Hehe that is quite expensive! Anyway who cares what it looks like, as long as it sounds the same, eh? Regarding mickd's passion, the bass looks very clean - stunning condition. I know of a chap who owned a bass extremely similar to this - same colour and hardware/logos but the front pickup was further forward, it was a prototype. Who else has the original zip up semi-hard cases for their basses? ped

...and yes, the 'cracking finish' is a funny one. Perhaps worth asking Patrice V about it? I would be interested to know. The 'finish' on them seems to be like an extra layer like CD David said. Probably just another mad/brilliant idea... If they were perfect, it would be boring (like old Citroens - I use that analogy a lot!) ped

Hey Walman - that 'SVT Grit' patch was by moi!

Growly and aggressive to me is achieved with low action and digging in, a bit of clank, through a loud but clean amplifier. Distorted bass, to me, doesn't sound aggressive - it has lost its aggressiveness by being effected. Real aggressive tone is tone where you can hear the digging in, the energy.

Yeah massive fan here - love the production and the players. Just got Walter's new one and really like it, very cool sound.

Best sound I have ever had? Well it had to beat a hartke 3500 with 410xl and 210xl cabs, a Mesa 400+ with 1516BE cabinet, a trace V4 combo and a few others I could mention such as a SVT CL and 810... IEMs!! Never been able to hear myself better. Kind of obvious when you think about it. Often I turned around to look at the massive behemoth behind me which took ages to struggle into the venue and I though - 'what's the point' ped

I had a fantastic day. the next bash has a lot to live up to!! The venue was excellent, great idea to have two rooms. Really nice catching up with some regulars and meeting lots of new faces (both new and old). Thanks to Kiwi for bringing me along and to my girlfriend for lending me her 106 for the day. I just about returned it in one piece. Some highlights for me - very impressed with the two 10" BFM cabs and the new Hartke head brought along by andyonbass- simple setup with a great sound. Also cool to see Urb demonstrate the amazing looper pedal. I went to buy one today but fortunately the shop was closed so I have saved some money! It was a pleasure to watch Mr. East share some of his amazing knowledge with us with the help (and fantastic playing) of his handsome assistant (sorry, forgotten the name!) Simply a fantastic day with some fantastic people for a fantastic cause. Thanks to everyone involved in setting it all up, and everyone who came and made it a great day. Cheers ped
