stuck into and learn the theory - perhaps even teach some lessons at my school. My friend has Bass Guitar for Dummies, is that good? What else is there? I am not after technique books or anything like that (bass guitar for dummies seems to spend a fair chunk on this) but assume I know nothing about the theory, what should I read? Cheers ped
21. A poll wouldn't give a balanced outcome because only those interested in a topic entitled 'Beginner forum' will cast a vote. I will wait to see what AM1 sends me and have a think. A reference section with resources/links and so forth is a good plan.
22.
I'm a room to room guy and to be honest i dont really see it as being a "noob" section as such, more of a resource for learning about playing, gear, gigging etc.I may be wrong here but it seems the more experienced among us are the one's that think it's unnecessary.Personally i doubt very much that it would divide the forum at all but then that's just me. edit, +1 on the current format but not having something like this before is'nt really a reason not to have one in the future. Why not trial it for a while and if it doesnt work out close it.At the end of the day it's easy to set up and i'm sure that there'll be plenty of folks who'd be happy to moderate it.
Hi mate, Sorry, I didn't mean 'noob' but meant that on other forums the beginner's area is usually used by people referred to as 'noobs' which is the kind of environment I want to avoid having on BC. I think a reference section would be a good idea but not sure about a separate forum. AM1 if you could PM me a list of the resources etc you wish to post, I will lok through them and decide, based on their quantity/quality/accessibility/format etc what is the best way of presenting them on the site. I agree the WIKI isn't much use because lots of people don't notice it or know how to use it (I included to a large extent) but a beginners section full of these resources sounds like a better idea. Other people have summed up my own views far more eloquently than I could in so far as the section would be a useful resource with beginner content but I don't think beginners should be worried about posting basic questions in any of the current sections. I will discuss it with Kiwi when we next touch bases but personally I would vote no, too. Cheers ped
23. Interesting stuff. I am still not sure myself. I think a beginners section 'library' sounds like a better idea, depending on the quantity/quality of these resources you mention. I don't really like the idea of a separate area for 'noobs' like other forums I visit. I don't like the way it divides people up. We have never had one before and never had any problems with the current format. Too many forums gets a bit much and our discussions are free ranging and cross curricular... With the volume of posts every day I think a lot of people use the 'view new posts' feature rather than going from 'room to room' as it were so these beginner forum posts would still appear for everyone anyway which kind of defeats the point IMO. Cheers ped
24. Very nice and clear sounding... I think I could hear everything in perfect detail! BTW 7string - that high fidelity + low F# = new headphones for ped!!! Cheers ped
25. Someone buy it!!! Maybe a sound clip of my own similar bass would help things - or totally kill off any interest!!! http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=WILDNiF6k38 Cheers ped
